This title is a criminally underrated masterpiece. Caffeine not only presents a unique and enthralling world but also reignited my passion for coffee in a way I never imagined possible. The game strikes a perfect balance in its storylines, offering a narrative that is both smooth and captivating. Here are my thoughts broken down into pros and cons: Pros: 1. The author's profound understanding and love for coffee shine through, making it a delightful game aspect. 2. The world-building is exceptional, with compelling stories and rich lore. 3. The characters are well-developed and charismatic, especially the villain, who stands out brilliantly. 4. The humor, particularly the coffee puns, adds a delightful touch. 5. The endings are well-crafted, leaving lasting impressions. 6. The inclusion of economic and business elements, like the coffee auction, is both intriguing and enjoyable. Cons: 1. Post-game, my Saeco Talea Ring's espresso just doesn't taste as good anymore. 2. Certain elements feel underdeveloped and could benefit from more detail, including world-building, international relations, character depth, and exploration of Victoria's internal journey. 3. The storyline involving the search for Taka's mother is somewhat underdeveloped, making the reunion scene less impactful than it could be. Overall, Caffeine: Victoria's Legacy has quickly become one of my favorite novels. It's a must-try, not just for coffee enthusiasts but even for those who prefer tea =))
nice storyline , not yet finished but love it
♨ Coffee talks.
What happens if you drink too much coffee? Oh, you'll learn about it from this visual story. And I keep leaning on beer, but it's useless. We have to switch to coffee. It's sarcasm. A story for coffee lovers from coffee lovers. Coffee is the most common word in this text. I won’t do spoilers anymore. Beautifully painted. History on the fan. Not so bad. Just for the fan. But an interesting world was invented. I liked this idea. I do not regret the purchase. I recommend. However, here is what I want to say. My Norton Antivirus categorically refused to allow me to run this game and immediately deleted all executable files. In this case, I started the demo version without any problems before deciding to purchase the game. I had to turn off the antivirus and run the game in the sandbox in order to play it. It seems to me that this is not right. The developer must do something about it.
Caffeine: Victoria’s Legacy – coffee-based visual novel based in steampunk future.
Caffeine: Victoria’s Legacy was created by group of developers, that are working on Kikai Digital. It was sponsored by players on Kickstarter and its full release was on 20th of March 2020.

So, as I said before, it is visual novel. At the first, it reminds of first season of JoJo Bizzare Adventure, but after prologue scene you get not a medieval English adventure, you appear to be in future steampunk-based world. Sometimes, you will return to this medieval scenes, but not that often. The story goes on with protagonist called Taka, who is trying to discover what happened to his mother. She disappeared on his 6th birthday and everything he remember is little coffee-house on the side of the street. So, here our story begins. I won’t tell you about the main story, because there are a lot of different paths to choose. But there is one little issue – If you hate coffee like me, and you don’t want to be a coffee-maniac, so this game may not give you all of its pleasure. This world is kinda coffee-maniacal and you will see it clearly. Then, we have great art. It is incredibly-well-done. There are only a several visual novels with such details in game sprites. As I’m not a real fan of manga, I liked this one. I played Everlasting Summer, which is a great novel, but this one still more poetic and interesting, as there is no that many sexual content. Cons: you can’t play as you want to get a good ending. There is only one “true” ending and you won’t get it, if you play like a bad guy. You have to be a little, shy and honest boy, that can say only the truth. And it is not that good, as the remaining part of the game. This moment, that made me not to complete the game to the real end, but, if you’re okay with this – welcome! Caffeine: Victoria’s Legacy will bring you a lot of gameplay and story pleasure and you won’t regret buying it.
Generally, it is a good visual novel. Not a great one, but a solid good. I do recommend you to buy it, if you’re not a coffee-hater, you’re okay with only good dialogues and you don’t need to see a lot sex in game.
It's interesting but...very very long... Finally reached the true ending...
Follow Far2close - Visual Novel Playthroughs Curator Page Caffeine: Victoria's Legacy Developer: Kikai Digital Publisher: Kikai Digital
Pros:
1. The premise is unique, I don't think I've EVER seen any media that uses caffeine as a heavy lore point. Of course in the fantastical world of Caffeine: Victoria's Legacy it utilizes caffeine down to its core and how political it can get. You might be asking "What do you mean, it's just caffeine?", well not exactly. The caffeine in this story is special; it has its own lore with Victoria being a founder of the land and passing down the caffeine from its beliefs, powers, and utility in the daily life. Caffeine is a way of like for the citizens of Victoria, they put pride into their coffee with the highest quality ingredients and processes of making it. With belief of Caffeine, you can have abilities such as fireballs or teleportation, and other wicked powers. There is also a class system with the rich having the high quality necessities while the lower end make due with their limitations, even with how they are looked upon in society. Aside from the expansive lore of caffeine, the story itself is a fascinating endeavor. You are Taka Knight, the son of your missing mother and part of a family that once resided in the steampunk town of Victoria. You find yourself in Victoria after a supposed attack on the plane you were on and discover information such as the coffee house you spend a portion of your childhood in, to still be standing. At the moment it is being run by the young Alice, a caring girl that wants to do her best for the coffee shop. As you stay in Victoria, the coffee shop is threatened of being shut down along with you trying to figure what happened to your parents. With the stakes at hand, Taka does his best to learn caffeine and making coffee in order to help out Alice along with companions such as Oceane, Eliza, and Mel. Depending on which girl you choose, you can unravel what lies beneath the truth of caffeine. Despite its serious story, it does possess some comedic moments that I found to be a fine piece of relief from moments of despair. 2. The characters are all unique and possess their own charm. Taka can be seen as a goofy somewhat (poorly) womanizing hothead but he cares deeply on the inside. He is an energetic protagonist that I can't help but love, kind of in a similar way to KONOSUBA's Satou Kazuma. Alice is that girl who means well every time and is someone you can fall back on. She is reliable and lights up the place with her smile. Oceane is blunt and can seem like a big grump, but under that hard surface is someone who wants to prove herself that she is worthy of love and approval. Eliza is similar to Alice but she possesses a certain authority to her and is adorable on frequent occasion. Mel is an interesting person, she's quite passionate in what she does and doesn' let bad events affect her horribly, instead she keeps on pushing forward through the hardships. They all have their own charm to them and have a lot to keep you reeled in. 3. The art is extremely cute and the CGs do an excellent job in highlighting the events of the scene. I think one of my favorites involve Oceane where
they teleport to a lake and when night falls, Taka plays the guitar during a dialogue between him and Oceane.
Another highlight I would like to mention are the animations, it does well in some portions such as
Taka and Oceane on the escalator
and it does add in some life to the sprites even at a few costs (mentioned under cons). 4. I love the music. In every piece of media, music is such an important factor even if you don't realize it. The opening song "Caffeinated" is a great introduction to the world of Victoria and tells you more about Taka. Again, my favorites are Oceane. The track "Oceane" adds in the emotion of watching a master work on their art; it shows their focus, dedication, and years of practice just get every little detail correct. It's soothing yet motivational. "Campfire Coffee" is a mellow acoustic guitar but it shows the melancholy, pain, and the moment of just sitting by as the day/night and your thoughts drift by. 5. There is partial voice acting! A majority of it plays during important events but I think almost everyone did a great job! If you're familiar with EN dub scene, you may be able to recognize some names or voices such as Kira Buckland or Elsie Lovelock. In a personal matter, I extremely enjoyed Daphne Nitsuga's performance as Oceane, I think she is absolutely perfect for the character.
Cons:
1. I can see some inspiration from Food Wars, an example is when
Oceane makes Sophronia drink her brew and Sophronia goes through a coffeegasm.
I absolutely understand why this was here. I absolutely understand how it can fit in the lore of Caffeine: Victoria's Legacy. However, it just felt a bit out of place and awkward. 2. As I mentioned, the animations do well in some portions. The areas that need refining are the sprites as they do have some simple animations like mouth movement and some minor body movements as they do look a bit rough. Even if you disable the animation, the sprites don't lose that awkwardness as they will be doing one pose then immediately shoot to an idle pose, this was enough for me to keep the animations enabled as it made it look much smoother than it being disabled. 3. The Gallery is an excellent feature if you want to take a better look at the CG art, the one issue is the text of both the instructions and the name of the CG. I press all the buttons I know to disable the HUD but it might be permanent. 4. Sophronia's voice work was fine but there were some segments that could use more emotion such as big ones like "AAHHHHHHH!" or some of the laughing (unless the laughing was intentional).
Conclusion:
Caffeine: Victoria's Legacy is an absolutely entertaining visual novel with a unique concept. It is only held back by some oddities in the animations and some out of place moments. Score: 8/10 GREAT
Why do more people not know of this visual novel
