Bura: The Way the Wind Blows is a cultural exploration game, where you play through several ages through the same person's life and interact with the Croatian legends. The focus is on the exploration, with some minor puzzles here and there. You need to observe your surroundings, and there's a skill system in the first two parts of the game to assist with your exploration. You do get a notebook where you can record your findings, such as flowers, local legends, and various cats and dogs you encounter throughout the adventure. The text is written in a child-like font, which can be a little difficult to read at times. I also wish there was a pronunciation guide for the Croatian text, I can read some but there are a few letter combinations I'm not quite comfortable with. The artwork is very cartoonish, but still looks nice. Sound's decent and music is good. There are a few minigames as well, such as a ball game and you can play fetch with a Dalmatian. They're not really intrusive. There were some issues, though most of them were fixed or greatly reduced in occurrence. The big one that still rarely happens is that you can get stuck in a slow walk state if you get pushed by a wind wall or a strong current while gliding/swimming. This requires a reload of the save to fix. The game is surprisingly CPU intensive, and my fans were going full blast since it was fully pegging some CPU cores. There were also a small number of things that cause controller issues, but these were mostly fixed as well. I also wish the default field of view was not 40º, it's very uncomfortable for a lot of people and a 70º or 80º default would be a lot more pleasant. Finally, it's fairly short, my first play was a bit over 3 hours (though I didn't find all the flowers or second chapter's powers), so it doesn't quite hit the $1US/hour that I tend to shoot for. in most games. I do give a bit more leeway to visual novels or cultural walking sims though.
Sweet cute little game that sadly gave me motion sickness, so beware on that regard. The surprisingly dynamic and reactive movement of the player character and camera is what seems to get me woozy, and I've never experienced this in other games before. Other than that I actually really enjoyed the cozy simplistic artstyle and the general sunny mood of the Adriatic setting, I just wish I could play and explore more without getting dizzy. If you're into lovely Ghibli style experiences where you can just take your time off and relax then this game is for you. Pet all the cats!
Sweet, relaxing adventure with Ghibli vibes (visible in the spirit designs and in the mountain-top painter). Sometimes there’s a tiny bug (you can clip through a rock), but it doesn’t spoil the mood, sometimes it even helps. A game for a slow, laid-back ride - pomalo.
I liked the very stress-free experience and various options of exploration, it gives you kind of relaxing vibe throughout the game.
Bura: The Way the Wind Blows is a calm, cozy exploration game set on the Adriatic coast. With beautiful hand-painted visuals, no combat, and a relaxing pace, it focuses on memories, nature, and everyday moments. A short but heartfelt experience for players who enjoy peaceful, story-driven games.
Very cute game with a beautiful art style. Initially I found some bugs with the options menu, but after getting in contact with the dev team via discord they fixed the issues very quickly.
I'm sad to say, but the game seems to have been released very prematurely. I was looking forward to an interesting indie project but currently I feel very unmotivated to continue playing despite being a short game.
A fun and light exploration game, with Mediterranean folklore elements. Nice casual game with adventure elements, that even very young children can enjoy.
its a nice, low key relaxing puzzle and exploration game. It's interesting seeing your character grow up during the game
