Bullet Witch is a dark, gritty third-person shooter that mixes gunplay with magic, set in a bleak world overrun by demonic forces. Pros 1. Unique concept, blending firearms with large-scale magic attacks. 2. Destructive environments, letting you tear through parts of the battlefield. 3. Dark atmosphere, with a bleak tone that fits the apocalyptic setting. Cons 1. Clunky controls and shooting mechanics, even for its time. 2. Repetitive mission structure, with objectives that don’t change much. 3. Story feels underdeveloped, with limited character depth. 4. Kind of buggy at times Overall: Bullet Witch has a cool idea and some satisfying moments of destruction, but rough gameplay and repetition hold it back. It’s more of a curiosity than a must-play, though it can still be enjoyable in short bursts.
S tier game. It's short, the voice acting for the protag barely passable, it's got environmental destruction with the physics that games at its era were obsessed with, and she' cool af. It's got a lot of things I love about old games in both its strong points and flaws. Also you'd think this game would be silly and be more spunky considering it came out during an era where a lot of action games loved to copy DMC but it actually takes itself seriously to an almost cheesy degree, and I love the story. The story has that canny early 2000s action movie cheesiness but near the end it does really well at tugging your heart. Really the only thing I wish they did better with this game is be more confident with its music because it has such a good soundtrack but sometimes the music just goes silent all of the sudden. Overall this game is great, good port, short but decent, an experience, wish there were more. Get it at a discount. Also this game was made by the same team that made Drakengard
it's ok, but you need to connect controller to play properly even if you play on mouse/kb else game is stuttering for some reason
A beautiful witch with a giant gun fights demons in the post-apocalypse. It's like a early 00s late night anime, awesome.
TL;DR: This game is a hidden gem but without the gem I wish this game was much more than what it was. As it stands, there's just so many things that make this game feel bad to play. There's no run/sprint button, so you're forced to walk unless you spam the dodge button (while flashy, it's not much faster). While the music present in the game is decent enough, most of your time playing will be in complete silence other than bullets and footsteps. The silence makes sense narratively as humanity has pretty much been wiped out, but it still made the game less engaging for me. The game's controls were also a sore spot as aiming with the controller did not feel very precise (this very well could just be a skill issue). Also, the fact that getting hit with moving objects is an instant kill was very annoying, especially since some of your spells can throw those objects at you unintentionally. Bullet Witch, despite its lower graphical fidelity, still has some moments where the presentation shines. The standout example of this is the boss fight of Chapter 3, where you're standing on a airplane fighting a demon with the moon in full view. I also liked the forest section of Chapter 5, where fog obscures the different enemies you're fighting and really amplifies the atmosphere. I was not expecting to be scared as much as I was throughout this game, namely whenever the possessed human enemies appeared. The sound they make when they run around and when they die was NOT fun to listen to lmao. The whole time I played this game I felt like if Bullet Witch was made by, say, Platinum Games, it would actually be so fire. Nevertheless, cavia is not Platinum Games. While I respect the work cavia did developing this game (and Marvelous for porting it to PC), the end result was did not do it for me.
