Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/w_9Nhz3fXH8 I simply cannot recommend this game. I ran into too many issues while playing. I would get stuck on the dirt ramps. Vehicles (opponent AI) would crash into me and basically disable my vehicle from being able to be controlled. There was also just too little content. Game feels more like a demo. You have two game modes (time trials & open racing). You have two tracks. You have two vehicles. Game is single-player only. I believe you can customize each vehicle with up to 4 different tires. That would be the extent of the "build and drive racing." I basically unlocked almost everything in about an hour (although I still have one wheel to unlock & some challenges to complete). There is a slow grind to unlock these limited options. The RC-type arcade racing was kind of fun. You basically use motion controllers like a gamepad. Joysticks to steer, trigger to gas / brake, grab buttons to handbrake. You can change camera with the face buttons or you can honk. You can press in joystick to reset car, which you'll need to do often. The game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting steady 90 fps. You can play it in non-VR and, honestly, I didn't notice much difference. There is no behind the wheel / cockpit view, just 3 overhead camera views. The game was fine when it worked. Not great, but nice RC arcade fun. However, the content is too limited. When you add in all the bugs I faced while racing, it just isn't worth it at any price. While the game is in Early Access & the developers promise more content in the future, I cannot recommend this game. Currently, you're basically playing to be a beta tester / support development. Maybe in the future this will be a better game ... maybe. Rate 4.5/10. Not good enough right now.
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. Build and Drive Racing is an Early Access paid RC car racing game in VR. It worked on my Index and HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. You are looking at the car from third person view or higher up. You can change parts ( Wheels ) on the car and then race it on a track. It has a free demo you can try before you buy. You have to win one mode to unlock other options. You can play this game also from the desktop with keyboard. Maybe buy this, if you liked playing with RC cars. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. ViVE VR curator group
