Featuring 120+ authentic levels, 60+ entities, and complete freedom to explore the way you want in true solo isolation.
BrVR delivers the definitive Backrooms experience in virtual reality.
This is not another low‑effort maze game or puzzle‑heavy multiplayer project.
It is a carefully built single‑player survival experience that recreates the strange reality of liminal spaces with atmosphere and depth.
120+ AUTHENTIC LEVELS
Explore the renowned yellow halls of Level 0, the mysterious Poolrooms, Level Fun, and countless other distinctive spaces inspired by established Backrooms lore. The game is currently in Phase 4 of a five‑phase upgrade plan focused on improved graphics, lighting, signage, optimization, new voice work, NPCs and more.
60+ ENTITIES AND CREATURES
Face a wide range of inhabitants, from friendly wanderers to hostile forms. You can fight, flee, build traps, or befriend helpful entities that will follow and assist you.
Don’t like entities in The Backrooms? Just turn them off in the EXTENSIVE settings menu.
TRUE SOLO EXPERIENCE
BrVR is single‑player by design. We believe The Backrooms should convey isolation and unease, so the experience remains purely personal and atmospheric.

I really can't decide if I like this more or garry's mod with vrmod. It is very close. I would like two player AT least. Because I want to explore with my S/O. I can do this in gary's mod VR, I don't see why it's not doable here. I will say if you're interested in Backroom stuff the devs are very active and faithful to the lore, as you will see, these are pulled from SCP-wiki's. I will recommend this game but definitely try garry's mod with VR mod and realistic flashlight. Thank you Wallace bros.
First off... Wow, just wow. This is hands down the best Backrooms game for VR. I saw and played some VR Backrooms games, but none gave this perfect feeling of being alone, dread, fear, feeling unsecure even in lit areas, questioning ur own sanity when walking for an HOUR in circles. XD The Good: Massive selection of Levels and even Negative levels <(those arent really found in other games) Great performance and no stuttering, lags or Crashes as of now. A HUGE selection of Lore accurate Food items. Weapon selection is also really satisfying. Lore accurate Entities that are relentless in hunting the player down. The level Design is so good, but leaves a tiny bit to wish more for. Exploration mode, be alone and wander through all levels and have fun finding out. Great addition for people who just want to experience the Backrooms without getting eaten by a Bacteria or Skin stealer. Physical movement and climbing, wow i love that u cant grab ledges but u can put ur hands on em and slowly push urself up and irl crouch down to get up. This alone made it worth getting around obstacles and be creative at traversal. The Bad: The controls are super floaty and bad. <it takes time getting used to this weird momentum) Items in the Backpack not losing collision that results in the backpack flyin away or u getting boosted at mach 20 through the map... quite litteraly no clipping and dying by an infinite fall. To fix this the devs should make it so that ALL items stored in the Backpack lose ALL COLLISION. This removes the buggin out and removes the glitched movement boost in random directions. This also can be caused by simply opening the SteamVr hub, for some reason doing so makes u boost at random through the world <it caused multiple no clip deaths. Guns... oh Guns. i like em but the physical weight makes em unweildy and the biggest issue is... They arent aligned properly to shoulder em to aim. <I have to move my right arm almost the my left shoulder to aim straight down the barrel... that awful) lots of clipping issues and janky invisible slopes or edges u cant get past... unless u somehow physically move ur body in a way to push u past those. Level 19 can have randomly open spots where u can just walk off the map. Flashlights burning through batteries WAAAAY too quick. and vive wand grab lock is also hella bad, i have to double click the grip button to release ANYTHING I GRABBED, this also causes flashlights to drop their batteries when u click too slow. Either make it a hybrid system only for guns and items to light up the darkness. but i dont need it for my backpack or Almond water/food... its just not okay the way it is right now. And the tiny PM Pistol cant be grabbed, only the mag. But besides the jank and issues. This is a great experience that can be made way better with time and love. If u can look past the Controls and minor buggy messes. This game is worth the 10 bucks. Big Thanks to the devs for over 60+ gb of pure Backrooms fun. i hope in the future it will expand even further to keep me explorin and losin my sense of direction.
I'm annoyed, so I'll start with the things that annoy me first.
Things that annoyed me
I got killed by a Faceling with no way to defend myself, that's fine, but what's not fine is it now knew where I spawned so every time I died it was on the spawn point and instantly killed me again. When you come back you get a window of invincibility, but it's completely useless unless you want to quit (which I did). Index controls have at least one major flaw. They have you use a community mapped control scheme, which is fine, but the run doesn't work well so when you try to escape stuff you just die, which is not fine. I'd like to see an always run option so I could just tilt my thumb stick as far as I want for it to go a speed I want up to a run. I'm also constantly grabbing things on my waist because I think it's set so any amount of grip causes it to grab. This led me to losing a few items along the way without realizing it. This also means that anything telling you about controls really doesn't help you (but you can figure it out). I spent 40 minutes in the tutorial only to clip out of bounds because I got in an elevator and then got off and then the elevator went up without me. After hitting the kill plane it force restarted the entire level, which includes a really long section of dialog that's basically just an unskippable cutscene. At this point I skipped it and proceeded to not know how to actually start the game. Eventually finding something in the front rooms that let me drop to Level 0.
The things I liked
The voice acting, for what I got to experience in the tutorial. While campy, I actually really liked the dialog. It's hard to explain that feeling in words. Even though the segment with dialog was long and unskippable (as far as I'm aware) I enjoyed listening to it. The amount of options. The customization for your experience is pretty fantastic. Don't want hunger, thirst, or sanity? Turn them off. Want constant health regen? Turn it on. Plenty more there to customize. The atmosphere. For what little I experienced I liked the atmosphere. I expected Level 0 and I felt like I got Level 0. I wasn't able to explore much, considering I was spawn camped in the next level, but I hold out hope that I'll return and enjoy the rest.
Things I am mixed about
The game kind of feels like Boneworks meets VR Chat. I know that sounds weird, but it kind of works. One problem is that my left hand kept getting stuck places, since it's a physics object, forcing me to have to use snap turn to return them to where my hand actually is and climbing is also really slow and weighty. You get adjustable crouch, like in Boneworks, which is neat, but went wholly unused on Level 0. There's also momentum in movement, which I have a love/hate relationship with lol. There's also a vault system, which is pretty neat, though I didn't interact with enough. The sheer variety of items and entities and levels is overwhelming, but it's also great to see so much put into it. Unfortunately I ended up skipping a lot of the tutorials because they are mostly just walls of text. A few are demonstrations, which are great. Here's how to deal with a Smiler with a Smiler there for you to test it on was great. Just telling me a bunch of stuff about the 5 or so different almond waters was not. Though, almond water that lets me charm my foes seems pretty sick. To add to the previous point: there's crafting, which seems neat, but I hope I never have to remember all the recipes lol. You can also upgrade your weapons, which is really cool, too. I just don't know if dying disappears them forever and if that is the case then it seems a waste of time and energy, but I haven't gotten deep enough to know.
Closing thoughts
I hold hope for the game and wish the devs the best. I got it on discount at $7.49 and I don't plan on refunding it, but I can't recommend it right now either (especially if you're an Index user). The game was released in 2023 (early access 2022) and appears to have had a lot of work put into it and it looks like they're ready to put in a lot more, but these fundamental flaws (specifically being spawn killed ad infinitum) break it for me at the moment.
Amazing game to mess around with for a while in VR. Great sandbox, tons of levels, and the graphics, while basic at first glance, actually look pretty neat in VR.
This is probably the best backrooms game i've played my only compliant is just the models/entitys in general, the game would be so much better and scarier if they remade the models.
this game so damn underrated, its genuinely one of the best vr horror games I have ever played, and I just cant believe the amount of levels this has and unlike other backrooms games, the levels actaully are fun and full of stuff, seriusly man, the amount of love put in this game is incredibly
100% the best backrooms game I've played to date. You can play just about however you want. It's lore accurate, and you'll even see familiar scenes from Kane Pixel's found footage videos
I hate this game theres literally no sound on vr and some glitches make it so i cant walk through doors. Absolute Trash
Honestly the best backrooms VR game I've ever played! Although its a little scuffed with some levels, I love the survival, exploration, and content in this game, which makes every experience new!
