Information / Review English
Broken Sky is a war flight simulator in arcade style with action elements, which was developed by Addictive 247. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2487762966
Gameplay / Story
A world marked by war and destruction. But all of this is not enough, because aliens want to usurp world domination. The battle for important resources has begun. If you like this, you should definitely read on. First of all, the game mechanics and gameplay are kept simple in Broken Sky and are primarily concerned with collecting resources, i.e. resource management and adapting your machine (aircraft). So arcade-style action is on offer right from the start. Your task is to get as many aliens as possible out of the sky and to repel the enemy attack. Gradually, new aircraft, weapons and special skills can be unlocked, which can be individually adapted and bring new advantages and disadvantages with them. There is something for every type and variety is required, so that each round feels and plays differently.
Pro
+ Simulation in war + Air combat with lots of weapon customization options + several types of aircraft are available + every run is different + different opponents + Developer who helps you immediately with questions + Bonus challenges + Price / performance ratio is right + many setting options + Achievements
Contra
- Control takes a bit of getting used to - Music could be more varied
Conclusion
Broken Sky gives you a great Mix of Crafting / Customization and Action. The Game is a lot of fun and if you like fast Action, you should definitely grab it here. Clear buy recommendation in this genre. PS: First of all, many thanks to the developer who provided us with this key for the group.
Information / Review Deutsch
Klare Kaufempfehlung in diesem Genre. YOU , PILOT #39,as one of the few hopes left for humanity to be saved, will have to take your plane and fight the hordes of enemies. But the fight won't be that easy! This is more or less the story of Broken Sky. Broken Sky is a side-scrolling dogfighting shooter game inspired by some retro classics like Sopwith or Jumpjet. While it doesn't feature a campaign story,it does offer quick dogfighting action and challenging gameplay. But let's see more about it!
2)Gameplay :

[th]6 unlockable plane types [/th] [th]Unlockable weapons[/th] [th]Upgrades[/th] [th]Variety in types of enemies[/th]

[th]Challenges (Random+Standard)[/th] [th]LeaderBoards[/th]

The goal
In Broken Sky our main goal is to survive as much as possible and kill the maximum amount of enemies we can.Like i said above, there is no campaign mode,so in every run ,we are chasing the maximum score we can achieve, competing our personal best score or through online leaderboards.
The mechanics
Broken Sky has a very simple nature ,in terms of mechanics. You fly,you shoot, you try to avoid enemies. That's all!And thus the controls of the game are very simple (few buttons). But,can this simplicity offer a satisfying result? And the answer is,yes.Although the mechanics and controls are simple, the challenge comes from the gameplay.Fast gameplay, that needs quick reactions will really test your reflexes. The also good variety in enemy types, make it more unpredictable, because you never know what you will face in your next move!
The Upgrades
Luckily in our battle against the aliens,we are not alone!First of all ,we can get better planes,by unlocking them.By saying better,i mean faster or stronger.Secondly,we can upgrade our weapons by choosing other, stronger ones. Here i have to explain that we have one main weapon, one secondary weapon and one special weapon that recharges by time. All of the them can be upgraded.Last ,but not least, and maybe the most important,we can upgrade our shield and that way we can have an even stronger plane. Now you have the tools pilot, but let's see how does it look like!
3)Visuals/Graphics :

[th]Pixel Graphics[/th] [th]Colorful[/th] [th]Cute[/th] [th]Simple[/th] [th]Retro-styled[/th]

The visuals are very simple.Cute,Clear,Pixel Graphics with a retro style, reminding classic games of another era and bringing a sweet sense of nostalgia. Also ,in every run,the color palette randonly changes, giving some more variety.
4)Sounds/Soundtrack :

[th]Nice Soundtrack[/th] [th]Fits with the concept[/th] [th][/th]

The soundtrack is really pleasing and totally fits with the concept. It gives a sense of suspense and upcoming action.
5)Strongest Points :

[th]Nostalgia[/th] [th]Simple+Responsive controls[/th] [th]Quick Action[/th] [th]Colorful/Cute[/th]

[th]Challenging[/th] [th]Replay Value[/th]

Weakest Points :

[th]Needs more content/modes[/th] [th]Price[/th]

My only complaint is that the game needs more content,or to say it better it needs some more content (or modes) so it can justify easier the full price tag.
6)Summary/Conclusion :
“A fun, dogfighting shooter game that will bring a nostalgia feeling to old-school gamers, but will also satisfy the younger audiences that like modernized ,old-school style, arcade games.
Curator page here--> DaRevieweD <-- New review every Weekend

We're Soaring, DYING~
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2497480284 Here's The Thing: You are pilot #39, one of humanity's last standing resorts holed up in underground bunkers against the full on scale alien invasion. The world's gone to shi*e basically and "Broken Sky" is a joint system for coordinating attacks, using the very same tech that drove them into hiding! With man's best friend, a number of assault planes and firepower, you take to the sky... And it's gonna be a beautiful day raining hell~
[+] PROS;
:) I love the whole engineering aspect (not for the sake of accuracy in physics though) to the plane's fluid movements. How it automatically snaps back after performing a 180 degree flip to dodge missiles or lose pursuers. Or the fact that flying low close to the ground will give that jet-like repulsion and weight keeping it afloat!! Adding a touch of realism in a game that really didn't need it but shows the dev's dedication~ :) There's an astounding simplicity to the game be it the pixelated graphics, endless waves of enemies and progressive difficulty spikes... But the thing is I was all for it! Definitely one for those seeking more of a challenge and it's reflected in the inclusion of leaderboards; beating others' high scores! But it's also for players who just want to kill off time and destress, maybe fulfill a special mission or two of the many available. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2497484923 :) The more you play, the more you are rewarded! You can simply "git gud" but I really admired how Broken Sky gives you a helping hand- provided you nab a lot kills, put in a lot of time or just by how many missions you keep doing!! I think I've unlocked all the plane variants and most of upgrades at this point. But still somehow I keep losing! Rest assured, I will be back again to annihilate the score of the old me~ :) The design of the game is magnificent! The lack of a conventional menu allows for ease of transitioning between exploring the base, jumping straight into a match or even tweaking the settings!! Better yet, I've lost track of how many enemy types there are because I keep running into- or should I say crashing into bigger, badder and foreign looking aircrafts the longer I survive!!! And the backdrop of the sky constantly shifting little by little to hues of purple, orange and other shades with each retry is subtle but is a very nice touch!
[-] CONS;
:( While there are cool concept art, loading screen tips and schematics of the enemy battalions you'll meet plastered around the bunker- I still would have appreciated a separate practice mode or at least a short tutorial to get into the groove of things like movement, the inverted movements that are a tad "two left feet". :( More game modes are needed! This next point is increasingly plausible and has actually materialized to some capacity given the latest patch which granted access to a new area and etc. I mean, it's probably too much to ask for a price of $7.99 (I'm probably pushing it really) but come on this game is amazing~
The Sky's Your Limit!
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2497484040 Last Words? Broken Sky is almost too perfect. The premise is shaky but it doesn't seem at all consequential once you're facing off hordes of enemy winged wickedness! Chances are you might even forget the plot within the first round as you're thrust into combat like a baby birdie learning to fly!! Then come the seemingly endless new toys, loadouts and challenges you'll experiment with. All to ensure your longevity up in the clouds and taking down of as many suckers as possible before your eventual plight! Whether in short bursts or long sessions, Broken Sky is something I'll keep coming back to for its addictive nature, cue on-the-nose developer name and I sure hope you do too~
4.5 / 5

Thank you to Addictive 247 Games for da key!!
This game is a brilliant casual play. It's got a really satisfying gameplay loop and unlock progression, fun aesthetic and the music is EPIC. Also you can pet the dog!!!
Broken Sky is a heck of a lot of fun. I was ready to review this several weeks ago but glad I waited; it's come a long way since then. The core mechanics were already solid but he's put tons of work into balancing and added loads of cosmetic and QoL touches. A great little retro shooter that faithfully recreates the arcade experience. A series of challenges and frequent ship and equipment upgrades keep the game moving and feeling fresh. Very moreish.
Positives:
- Very simple gameplay, but in a good way, the formula is there. This game keeps you wanting to play to get all the objectives and achievements. - There is a small story and some sub-stories throughout the bunker where you start, which are greatly done. - The game gives off a really nostalgic vibe with the pixel art style.
What can be done better:
- I instantly crashed at my first try, since I didn't know what I was doing, a simple tutorial before beginning would be handy to have for newer players to this genre. - The gameplay loop was a bit tedious and felt repetitive after some time, which is a feature I don't like myself, but that is a personal preference.
Issues I had:
- I didn't encounter any issues while playing the game.
Accessibility:
- No button remapping, which makes it hard for left handed kb+m players. - The game is controller recommended, which I'm not a fan of, since I prefer kb+m. Picked this up as a Luftrausers fan. But honestly. I'm torn. I think I am just about leaning negative here. This is like Luftrausers, but worse. I gave it half an hour. I don't necessarily feel like I wasted my money as it is only £5.79, but for £6.99 you could get Luftrausers instead. With Luftrausers you really feel like a sky ninja, ducking, diving, rolling all over the place. & it is super rewarding. The way the BGM builds up as you survive as you flip & twist around all over the place dodging bullets by sheer luck whilst of course telling yourself it is skill. & every run you have a new combo of gear to try out & clear achievable goals. This game feels like it is trying to play out similarly. But it just doesn't quite hit the mark. Instead of feeling like a sky ninja, you feel like a sky truck & a lot of the time just don't feel like you have the agility to dodge some of the projectiles that come at you. & without regenerating health after a period of safety it feels like you are just ground down by these cheap shots. Progression also felt too slow to keep me engaged. With the poor agility & repetitive gameplay after 30 minutes I just didn't feel compelled to keep playing. I wanted to like this, & nearly gave a thumbs up regardless because 'eh, it's only £5.79', but honestly I don't think I can see myself come back to it. Luftrausers just does everything this tries to do, but better. Vsync also seems borked, I played the first couple of runs at half speed thinking game was dull as hell. It didn't get much better when sorted though. Your agility is just terrible, you take half the vertical space of the entire map to turn around. Not a ~bad~ game, really am on the fence, but it just misses the mark. The dev should play Luftrausers & will see why it is just a better game
If you love dog fighting games, you'll love Broken Sky. The fx, soundtrack and colours are beautiful. Very easy to play, the interact-able main menu is cool. Lots of customisation options. Definitely worth checking out, almost has that independence day feel to it.
This is excellent. Comparable to Lufthausers, same addictive feel. There aren't too many upgrades, minimalist, but fun to experiment. Would like to see more plane and enemy variety. But game-play keeps you coming back for at least an hour. Great job on this.
