Brighter Shores is an all new adventure from award winning MMORPG designer Andrew Gower. It is an enchanting point-and-click style RPG with hundreds of hours of gameplay, set in a land of magic and mysteries, with a huge number of professions to try, and something new to find around every corner.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.

just feels very empty with not much to do
TLDR: Not great for anyone wanting a social aspect, less grind and a good story with fun gameplay. While Brighter Shores is not the worst MMO I have ever played, it's also not the best. It's got a lot of cool ideas like the board game layout of the world, but it fails to have an interesting story, characters or anything memorable for me. Not to mention that it is incredibly grindy and this aspect makes it difficult for players to communicate via chat in game when they're in the same space/section because there's just no time to start chatting. And it doesn't help that chat disconnects when a player leaves one section for another. I sunk 43 hours in out of curiosity because I heard about how bad the game was. I stopped once I got tired of the grind and found a few games to play that have not bored me or been super grindy. Brighter Shores has the potential to be a good MMO if the team gets serious about fixing things and I hope to see a lot of important changes by the time the game is out of Early Access.

a good grindy rpg. I cant wait till the multiplayer stuff starts. maybe being able to party and share exp or trade items to help lvl cooking or alchemy while your friend makes all your gear. fingers crossed this keeps going.
I have been forcing myself to play this for two days because I want to at least see some of the story After grinding for hours, I have managed to complete exactly one quest, and I'm not even sure it counts as a quest. There are literally no activities I can do right now other than grind to level 25 combat or fishing, and I'm not very optimistic the game will change after that. At level 20 I unlocked the "passive activity" and after letting it run for almost a day, I'm still at level 22. I suppose on the bright side I can just wait another day or two rather than grind.

Finally a straightforward MMORPG like the original Runescape
NOT WORTH IT. THERE ARE BETTER GAMES TO BUY AND FULLY ENJOY. PAYING A SUBSCRIPTION IS SICK.
As a Runescape addict for 20 years, I'm not sure how I avoided knowing about this game but my friend sent it to me a couple of days ago. I read the negative reviews first and thought "oh well, seems like that doesn't affect me" and decided to play. A handful of negative reviews I saw said that nobody talks in this game and it's boring. It is repetitive and different from Runescape but I do really like it. You have to go into the game knowing you're NOT playing Runescape and give it a couple of tries. I did at first feel like just getting back on Runescape but after a little bit longer I got hooked here too. I mostly wanted to make this review to address the reviews about nobody talking to you here. It's true you're not going to log in and see people yelling at each other like they do in banks in RS. That's actually refreshing to me. I have however had some nice encounters in my very few hours of playing. First, the chat defaults OFF in the options so you have to manually turn on things like your name, your chat, your messages, etc but I think we're all smart enough to realize that so that's probably not why those reviews exist. This community is very small so most of these guys are in Discord talking to each other. I had no problem getting replies in chat, though. I even had a guy follow me across the map to make sure I got a quest piece I was obviously lost looking for. A couple of people have showed me where to get things I needed and I appreciate them very much. You're likely to see the same people everyday running around. Everyone is leveling though so understand that that's their main focus. I think some people are open to chatting but a lot are trying to skill, same with Runescape. I'd say give this game a fair chance if you like the chill aspects of Runescape and if you find MisterBeefy feel free to say Hi. If you're looking for community in the game, try searching for the game on Twitch because there's gonna be like 1-4 people streaming it and it makes it easier to get your foot in the door with making pals.
This game makes me so mad. Took a year break and now I can not even fight the crows anymore...
