Bramble: The Mountain King

good game, not for the soft hearted. ends well.

Gameplay is very similar to Little Nightmares in a lot of ways. Or Limbo if Limbo was 3D. Story is much more interesting to me in Bramble than those two though since it's more of a Fable or Grim Fairytale type of story. Bosses are tough but doable. Make sure to savescum if you want the no death achievement because getting no deaths in this is pretty nuts. No major glitches encountered and there were no issues using a controller.

A well made, albeit short, indie horror game. The experience was much better than I expected and the pacing was just right. The music and mythology also really came together to enhance the entire experience. They did not get too ambitious here, which is a key reason why the game shines. This was focused storytelling with simple gameplay. You can beat this in about 4 hours and there are some achievements to grab if you are interested, including a particularly sadistic one that requires no deaths during the entire playthrough. There is a small amount of janky controls but not enough to overshadow the rest of what the game is doing right. It does escalate quickly by getting into some dark and mature elements so be aware of that and don't be fooled by the initial screens.

You play this game because of its story, and is really good. Fantasy, violence, fairy characters, gore, etc... The only drawback I will put here is the controls sometimes are a bit annoying. But I really enjoyed this game: short, no secrets, no battle pass. Just a good story to unravel.
