Really fun rhythm game, enjoyed alot with a banger OST, you can feel that this game was made with love. Looking foward for more games from Duckbridge!
Disclaimer: I did receive the product code for free ahead of time, but all thoughts are my own opinion. My time with "Boy Beats World" has been pretty good so far. The mechanics are fun and I really enjoy keeping time with the music to get the most of the attacks and other mechanics. All the enemies make use of the different skills you get in the game so you feel like there's always something new to use as you work your way through the game. The only thing I would like to see for this game would be some sort of an Audio-Visual offset slider. This would help greatly to make sure that no matter what set up your using you can always get perfect sync of the button and the on screen actions. Pros: - Funny Moments got some good giggles out of me - Game play is fun and evolves as you progress - Music is a constant bop - Interesting story and great visuals to go along with it - Can be challenging :D Cons: - Would love to see an Audio - Visual sync offset slider like beat saber or other rhythm games have. Otherwise I think for the price and concepts in this game I would recommend giving this game a shot :D

After streaming this on my Twitch channel, my viewers and I were all feeling the vibe! For as rough and simple as it may be at first glance, there's a good variety to the combat to keep it interesting, and the personal touches in the humor and composer's notes really make it an experience. This is certainly a fun little diversion for a rainy afternoon if you're into unique rhythm games and chiptune; I'd love to pick up the soundtrack on Bandcamp if the dev publishes it, but for now I'll look forward to finishing the campaign!
Quite innovative, worth a try. Runs well on Linux.
An addictive bite-sized action/adventure/rhythm game. It blends the genres seamlessly and the first game to really nail rhythm based combat since Crypt of the Necrodancer. Oh yea, and the dialogue is consistently laugh out loud funny as well as perceptive in its commentary on the state of modern labor.
I played the demo and loved the gameplay and the charm of the world of BBW... and finally the game is here! You play as a human in a world where almost all humans have gone extinct and now robots and other creatures took their places. In the beginning you have one attack button which can be executed (according to the beat) perfectly (yellow), good (green) or red (bad) and a dancing button which help you collect the loot left by you enemies. Later you got a rolling move which you will have to use to dodge, stun and even being able to attack some armored enemies. In the meantime, the mystery of your existence and the new world unfolds... It's quirky, fun and the music is great <3
Worth it just for the OST!
This game is unique and fun. I loved everything about it from the music to the graphics. Definitely a game to grab.
Игра, где вам будет жизненно необходимо хорошее чувство ритма. И умение услышать бит. К счастью, есть и функции упрощения, для таких как я. https://youtu.be/s9DG5LczvAQ
BOY BEATS WORLD is a strange little adventure with tons of charm and originalty. It's especially recommended if: You are looking for a music game that is not all about perfect execution You enjoy unique world building and dark comedy You enjoy searching for new music in real life The introduction is a bit slow but after that it's pretty smooth sailing. Not everything is explained right away and it seems expected of the player to figure out and try out the mechanics (and pogression) themselves. But there is a help screen and extra settings to help you out.
