Looks great, thank you for making a cool & free ray-tracing benchmark! (and i also like how it's sorta making fun of current day shooters, i can totally see COD or BF go this route hahaha) FPS counter pretty much matches the Steam overlay fps counter but updates quicker (Steam was consistently like 2 seconds behind the counter shown in the software) Below are 3 results from running it with a RTX 4070 Super (outputting @ 2560 x 1600 60hz) and a i7-12700KF: DLSS: Off | RTX: On >> Average: 55.5 | Min: 12 | Max: 178 DLSS: Quality | RTX: On >> Average: 93.6 | Min: 8 | Max: 249 DLSS: Performance | RTX: On >> Average: 130.7 | Min: 23 | Max: 413 Honestly i cant tell the difference in quality between DLSS settings, so setting that to performance seems like a good idea for games 😁
The concept is a great idea but it suffers from a serious optimization problems no matter the resolution chosen. hitching on every scene change. The old unreal engine problem of many objects and motion seems to be present but to be fair that's a ue5 thing. Almost every title made with it suffers to some extent but not as badly as this benchmark. Maybe the dev will optimize it or maybe not..... who knows. i suppose it's free so that's a plus. i use ue5 myself and there are times you seem to spend more time trouble shooting performance problems than actual game development. It's ok for big studios who can rewrite parts of the engine to suit their needs but for solo devs or a small team your stuck with the stock engine and hoping some of the changes the big studios make will be rolled back into the main branch of ue5. anyway it looks great but runs terrible so i don't honestly know how its supposed to be an accurate benchmark.......
