A driving game focused on driving slow cars fast. The UI is minimal, the drives are long, indications are sparse. No car in the game has more than 200hp. Half of them don’t even have 100hp. Yet very few games will let you feel this engaged driving something this slow. READ DESCRIPTION BEFORE BUYING

About
The slow car fast driving game you didn't know you needed.
It appears that the game experience does not match the expectation of quite a bit of people. Here's a small guide to help you decide if this is for you or not.
You don't like long drives (every mission is at the very least a 20 minute drive)
You don't like a sparse UI/you need the game to tell you where you are and what to do constantly. The sparse UI and very little direction are there on purpose. You don't get a speedometer, you don't get a map, and aside from direction arrows and invisible walls to prevent you from going the wrong way, you don't get much else. Even if the UI gets redesigned at some point, it will STILL BE PARSE.
You can't keep your wheels on the road or you crash frequently. The offroad driving sucks and the collision physics are BASIC. You're not supposed to drive offroad or crash.
You don't like empty worlds. The screenshots are taken in-game. WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET.
You expect 8k textures and high visual fidelity. Again, look at the screenshots. WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. (on the upside, this game runs at 80+fps on a GTX 1650...)
You don't like the old school "start with the boring parts" progression. You can grab a game guide in our ig bio if you really wanna skip to the "good" parts. But this game is about driving slow cars fast, so if you don't like the first missions, the game is probably not for you. PLEASE DO NOT BUY IT YOU WILL END UP UNHAPPY.
You don't like bumpy roads. This game is set in the 80s in north africa. The roads are only gonna get WORSE with future updates
Expect the game to be retail ready. The core gameplay is there. But do no expect a polished experience (if you could message us on instagram with the bugs you find we'll be very grateful)
Overall, this is a game for people who really like driving (preferably with a ffb wheel) above everything else, are bored by high powered cars on pristine roads, and appreciate having a story to go with their drive. If this doesn't sound like you, DO NOT BUY THE GAME.
Now back to the regular description :
If you're bored by cars with a gazillion horsepower, by roads that are too wide, if you're disappointed by how much less fun the sub 300hp car is in game compared to real life, this is the game for you.
Step in the shoes of Yassine, a 20 something guy learning to be an adult in the 80's in the Maghreb region. Hired at a company called Maghrebine des Transports et Logistique, Yassine starts as a delivery guy then becomes a rep man, driving all kinds of vehicles on all kinds of roads at all kinds of speeds.
80s cars with varying layouts (FF, FR, RR) and engines (diesel, petrol, NA, turbo, 4 to 6 cylinders), hovering between 80hp and 180hp, manual transmission and absolutely no electronics
Roads and environments inspired by the Maghreb, tailored specifically to make these low powered cars fun
Plausible, responsive and fun physics (Simcade leaning towards sim)
Force feedback support, (tested and feels great on the Logitech G923, Fanatec CSL 8N.m, Moza R12, Simucube 20N.m, ...)
Traffic cars with a personality.
AI cars in some stages
Story driven gameplay
Optimized game. Runs well on lower end PCs
Best enjoyed with a force feedback wheel, still fun with a controller. Playable with a keyboard if you insist.
You only care about supercars/hypercars
You care about top speed/measuring speed in general more than driving feel
You only care about track driving, hotlapping, ...
You care about extreme realism (LIDAR track scans, super accurate suspension geometry, reproduction of real life), AAA visual fidelity, basically any extreme attention to detail that would require a AA or AAA team but doesn't necessarily add to the fun.
If this is you, we might have a game for you in the future, but it's definitely not this one.
You prefer driving slow cars fast
You prefer accurate road widths
You like driving in traffic
You don't like electronics in cars (Stability control, Traction control, ...)
You don't care about AAA visual fidelity
The founding belief of Boring Car Stories is that our day to day driving experiences are the most fun ones. The focus is not on hypercars and on speed, but rather on somewhat regular cars doing irregular driving. If you're familiar with the term "slow car fast", then you know what we're on about.
In most games, cars under 300hp feel unjustly slow. We think it's mostly due to the approach these games have taken. Hypercars are the most marketable, so the games have to make them the main event, which means they have to be playable by anybody.
This leads to roads that are too wide, cars that are overly stable, sound that’s too boring, all for the sake of being able to drive the halo car at its top speed of 300+kph without crashing every 5 seconds.
And while this is great for casual gamers, this leaves everybody else alienated, as it makes every other car feel mind-numbingly slow. It also leads to some cars never being featured in games even though they’re an amazing experience in real life.
Slow cars aren't fast in real life either, but they still feel fast and fun for a couple of reasons. We're aiming to reproduce that.

The driving physics is basically the only thing that works correctly in this game. Engine braking, understeer, snap oversteer, top heavy vehicles flipping at high speed, it all works great, as long as you stay on the road and on your wheels. If you go too far in the dirt the game will freak out and stutter, sometimes toss you randomly. Flipping your vehicle just makes a lot of noise and slowly rotates upright. Not too big a deal as long as you're a decent driver. There's also apparently wheel support already, so that's worth checking out. The problem is literally everything else. The world is very dry and empty, feels a bit like a Roblox game. I don't know if it's a rendering issue or what, but at native 1440p with ultra settings, it looked really pixel-y. Got 150-200fps though, so most you framerate divas will be fine. The missions are either very long or they break easily. The NPC cars you're supposed to follow always floor it as soon as you load in, drive as fast as they can, fly off the road, and lose traction trying to get back on the road. The delivery mission said it had markers where you need to drop off something, and I drove for about 5 minutes as fast as possible without seeing anything (again, could just be a really long drive). I tried opening the settings from the main menu as you do when you first open a game, and it loaded me into a non-textured map with a road on it, with around a dozen cars parked on the side. The mission journal pops up and either gives you the objective for the first level, or just has filler text everywhere. And my biggest issue: generative AI everywhere. There's short dialog cutscenes before every level, and each of them either have a screenshot of somewhere in the game, or some AI generated picture. My guess is the voice acting is AI too, not sure myself. All in all, there's a lot to fix before this is worth $25, but the bones to a great casual driving sim are there.

The early access needs a ton of work still, but i see the potential, i love the idea and the setting of the game Edit after playing some more: - Is there a reset button? if not it needs it - ps4 controllers do not work :/ - very fun and challenging driving
Please keep in mind that this game just released in an Alpha version. The driving-physics are very well made but everything else still needs a lot of work. After starting one of the stories, in my case the first one, you get a dialouge about 3 mins long and after that get thrown into a delivery car with only one quick information. "Keep up with your co-driver" That's it. No info on how long the route is, no info on when you need to be there, no progress bar or any useful input. The co-driver just disappears into the distance, doesn't matter if you're driving the ♥♥♥♥ out of that van, you basically can't catch the guy and end up loosing him. What now? Like I said, no info on where to go or anything. You're basically driving a single car on an seemingly endless street. Please do something about it, otherwise it is not worth 15€, altough i respect you guys are not a huge development team.
I can't recommend the game if you have played others like Beam.NG or Asseto Corsa because the physics aren't as good so if your after a game with decent physics I don't think you'll get along with this game.
I really enjoyed it, the driving feels good, even though its very hard on keybord, but the game realy needs a lot of work. First i think it would be great to have an unlocking another level system by compliting the level before, then atleast some sort of damage by crashing and a fail condition, its not much challenging when there is no way to lose. But the potencial is here, also i could use some more map detail. i really love the no ui experience but the menu also needs a little work on. Still really like this and i give a thumbs up 👍 please continue on working on this game, really looking towards the future
Game concept is good. but execution is lacking. Tutorial level needs more tutorial. Stock key binds where set up for a mix of gamepad and keyboard to be used at the same time. once configured I was able to atleast move the car. Also having sepperate nonstandard buttons for pause and menu seems very 1980s in terms of game design. Why you gotta reinvent the wheel when we have 50 years of game design to rely on. Driving physics need to feel better Ive played PS1 games with more feeling in the driving. Current driving physics feel like F-zero on a Inflight Entertainment System. Lastly the price. I don't usually complain about the price of games (devs gotta be paid) but why is it $37.50 on steam and $26.49 on epic? why the discrepancy?
If you simply just want to enjoy driving without electronics, like me, this is probably for you. The only thing missing in terms of physics is the crash physics. You sometimes just drive on top of small cars or maybe rollover multiple times and still be fine. Performance wise this game is great. I have a huge GPU bottleneck but im absolutely fine with the performance. Dialogue is lowkey corny but it's a matter of taste. UI is okayish. imo this game is released way too early considering the state it is in now and for it being 15,40€. The only reason im recommending this is that I trust the developers to improve on the game and that I weigh the quality of physics highly Tip: If you cant move in the beginning of a mission press P to unpause or restart the game.
I waited this game for some time and it delivered. Higly recommend with steering wheels w/ ffb, I'm sitting in front of my tripples and wheeling the hell out this peugeot-like van from first missions and I'm in love with this game.
Not a bad car simlike game, but where are the buttons/keys to look at the missions cause that screen is to quick gone. I like driving in the desolate desert landscapes. Controls are fine with my Xbox controller, but I think that steering is way better with my T128 steering wheel (must try this) It's an early access game and till now I want to ride more. After +3 hrs still a very nice (but boring ;) car sim. I like it! I hope to see more detail in the future (camels and karavaans next to the road, some more variation in the cities/villages. Historic buildings, beautiful vistas, some duststorms maybe, ..... ) PS: can you add a mirror and turnsignals please?
