Beautiful, emotional narrative game
⭐ Minha nota pessoal: 8 / 10
I love the story and even more the way that it is told. This game will give you pause and nudge you to reflect on your own life even if you haven't experienced the exact same issues. And the best part is that it does so in a safe and empathetic kind of way, without flooding you with negative feelings, on the contrary it feels quite therapeutic. I so far only played about an hour but already got immersed in the story more than most of the other games i have played. Blueberry is a real jewel. I can't speak to the platforming part of the game because I haven't played a lot in this genre, but I did enjoy it and it gave me a chance to cool down and process in between pieces of memories, pacing the experience just right. The great part is you don't have to like platform games to love Blueberry, get it for the story and the experience - it's absolutely worth it.
A compelling exploration of a human life! It's such a pleasure to play a game that was clearly built with so much heart and intention. From small aesthetic changes to changes in the actual mechanical controlling of the game, all the choices and changes throughout the game were clearly crafted in service of the narrative experience. The distinct chapters all evoke different flavours and feelings, and I really felt drawn in by Blueberry's story as it changed and grew and pieces fell into place. Got a little teary eyed here and there. Definitely worth a look if you enjoy an emotional story and some fun visuals!
It's a great story game. Don't expect much from the platforming. But the story is worth it.
A very heartfelt, playable therapy session <3 While the platforming could be tedious at times, the dialogue was written with a lot of thought and care, and the narrative structure stayed engaging until the end. Also, the art and music are beautiful!
It's a heartfelt platformer that deals with depression, alcoholism, suicide, and gremlin's in cobbled together scuba gear. The platforming is simple, and really just serves as a method of travel to the various doors that'll take you to a memory Blueberry is trying to deal with. And, I think it's all done in a tasteful way. But, I think you need to have a degree of empathy for Blueberry in order to really get the most out of this. Blueberry has some issues with her son, and that is driving the whole sort of self reflection going on here. But there's not a lot of detail or time spent on that particular relationship. Instead it falls more in line with a "It's not my fault I'm this way," as the story points to her difficulties in childhood and as a single parent. Our past certainly has an impact on how we are today, but it's far more in depth than the game can pull off here. I don't think it's a true lack of effort though. I just think there's a lot of emphasis on how difficulties of the past influenced her actions in the future... Without showing enough of a picture to develop the empathy needed to really care about Blueberry's plight. Then again I'm emotionally blunt and feeling much of anything is a rare thing for me.
