Okay, it's free and it's a student project, so it almost feels mean to give a negative review. But this is supposed to be an 'educational case study on Bethesda's Quake' and i don't think the lessons were learned. The game lacks precision in design.

It's in details, like a mouse cursor, that does not have a pointy edge that indicates the point where the click goes (Very noticable when the graphics menu automatically changes the resolution to 640x480 and then the cursor is half as big ans the whole menu).
It's in the vsync dropdown that shows numbers and i don't think someone consciously decided that the average players know the integer-constants of the vsync enumeration in the unity engine.
It's in attacks that have no impact, enemies that don't have sounds that telegraph their existence, etc.
It's in enemies that melee-hit you 2 meters away.
Play more Quake. It aged exceptionally well and there's much to learn.

As good as it is, there some bugs here and there that kind of ruin the experience a bit. mainly in the second level. a part from some textures that haven't been finished yet, it's possible to skip the final section of that level and it's also possible to get trapped due to invisible walls. It needs more tests to make sure everything is okay
I got Spyro the Dragon vibes even though it's an FPS. Probably was the floating keys and the graphics that did it. Bloom: Roots of Renewal has no relation to the other Bloom series of games, the main installment of which might never be released. Roots of Renewal is a fine game. There aren't too many fun games that I've seen with a nature theme, so this was fun to play. Tutorial wasn't bad. I didn't find any secrets in the first level, but I guess that's why they're secrets. One negative is that the achievements seem to be broken, though that's not enough to make me give this a thumbs down since the game itself is fine.
only 27 more years before they release Bloom Eternal
Bloom: Roots of Renewal, Hexen ve Quake'ten ilham alan birinci şahıs nişancı oyunudur.

Bloom: RoR is a basic, fast-paced shooter with a ton of graphical glitches. The amount of missing textures I found was honestly pretty funny. The main menu buttons will stay selected even when your cursor isn't hovering over them. I had fun with this game, but it's not great. Also, the achievements and progression tracker are pretty broken. Still, it's worth trying out 5/10
