Honestly the game runs a bit too slow for me. Even at 1.5x speed it still feels like a snail race. Among the time spending positioning your units, the game has a tendency to glitch and not send those units to the designated spot so you have to tediously click and drag 3x until the unit finally moves. You also cannot redirect a unit while it is in motion which becomes pretty irritating when you're trying to manage 20 different units at once. I got stuck on a glitch where for some reason a horseman unit was in between 4 walls on a encampment level, my only trebuchet got destroyed before I could break the rock and the game became a stalemate and I couldn't restart the level or end it so I had to restart the entire game completely. All in all, not in the best condition at the moment but I do like the concept and hope for improvements in the future.
#This comment will be based on the early access state of the game. The concept of the game is quite nice. You play as a strategist where you control the movement of each character in your team. Trying to survive as best as you can while also delivering lethal blow to the enemies. Upgrading your team on the way before dealing with the boss fight. It's a good concept but the mechanic is a flawed. I will type what I saw needed fixing below: - There are no description for the starting army. This make strategizing based on personal preference impossible. - There is no tutorial or glossary at all. New player can't understand anything about the game without it. - It's not making sense to me that changing weapon is by dragging the item into stats instead of into equipment slots. - There is no way to unequip item without having another item piled up on top of the character. - There is no base armor for character. There is no base weapon for trebuchet and wagon. - There is no clear direction you need to take in the game. You can go everywhere in the map. This will make the player confused easily and going straight to their demise. - Lack of unit variations making the game highly difficult even in easy mode. - There are too many small gap map. Making traversing hard for the player. Suggestions: - Make each character evolvable, this will make the player strive to actually use the character neatly. - Add tutorial/glossary or at least add description for each unit in the general selection. If you like strategy game that focus on managing you team while not checking on each character trait, this one is for you. The flaw can be fixed with time and I believe the dev already focused on it when I saw that roadmap.
Blood for the Throne delivers a refreshing mix of real-time tactics and RPG progression, set in a gritty medieval world where every battle shapes your rise to power. As a player, you command your general and army across vast lands, managing resources, upgrading troops, and taking on fierce rivals and monstrous foes — all in pursuit of the throne. The game’s graphics are simple yet effective, focusing more on tactical depth than flashy visuals, which gives it a nostalgic charm and ensures it runs smoothly even on lower-end hardware. Despite its modest presentation, Blood for the Throne impresses with its solid mechanics and enjoyable gameplay loop. Battles feel satisfying, strategy matters, and the progression system keeps you engaged as you develop your army. There’s also a good variety of units, challenges, and environments, ensuring that no two campaigns feel the same. The combination of accessibility and strategic depth makes this title easy to pick up but hard to put down. Overall, Blood for the Throne is a great tactical experience that proves you don’t need cutting-edge visuals to deliver fun and depth. It’s well-balanced, engaging, and built for both casual and strategy-loving players alike , a game I truly loved playing.
