Meh it plays like a lesser version of Binding of Isaac. The animations are rough, the game itself is quite buggy, and the obnoxious kiting game play gets boring quick. Hard pass on this pile.
💩
Obludia feels like a game that was made by care, but sadly this doesn't excuse it's shortcomings. Hitboxes are literal boxes (out of characters), , the animation is lackluster, to say it nicely. The store system is quite mediocre as the game is pretty easy with the basic crossbow, later with the boomerang weapon, so no ammo needed, dog + spells are easy to acquire, later you just buy ammo/dynamite for reasons Also weirdly enough the second boss is super easy compared to the first. All in all, the game sadly fails to deliver. It has really, really low replayability, not enough challenge to keep entertaining and no variety to substitute the challenge / save the game simplistic gameplay. Not recommended - but it would worth to keep an eye on the dev as the game is really far from being horrible, they can easily make something interesting for their next title.
SteamPlay/Proton
Interesting mix of Binding of Isaac and Hero Siege. + Nice graphics-sounds. + Good variety of weapons, enemies and power-ups. + 5 different bosses. + It can be quite addictive for some time. +/- Cleverly hidden secret room, but unfortunately there's only one... +/- The spells are a nice addition and can get you out of some pretty tough situations with minimum damage, however there's only three of them. - It's very small since it took me 4 hours to gain every achievement (after that, there's nothing more to keep your interest in the game...). Normal mode took me about 35-40 minutes to beat and I finished it only on my second try, plus the hard mode isn't much more difficult and you'll finish it sooner or later. - There's an upgrade system with points and some stats e.g. power or health, but with the game being so small and the amount of available points to use being only 4, after beeting every boss, I don't think that where you spent them will make a significant difference. - The 5 different locations are few and get repetitive after some replays. - Some times the movement of the character and enemies can get glitchy, thus leading to unnecessary deaths. Recommended to anyone that has already spent a considerable amount of time playing BoI and Hero Siege who wants to try another game like these (but a lot shorter in duration), only if they find it in a good discount or as part of a bundle.
------------------------------------------ This game is something of a clone of Binding of Issac in many aspects, but different from the rooms mazes to explore on Binding, each stage in this game takes place in a single room, where the player must survive to defeat all monsters, the game has its merits, especially if you like to defeat waves of increasingly tough enemies, but I do not think the game good and not detailed enough to deserve a positive review.
I can't recommend Obludia. All of the enemies seem to be copies from the binding of Issac.
There's not much originality here. The game mechanics are boring and basically just spits out a random number of enemies at you. The fighting sucks as well with not a whole lot of customization. If you're looking for something like this, I'd recommend The Madness of Little Emma.
