I didnt expect much but hell this is a gem !!!
I really hated this game. As a souls-like genre fanatic, this is by far my least favourite. My first couple hours was nothing but janky movement, getting stuck on grains of dust on the floor, getting stuck inside enemies and being hit from attacks that were completely away from me. It was so bad I uninstalled then gave it another chance the day after and had the same experience. If I could, I wouldve refunded it by now. There was nothing to get excited by, the bosses I did fight were bland and easy, the levelling system was boring and the entire game just seems like a massive maze where you are walking round in circles just trying to find the next area of the unfitting level design. My only positive is some of the weapons were cool to use, I personally enjoyed the twinblade and Kanas (I think they were called) before using a standard longsword mainly, and I thought the parry system was cool too. I really tried to give it a chance but I just found it so poorly designed that I complained about getting stuck on things in this game more than anything ive done in my life. Maybe one day I will return but I dont believe it will be any time soon.
This game is very special. It's been a long time since I've played it but I think about it a lot. It's quite the experience in many ways, from huge vistas to explore, a great art style, great soundtrack, and the mega structure itself was fun to unearth some of the secrets to. Where it does tend to fall apart however, is the gameplay, which is unfortunate because when it does work, it works well. However, what this game needs is basically a few updates to animations, the speed of some attacks, and a general tightening and polishing. You'll feel the jank when you play, and sometimes it does get in the way of the enjoyment of the general greatness that's on display here. Unfortunately, updates are extremely slow and I'm assuming done at this point. I wish it would be polished more, because I would absolutely love to revisit this janky masterpiece.
Extremely janky. Horizontal FOV instead of vertical, so it doesn't work properly on ultrawide. Really seemed like it had potential, but it didn't really live up to it. Probably still enjoyable if you don't care about jank and the fine details.
