Only played solo so far, but kinda cool party game. The mechanics rather favour the people at the back, so skill differences don't matter so much because the game incites a neck to neck battle. If you're behind you'll get boosts, if your in front you can't really shoot back so players with different skill will probably fit in and have a good time. I only have one hour in, but I will mention I do wish there were more weapons and little gimmicky things like ULTs per character or IDK. It's a good deal on sale and probably wont be THE party game of the night, but one of those "lets play this for 45min and move on" fun game.
veryyy goood soup
This is a good game that is close to being a great game but is held back by some flaws. An isometric racer with the 2 main gimmicks being that everyone is on screen at once and that the only way to get kills is to shove an opponent of the track. I love the way the game looks, the car designs are amazing. The gameplay itself is pretty fun, and the weapons feel good to use. The track design is well done, even if they're all unmemorable in layout and theming. The primary racing mode is fun, but the absolute highlight of the game is Death Race, where you survive trying to evade a gigantic steam roller. The entire game's mechanics feels balanced around this mode in particular, and it's just the right amount of chaos. If the entire game was just the Death Race mode, it would still be worth it. However, there are 3 things that hold it back. Keep in mind I have never tried multiplayer so this is purely from a single player experience. 1) - The central gimmick of having all the vehicles on screen can be frustrating since it can cause people to group up in the back and make getting ahead way trickier. This also makes player recognition harder as the cars can be difficult to decipher when there is a lot happening on screen. It's a gimmick that hurts more than it helps. 2) - Some of the bonus missions for story and star track are ridiculous. Things like reaching absurd amounts of points in one race, getting a specific number of kills or getting something with a specific weapon type can be frustrating to obtain because of the random nature of the game, it feels less like there is skill involved in beating these challenges and more pure luck. 3) - The King of the Hill race type is genuinely miserable. It is way more frustrating than it is fun, and some of the bonus challenges here are really annoying since you are trying to stay up front instead of getting kills.
