Abandonware, Don't Buy This.
I was re-categorizing my collection when I came across this game again. It really is a shame that it was abandoned by the developers, as this could've filled a Twisted Metal-size hole for many people—myself included. Obviously not completely, but the core mechanics and chaotic combat that made Twisted Metal such a hit were present here too, which made this game seem so alluring during its heyday. Since this game appears to have been abandoned (the last communication with the community was back on July 6th, 2020), the only reason I'd recommend checking it out is if you're absolutely curious about what could’ve been and want to experience it for yourself. It’s very much unfinished, and frankly, I don’t know that there’s enough residual substance to justify $7.99 USD in 2025. It would be nice if that changed one day, but if I had to guess when, I'd say probably around the time Hell gets a Slurpee machine and all the Miss America contestants get their wish for world peace—though even that might be too optimistic As some may remember from my past reviews, I have a rating scale, and here's how this one fares—though I’ve made a few adjustments to reflect the changing times.

[th]Score[/th] [th]Rating[/th] [th]Summary[/th]

5 out of 5 Perfect An exceptionally rare and amazing experience on nearly every level. The fun factor and overall usability far outweigh any minor shortcomings, making the product unquestionably worth the full asking price.

4 out of 5 Above Average While it's a good, if not great, product, there are noticeable issues. It's worth the full price, but if you can download a demo, play it on Game Pass, watch gameplay online, or wait for a sale on PC, that's even better.

3 out of 5 Average For various reasons specific to this product, the drawbacks are about equal to the entertainment and functionality it provides. Put simply, it is what it is. I recommend downloading a demo, playing it on Game Pass, watching gameplay online, or waiting for a sale on PC.

2 out of 5 Below Average The problems with this product are noticeable and overshadow the fun factor in most areas. Technically, it's a "complete" product, but far from desirable. If you're curious, watch gameplay online, download a demo, or give it a try through Game Pass. Otherwise, only consider picking it up in a deep sale on PC—at best.

1 out of 5 Poor The product was either fundamentally broken at launch, remains in an untenable state, was abandoned in early access before completion, or is a blatant attempt to scam the consumer. In every facet, it's an unmitigated disaster with very little, if anything, to praise. Unless you're a masochist, the best recommendation I can give is to watch gameplay online. Don't waste your money.

FINAL SCORE: 1 out of 5. For everyone else looking for even an okay experience to pass the time with, my ultimate verdict on Diesel Guns is: avoid. There are far better things to spend your time and money on, not to mention more scrupulous development teams behind those products—teams that don’t hide their true intent or lack of scope behind the guise of “early access.” Had the developers given this game the love it deserved, the long-term attention it needed, and actually had a plan and motivation to shape it into something in the long run, I could have easily given it a 3 or even 4 out of 5. But hindsight is 20/20, and knowing what I do now, I wouldn’t have even purchased it. Developers who abandon their games (i.e., take the money and run) and fail to communicate with their supporters should be banned from platforms like Steam outright. I’ll take it a step further: this is essentially fraud. Just like with failed Kickstarter or GoFundMe campaigns, we should hold these developers to the same standards. If the product doesn’t materialize after taking payment, there needs to be transparency about why, and contributors should get their money back—at an absolute minimum. No exceptions.
This game had great potential, but it was definitely abandoned. I definitely feel like I got scammed since not long after I purchased they just went silent.
Abandoneware, do not purchase. Thought it could be a fun LAN party game but it's not done enough for any multiplayer features. Hot Garbage.
abandoned, not very good

I bought this game back in 2019. It seemed like a cool concept and I bought Gas Guzzlers Extreme along with this game. The unfortunate circumstance was that Gas Guzzlers was cheaper and much better than this game, and there are alternatives to this game like Robocraft (and TerraTech I guess). The game was clunky and not fun, unfortunately I couldn't return it because I had it sitting in my Steam library for 2 months at that point. Now the game has been abandoned but it didn't seem like it had much hope to begin with. TL;DR: The game sucked and now it's abandoned
Trash
I was really excited about this game. It was like a modern Vigilante, or Twisted Metal, with amazing mechanics, and environmental details. Would easily be one of my favorite games, playing with friends, experiencing a story, completing missions, unlocking stuff, and just having fun with the game-play and satisfying destruction. I'm sad to see updates have stopped, and if I was an experienced developer, I'd offer to volunteer my time to help build this game, for free, just to see it reach complete. So much potential here, I really hope it doesn't just fizzle out like a defective firework, or a space shuttle that didn't make it off the launch platform. I'll never stop looking back at what could have been, or should have been.
Oh my god, this game is amazing. Just like Vigilante 8... it brings so many good memories.
