About
Black Skies is a grounded survival simulation set after an EMP attack that shuts down power, vehicles, and communication across a remote mountain wilderness. Modern systems fail all at once, leaving you to survive in cold, snow-filled terrain where mistakes have real consequences.
You play a forest ranger, with a military past, operating in the Teton Mountains of Wyoming when the event occurs. With infrastructure down and conditions worsening, survival depends on using your training, equipment, and judgment to navigate the environment and stay alive.
The world in Black Skies behaves in logical, real-world ways. Shelter blocks wind and cold. Fire produces warmth. Clothing insulates. Tools do what you expect them to do. Animals behave like animals: they forage, move in groups, and flee when you draw near. The game is built around clear cause and effect, allowing you to reason through situations instead of memorizing abstract mechanics.
Travel on foot through harsh terrain.
Manage cold, hunger, thirst, fatigue, health, and mental state.
Find shelter, build fires, scavenge supplies, and retrieve stashed gear.
Craft tools and cook food from what you gather and scavenge.
Make camp in the field: place a fire, pitch a tent, and rest to recover.
Decide when to move, when to stop, and how far to push based on conditions and risk.
As you explore, you encounter cabins, sheds, equipment, and signs of prior human activity scattered throughout the wilderness. Situations develop naturally as you move through the world, and how you approach them is up to you.
Realistic Survival Systems
Warmth, hunger, thirst, fatigue, health, and mental state are simulated based on real-world human biology.
Cold and Exposure as Core Threats
Weather, wind, terrain, and timing directly affect survival. Preparation and awareness matter.
Intuitive Interaction
Objects behave as you expect. Containers hold items. Fires require fuel and ignition. Tools have practical, specific uses.
Movement With Consequences
Traveling consumes time and energy. Poor decisions increase danger, while good preparation improves efficiency.
Usable Locations
Secure cabins and sheds, or make a temporary camp in the field with a fire and tent. They provide warmth, storage, and recovery, and your camp stays where you leave it, without turning the game into a base-building sandbox.
Emergent Situations
Events and challenges arise through exploration rather than rigid scripting, allowing players to engage with the world at their own pace.
Crafting and Cooking
Turn raw materials into tools and meals. Butcher game, melt snow for water, and cook food at a fire. Practical recipes grounded in the world, not a sprawling tech tree..
Wildlife and Trapping
The wilderness holds animals that behave like animals. Rabbits and deer live as populations that forage, gather in groups, and move between areas over time. They see and hear you, and they flee when you get too close. Set snares to catch game while you range elsewhere, but harvest an area too hard and it thins out until the population recovers. Track, trap, and butcher what you find, then cook it at a fire.
Not everything out there is afraid of you.
Black Skies is a deliberate survival game focused on realism, consistency, and meaningful decision-making. It is designed for players who want to survive by understanding their environment and responding to real conditions in a world that makes sense.

Reviews
The game looked like it would be fun, however my character dies from cold and hunger before the intro scene is completed and there is far too long of a delay between voice intro instructions which cause too much time to be wasted before you can actually play the game and causes the character to die due to cold ,hunger and lack of instructions during the intro. It could be a good game in the future after updates and fixes, but for now it is not very good.
I can see potential here but the game needs to be optimized. It is really laggy and not very fluid. Some spaces that i would deem to be walkable, aren't and that's difficult for an immersive experience. I will be watching the development of this game.
Terrible game has major optimization issues and currently unplayable.
Not a bad game with decent foundation to be something unique with further updates and fine tunning of certain systems ...recommend if you like to support the dev
Definitely has LOTS of potential. I really liked the premise of the game and the snowy atmosphere. Curios about the storyline too. Still needs a couple of more updates I'd say, but the dev said in the game he's actively working on it and updating with every new feedback the players provide so I'm very hopeful that this game will achieve its full potential and thrive. Time will tell, I guess, but for now, as an early release, I really like it!
