Bite Size Terrors: Erobos Heaven

This is an actual horror game and i am very yery yery impressed by the (solo!!!) developer. This game has so much content that most players would probably never even experience. It has an unique art style and is very much interesting to look at. The story leaves room for interpretation and doesn't explain everything to you (which is why you may start thinking about it by yourself instead of waiting for the game to spell it out for you). The voice acting and sound design are phenomenal and truely ascend the dread felt while playing. It is also genuinely a scary experience. In my very humble opinion this game is a horror masterpiece. For short (up to an hour) horror games this is an exceptional experience and the dev has A LOT of potential. A 10/10 in terms of short (up to an hour) horror games.

The vibes and atmosphere are absolutely incredible, top notch, especially at the start. The world, with masterful use of analog and digital effects like jpeg-style compression, slight over and under exposure enhance the realism of the setting without needing it to actually be fully realistic, which lead to genuinely the most tense I've been starting a videogame. I would recommend the game for this alone. However [SPOILERS AHEAD] Once the narrative actually starts going, it quickly lost its terrifying quality. Ultimately I think the ambiguity of not knowing was more terrifying than the knowledge of something being there. This ambiguity could have been expanded and exploited if the game focused more on the scene itself: The house is by itself the strongest part of the entire game. The narration, the monster design and the narrative itself were actually really, really well made and high quality and in another game they would've been the main selling point for sure, but in this context with so, so much potential, they ultimately made the experience a bit less than what it could be. I'm thinking of something more in line with the house or the setting being the monster instead of needing an external monster, somewhat like P.T (2014), Silent Hill 2 (2001), Twin Peaks (1990) , or Anatomy (2016). A lot of these do have monsters, but in these cases ultimately the setting is the monster, the antagonist. Reminds me of the concept of Heterotopia, a kind of "other space" that exists within society but outside of or devoid of its usual norms, a kind-of parallel in-between world that's neither a dystopia nor a utopia. [SPOILERS OVER] Overall, great game. Absolutely top notch setting. And my only gripe is that it could have been even better if it exploited its strongest aspects even more.

Лучшая хоррор игра в которую я играл за последнее время , а я играл во много игр. Она не пугает тебя скримерами , но она держит тебя в таком напряжении , что ты думаешь , что лучше бы тебе уже просто кинули скример. Очень атмосферное и напрягающее звуковое сопровождение. Очень хорошая игра , стоит каждой копейки. One of the best horror games i have played in a while and i have played a lot. It doesnt scare you with cheap screamers , but it is holidng you in a such tension that you beg for it to just give you a screamer, just not to experience this fear of the unknown and the neverending dread anymore . I'm normally bored playing horror games and don't have much interest. BUT. This was terrifying, unsettling and incredibly unique. Me and my girlfriend were both amazed by this little hidden gem and loved it. Can't wait for the next game :)

While this game is quite short, it packs a hell of a punch. It's very analog forward, and I don't see a lot of games outside of backrooms utilize that. There were multiple extremely tense moments that had me backing away from the screen. While not perfect, this game is the scariest I've encountered for a while
