Excellent game. Gets very difficult as it progresses.
I stayed up way past my bed time, out of part stubborness, part genuine enjoyment of the game. I had set my goal for the night to try and finish the first act. There were some obstacles but still, I perservered. Then came the Odyssey level. I thought "ok, that must be it, this was so long and so difficult, I will get to have a break now." Then came the last level, the boss fight. I thought then, how much longer could this possibly go on for? It felt like being trapped in purgatory as I failed over and over again, watching myself repeat the same mistakes again and again, only to be transported to the very beginning of the level. I have no idea how the other games play, and I'm not sure I ever care to find out. I sure do hope they have added a checkpoint feature or at least some sort of practice mode. Yeah, I know that reset are fast, yeah I know there is a point to the lack of checkpoints but whatever, I like to have FUN with my videogames sometimes. Is that such a crime? I write this with a heavy heart as I do truly believe this might be a so-called "good game". However, this was also one of the most infuriating experiences ever (personally) and it evoked emotions in me that I do not wish to feel while playing videogames. Ok, rant over. Uninstalling this one and shelving it.
BIT.TRIP RUNNER is a punishing but genuinely addictive rhythm auto-runner that had me completely hooked on its chiptune soundtrack and tight controls — until the brutal difficulty spikes nearly broke me. The way your button presses weave into the music is incredibly satisfying, and that dopamine hit when you finally clear a level you've been grinding is unlike anything else. That said, the zero-checkpoint design means you'll be replaying long stretches of levels you've already mastered just to die to something you couldn't have seen coming, which gets exhausting fast — especially around 1-11 and the final world. If you have patience and love a stiff challenge, this cult classic is absolutely worth it; if rage-quitting sounds like your nightmare, maybe start with Runner 2 instead.
EXTRA
PROS: BIT.TRIP RUNNER is one of the earliest rhythm platformers on Steam. Though it's age shows, it has a simplistic style that's very easy to understand. There are 36 levels of increasing difficulty alongside 33 bonus stages. The abilities one receives as the game progresses is thankfully well shown & telegraphed before they become seriously needed. The visuals are very bright & colorful, & the soundtrack has a solid beat that increases how much of it is heard as collectables are grabbed. CONS: This is a very difficult game, though some of it feels unfair. The sounds connected to one's actions, the entire rhythm part of the game, actually trails behind the actions by a small bit, leading to certain actions requiring the player to input them before the sound takes place. This leads into the game's only real issue. The majority of the actions needed are well telegraphed, but a select number of them are pure trial & error. Though this might be a case of needing quicker reflexes, some collectables are only visible for a split second before grabbing them. If one takes a hit, the entire stage resets, making some of the later stages brutal thanks to said trial & error elements. ACHIEVEMENTS: This list is quite the challenge. The majority are unlocked through progression & failing at certain points, but there are a few challenge ones that prove to be the hardest. ENDURE requires a playthough of a level's 12 stages in one sitting without pausing the game. RUNNING.HARD requires completion of the Perfect difficulty, a mode that resets you to start upon missing a single collectable. But the hardest are those tied to MASTER.RUNNER. This demands grabbing all collectables on every stage. The reason it's so difficult is that bonus stages can only be tried upon collecting everything in the standard stage, meaning failure in the bonus stage forces a player to go through the regular stage collecting everything each time one wants to try. This, alongside the trial & error moments that exist in the bonus stages means you're going to fail a lot before unlocking this. FINAL: BIT.TRIP RUNNER is a fun, stylized platformer that sparked a renewed interest in it's wake. It's a fun & fluid rhythm game that sadly trips on a few of the hurdles. Given that it has sequels, those hurdles may have been cleared better in those titles. For those looking back to purchase the start of the Runner titles in the BIT.TRIP series, this is worth a look, but only those dedicated will clear it.

A good beginning for this rhythm auto-runner series. The game has simple and easy to understand controls, and the gameplay is fun and addicting. The music is excellent and the adaptive bits enhance the player input with it. It's got a few problems though: * There isn't a checkpoint system like following entries, making the later levels quiet frustrating as they get longer and longer. * The game runs at 60fps but the background has a set motion blur that you can't deactivate, making hazards more difficult to anticipate on first runs, adn it can cause a little eye strain if playing for long sesions. * While on the subject of hazards and backgrounds, some of them are not distinguishable enough. This can feel a little cheap taking into account that getting hit takes you all the way back to the beginning of the level. In conclusion, a good introduction for the series and a fun and challenging rhythm platformer.
Esta bien, pero el problema, no conseguia poner la pantalla completa, consegui ponerla, al llegar al jefe, del nivel 1
