About
Build words, play cards, and take flight!
A deckbuilding word game inspired by Wordle, Scrabble and Balatro
Strategize, build your deck and build up your high score
Guide your adorable flock on a round-the-world migration
Roguelike elements – how far will your flock go?
Birdigo is an adorable mashup of Wordle and Balatro created by screenwriter John August (Corpse Bride, Charlie’s Angels) and developer Corey Martin (Bonfire Peaks, Pipe Push Paradise). Piece together words from your deck of letters and guide a flock of birds in their migration around the world!
Assemble letter cards into words, which add up into ‘flaps’ to send you further along your journey. Longer words score higher, but specific combos can turn short words into powerhouses. Use enchanted feathers, letters and songs to change the rules of the game as you go.
Build up your deck and develop your own strategy in each game. You’ll need to play carefully, as the distance gets further with each round. Stack up a massive high score and guide your flock to safety!

Quite a nice game; has most of the QoL you would want in a word game. Adorable birbs.
🔹 EXPECTATIONS: a friendly scrabble adaptation. 🔹 REALITY: a roguelike game with a birds' migrations theme. 🔶 Birdigo is a words game where you score points per letters used, like in Scrabble, and multiply that by a factor, like in Balatro, to get a high score. Its gameplay loop is fun at first but some design decision made every part not click together for me. 🔸 There are two ways of playing: making longer words that score more points (called flaps), or making shorter ones and rely on the multipliers (called feathers). If you go for longer, you rely on luck to get the right letters; if you go with shorter, you rely on luck to get the right multipliers. 🔸 It's a short game (or lacks content) and probably because of that, its difficulty is very high, as were games in the 80's. You'll replay a run again an again, doing your best to realise that, regardless of word's complexity or length, it just depends on luck to beat the required score. And it is fun until it's very frustrating. It has 6 levels (called migrations) unlocked once the previous is finished. Replaying a run over and over only highlights its limited amount of obtainable items, and the fact that you'll only make it when the right combination of those comes your way. 🔸 Birdigo (the full game) feels like the demo of Birdigo, and I don't remember the actual demo being so demanding. That also clashes with the friendly/chill aesthetic that the game presents. 🔸 In the end Birdigo is a roguelike first, with a words game theme. It could be easier, less reliant on luck, have more content, power-ups that widen the room for success or stages that extend its difficulty curve. Still, I recommend it only if you like discovering synergies between game elements. POSITIVES: 🙂+ 😄+ 😍+ NEGATIVES: 🙁- short 😠- 😡- difficulty
For more puzzle game reviews, news and everything puzzle-related, follow Puzzle Lovers and check out our Steam group.
Lots of potential since you actually use your word game skills unlike Cursed Words. Pros: - You actually use your word skills unlike Cursed Words. - Cute birds. Cons: - There needs to be a shop more often or after every fight, at some points you're fighting for your life to try and win and there's no way to improve. - I had a run where nothing in the shops had anything to improve flaps, just power, or very niche feathers which was frustrating. - Needs more game breaking feather things. - Length of the second run was a bit much. - The music is repetitive and not enjoyable. - Something about the art and the style of the game seems a little plain, repetitive and unfinished.
the design of this game is so cute and it's genuinely fun if you like and are good at scrabble! (and if you like making 4 letter words for most of it cause you start with 7 cards and they're mostly consonants) it's got a good dictionary with words you wouldn't normally see in a game like this so that's nice! I do think the 2nd path being double the length of the 1st one is kind of ridiculous especially when there's shorter paths after the 2nd one??? why is the 2nd longest path in the game your 2nd round??? it would make sense if you could pick any path but they're progress locked. I think that really kind of killed my enjoyment of the game cause i spent 2.5/3 hours on the 2nd path and could only get halfway once. so it quickly became a "how will I lose this time?" kind of experience which, shockingly, isn't an enjoyable way to approach a game for me.
Birds... and Word Games... Someone really just combined two of my favorite things?! Thank You!! Playing Birdigo has been such a delight. I love the migration flight theme of the game, plus the bird related terms for scores and cards are just fun - not to mention the mental exercise of anagram solving. There's so much satisfaction in figuring out an optimal strategy based on the chance upgrades offered in each run, and then seeing how choices I make can improve my scores. The game feels pretty well balanced, too. I'm also glad there are options in the settings to reduce graphics and animations, because my laptop battery was quickly draining before I turned those down. If you're into anagram types of word games, I highly recommend you give Birdigo a go!
This game is pretty straightforward and fascinating. The review that got me to download the demo is: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/the-end-is-nigh-for-balatro-and-wordle-have-had-a-terrible-avian-child "The end is nigh, for Balatro and Wordle have had a terrible avian child" Here are some playthroughs: https://www.youtube.com/@LexiconZGames Try the demo, if it's still available, or watch some playthroughs. STRONGLY recommend for a wordy game.
This is a cute and stylish game. Until you realize that your (above average) word gaming skills aren't enough to get past the RNG and difficulty spikes. I really wanted to like this game, but it is a brutal exercise in frustration.
Birdigo is a word puzzle game that mixes deckbuilding ideas with wordplay. You form words using letter cards while guiding a migrating flock, earning points through card effects and combo interactions. Different modes change the structure of each run, and the deckbuilding elements add strategy beyond simply finding the longest word. Pros ✔️ A fresh take on word games - Mixing letter puzzles with card effects gives it a different rhythm than traditional word games. ✔️ Card combos are satisfying - Certain cards interact with each other to boost scoring, which makes planning your plays more interesting than just spelling a good word. ✔️ Multiple game modes - Having different ways to play keeps it from feeling like a single daily puzzle you solve once and move on from. Cons ❌ Some mechanics are a bit convoluted - A few systems take longer than expected to understand. ❌ Missing some polish - Certain parts of the interface and presentation feel a little rough around the edges. ❌ Mechanics are not always explained clearly - You sometimes have to learn how things work through trial and error instead of clear guidance. Conclusion I ended up liking this quite a bit. Word games already tend to hook me, and the bird theme definitely helped. The card interactions give it enough strategy that it feels different from the usual puzzle format. It still has a few rough edges, but I kept finding myself playing another round. Score 8/10 Migrating Words - A clever word game that flies in a different direction.
