It's huh, fun, but it lacks checkpoints. It's so redondant having to go back to the main menu after you die, having to do the first level, only to die again in the beginning of the second level. Ugh.

It is very hard to control the motorcycle in this game because it bounces around so unpredictably. I could just barely get through the first stage and the second stage is even harder.

I was excited to try this because it reminded me of a game I used to play on Commodore 64 called kickstart. Sadly this game is poor, has bad physics, and level design that makes you immediately angry. The very first level has a row of boxes you MUST plow through, AND which then get caught in front/between your tires and frustrate your attempt to make it to the end of the map. There is no challenge of any kind it is just a frustration that you cannot avoid. The second map has you trying to smoke this bike down a humongous fall without brushing anything on the way down, but the game hasn't given you sufficient chance to understand how the bike is even controlled. the previous level failed to do anything except frustrate the player, instead of guiding them on how the bike physics work. Let's not forget that it's a permadeath game so you make one wrong move and you're back to the start of the first level which you can only complete 50% of the time because it's broken with the stupid box physics. I think this game could be saved if the level design is revisited, reconsidered from the ground up and redesigned.
Bike Dash Excite is a simple little game very reminiscent of Excite Bike to me. You drive a motorcycle and need to overcome various difficult obstacles to progress further throughout the game. Pros: -Nostalgia of similar games from previous era. The pixel graphics and music are a perfect strike for this game. -This is basically a demo for Pixel Game Maker MV, to showcase what the software can do and is capable of. Definitely does this right. -It's free, and fun to play for a few minutes or so when you are bored. Cons: -Rather short to complete, but this is expected from what is essentially a software demo. This is great if you are looking for some nostalgia and great pixel graphics. Worth a look 7/10

Accidently Reviewed
Free Games? Reviews? Competitions? Amazing Community? We got it all! Bike Dash Excite! is as much an advertisement as it is a serious attempt at making a game, and it's not particularly good at either of those things. At face value this is a mobile app-tier game that's been dumped on Steam. It's a simple 2D retro pixel leftward scrolling physics puzzle/runner where you must control a 2D retro pixel dirt bike by alternating between left to progress and right to brake. The fact that this is a leftward scrolling game makes me convinced the developers have never before seen a video game, but decided to try making one anyway. As a game, this really is a bit of a failure. The game displays in a low, locked/unchangeable resolution with no working fullscreen. Controls are locked, and settings can't be changed or customised to improve the visuals or the control experience. A choice was made to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. So on to the main purpose of this "free" "game". It's an advertisement for Playism's crap video game construction kit, Pixel Game Maker MV. What Playism don't seem to understand is that if you want to advertise a product, you should make your advertisement show off that your product is of good quality... so using garbage like Bike Dash Excite! (a game where they couldn't even work out how to display in full screen!) to advertise your product is like using salmonella to advertise Jack-in-the-Box.
Bike Dash Excite!

Great demo of Pixel Game Maker MV! We can see common features of classic games like Excite Bike, Sonic, and that "physics based motorbike game". It's simple so far, but there is great potential for players to discover all kinds of weird techniques, and that helps to make a game fun over multiple plays. ( of course, most 80's - 90's games don't have physics this realistic. A lot of us may want to dial it back a bit ; - ) As with that last one, I keep wishing the driver could turn around to face the other way. ( - 8 Noticed it doesn't work with controller yet?
