I played Big Thinkers Kindergarten in the late ’90s as a kid on our Gateway computer running Windows 98. I’m definitely too old for a game like this now, but nostalgia got the better of me, so in 2026 I picked it up for my four-year-old. While I do wish it had a few modern quality-of-life updates and clearer audio in some spots, the game still absolutely nails the audience it’s meant for. My child was fully engaged, having a blast, solving puzzles and answering math questions, all while still getting more comfortable using a mouse. He was laughing and smiling as he collected Smart Stars, and enjoyed the creative cast of Becky and Ben and the world’s objects that come to life around them. It was great to see. If you have a little one who’s just starting to explore computers and you want something imaginative with real educational value, you can’t go wrong with Big Thinkers Kindergarten.

As the name implies, this is a game for very young children. What I remember most from playing this back then was the sandbox game. I thought it was really cool to see this whole miniaturized world, and the hide and seek thing was fun. Now that I am grown and revisiting this as part of an extended revisit of all of these childhood games, I kinda feel like I just experienced a fever dream that took place on the set of a children's tv show with elements of body horror. Anyways, I recommend picking this up to help teach your younger kids, ideally on sale and part of the Humongous Entertainment Complete Pack.

Only recommended to actual Kindergarten kids. I am not the target demographic. I bought it in the humble bundle so I can't really complain too much.

It hurts to think that I had way more fun in an educational game than I have in "mature" ones.

Got this for my daughter, she did not enjoy it even slightly and neither did i.

The title does not have support for modern PCs and defaults to a stretched resolution which is jarring to play, even for a younger audience. Switching to windowed mode makes the graphics sharper but the game screen is so tiny and hurts your eyes. This is better off ported onto a mobile device to better reach their intended audiences.
