I'm amazed by the quality of the artwork of this game as well as the soundtracks. I loved every moment of it and the story kept me on the edge of my seat. The story about Sam, a man searching for his wife who mysteriously disappeared 6 months ago. He didn't give up looking at her and even befriended a homeless man, the only witness of her disappearance. There are two episodes out already as I'm writing this review. It is really worth playing. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2028512469 Although there are only a few areas to visit in the game, the details and artwork of each area are outstanding, I love the artwork so much. the mini-games and puzzles are not bad, except for the safe dials one which I had to close the game a couple of times to make it work. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2285405529 The soundtracks are very good, fits the atmosphere of the game nicely. I liked the idea of playing with two different characters, I'm looking forward to seeing what the third game will add to the story. I wished the game was voiced, it would give more depth to the angsty story, also there should be an objectives list. I wouldn't know what to do next or what I've done if I have stopped the game for a couple of days. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2285456335 Pros: +Interesting story. +Beautiful artwork. +Beautiful soundtracks. +Good game length. (Has three episodes, two are out already) +Good puzzles and mini-games +Steam achievements. Cons: -No objectives list. -No voice overs. -No hinting system. I can't wait to play the third episode. I will update this review once the third episode is out. I still recommend this [incomplete] game to all Point&Click lovers.

Beyond This Side

At the time of writing (8/10/2020), episode 3 hasn't been released yet, so the game is not yet complete.

First Impressions
I like to play point and click games from time to time and "Beyond This Side" seemed interesting because of the original art style. The graphics appear to be handdrawn and have a nice aesthetic to them. It's one of the game's only strong points. However, it's not like you haven't seen it before. The visuals aren't mindblowing or refreshing.
Story
Having played the first two episodes, I'm not sure if I'm going to play the third when it's released. The story barely kept me interested throughout the first episode. They tried to add some mystery towards the end of episode 2, but unfortunately failed miserably. The ending was nothing more than a letdown and definitely doesn't invite the player to buy the last episode.
What's so bad about it?
The excessive amounts of text (in Comic Sans, mind you) make the game feel extremely slow and sluggish. The meaning of this is probably to draw you into the universe of 'Beyond This Side' and to flesh out the characters, but all you're getting is mundane information that only bores the living hell out of you. It keeps dragging on... I couldn't care less which movie the girl liked as a teenager or that her bookshelf will probably collapse in the near future. Some games can draw you into their world with this kind of info, "Beyond This Side" clearly could not. Besides that, I didn’t find the puzzles particularly engaging. Most of them are either too easy, reliant on trial and error, or a couple of tedious tile-sliding puzzles that are almost exactly the same. In other words, not fun or innovative. They add nothing to the story or aren't remotely related to it. And again: they are nothing you haven't seen before. If that wasn't enough, you have to do the same lackluster puzzles multiple times throughout the game. Reconstructing photos, moving junk around to find a camera, sliding blocks in their designated slots. They aren't fun the first, but the third time you'll be really glad they added a SKIP button.
Conclusion

"Beyond This Side" is a game I wouldn't recommend at all. The story didn't intrigue me and the puzzles were bland. Of course, you couldn't do anything wrong with spending €5 on a game. Maybe you'll enjoy it. Just remember you could spend that €5 on a way better game. By the time episode 3 comes out, I will have forgotten about this game entirely. I'll probably play it, just so I haven't wasted my time completely by playing the first two episodes.

*Note that this game is incomplete. 2 out of 3 episodes have been released as of this writing (Sep 2, 2020). My playtime: 3.2h (based on steam, 100% achievement) Grindy Achievement: No (there are 2 achievements where you have to do nothing for 5 minutes though). Optional Achievement: Yes (12 achievements). Difficult Achievement: No.
Intro
Beyond This Side is a point-and-click game where you have to find clues of your missing wife. The game has 2 out of 3 episodes released in total. Pros: - Beautiful artwork - Unique puzzles Cons: - Some puzzles might take some time to understand while some require trial and error to finish
Should you buy this game?
Yes. Actually, I recommend you to buy this game after episode 3 comes out. If you still want to buy it, do it when the game is on a discount since it's pretty short. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In-Depth Review

Graphics
The graphics of this game are very good for a point-and-click game. Every scene looks like 3D at first glance even though it's made in 2D. The backgrounds also match well with the foregrounds and they are made in the same style as the characters.
Story
The game has a prologue that doesn't run smoothly when I ran it; some frames tend to be skipped that I needed to watch it several times to see the full scene. I wasn't sure how the prologue connects to the main story yet but the story is about a man who is looking for clues of his wife's disappearance. The story itself flows well and it gives you more suspense near the end of each episode. Sadly, the game isn't finished yet so you can't see the conclusion.
The game
Controls and Mechanics Since this is a point-and-click game, I didn't expect that I had to move with WASD or arrow keys; I clicked everywhere in the first few minutes after I could control myself, hoping that my character would walk that way. Unlike other point-and-click games, interactable objects are also marked with a blue circle so you don't have to randomly click or hover your mouse to every object that you see. To be honest, this game feels more like a visual novel instead of a point-and-click to me. You don't have to try finding objects that you can use nor combine more than one object. Heck, there aren't that many objects that you can pick up in the first place. Most objectives are straightforward and even if you are stuck, the game usually tells you what to do. Puzzles Some puzzles require trial and error to solve while some are difficult to understand. There is this puzzle where I had to figure out how to dial an old telephone even though I already knew which number to press, another puzzle where I had to remember a 9-digit combination that I got after I finished another puzzle, and many others. Luckily, you can skip all puzzles after 10 minutes has passed. Aside from the annoying ones, the puzzles are unique compared to other point-and-click games and I enjoyed some of them. Length I finished the first episode in around 1 hour and the second one in around 1.5 hours. The rest of my playtime was spent to get 100% achievements, including obtaining 2 achievements to wait for 5 minutes without doing anything.
Conclusion
It's a point-and-click game that feels more like a visual novel game because it's very straightforward. The game also has unique puzzles that you can solve. A very short game and the puzzles are very easy. Plus the game does not make you feel like "you are solving anything". I believe it is the most essential thing for an adventure game: to give you the feeling that you have solved or done something. Finally, it is not mentioned anywhere that this is just the two episodes of the game... if it is... my appologies but i did not see it.
Beware! This is an unfinished game! Crickets from the developers ( I was really enjoying it too!)
Ignore the positive reviews. Game's a scam
Store page doesn't say it's episodic and not finished, and since it's been apparently 2 years now since last episode, won't be finished.
Buyed it when it was supposed to be finished. The game seems dead from a long time now. Only 2/3 of the game is done and translations are lot of the time so bad in french that i have to play in english in second act to understand what they want to say.
Played this a long time ago, there was supposed to be more content added. Well, years later nothing, and the puzzles on this shouldn't really be classified as puzzles. Hard pass
