I was impatient to finally be able to play this game and it was definitely worth the wait! A really good game with cute moments, lovable characters, great music and a lighter story~ Helping Edward paying off his debts and watching him grow as a character was so rewarding! Plus, both romance give more details about the character, be it through his personality or past (especially with Francis' route). And if you prefer to see Alex with someone else from Beyond Eden, you can always play cupid. A feature that I've never seen in any of VN I have played! The game doesn't feel repetitive as you have lots of things to do during this journey (uncovering mysteries, solving cases, gambling...) Again, the VA did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life, especially for the three main characters! It was awesome! (The bloopers and special episode got me laughing hard). The CGs are all magnificent with great alts for the steamy ones! A great experience for me whose a big fan of Beyond Eden (and of Edward)! I totally recommend it!
I am a fan of life sims and the original Beyond Eden so of course I liked this game.
Beyond Eden: Dear Edward is a satisfying sequel/side story for fans of the original game. In contrast to the latter's dark and tense atmosphere, Dear Edward is a more lighthearted telling of the aftermath of Jeremy's route and the struggles of the Edenic family to remain in good standing with their aristocratic status in London. This time, Edward is the main character (we cheered!!!), but a cute yet obviously inexperienced one who once again gets himself indebted to Alex. Alex Wake—the protagonist of the first game—and Francis Taylor—who happens to be Eddie's old dormmate and school friend—also appear as LIs. The stat-raising mechanic of the game is pretty straightforward, and certain events require X amount of points in X stat to achieve favorable outcomes and some endings. However, only a few stats are really important to focus on in most routes, such as Observation/Deduction or Gambling and Spiritual Powers (the moneymaking skills), which makes others (e.g., Latin, Estate Management) quite obsolete. Although this makes stat grinding a bit of a pain, it's nothing too difficult with save files and having Eddie ignore some characters throughout the game. Fulfilling the debt is quite easy/fast too. In order to explore different career choices or love interests for Eddie (and to get achievements), however, multiple runs are required. For Alex/Edward fans, this game is quite rewarding as it allows for Edward to romance Alex in a better state of mind and maturity compared to the first game. It was quite sweet to see Eddie work up the courage and gradually approach his crush more. Although Alex does have chemistry with a few more other characters, it was satisfying to see him depend on the younger man for once—plus, I'm weak to puppy love. Francis felt a bit lackluster and got the shorter end of the stick, partly due to his backstory not being fully fleshed out as Alex's in the first game. However, his endings and relationship with Eddie are also sweet. I especially loved the one where they both end up
exploring the world together.
If Eddie doesn't end up with Alex, he can also play cupid to help him become happy with someone else (reading the mini stories for each pair after finishing the game is a must). Compared to the first game, the art style and voice acting have considerably improved. My only complaint lies with the EN localization showing a few proofreading errors towards the end, especially in the special voice actor greetings ("Dead Edward," for example, being one hilarious/horrifying typo). Even for those who aren't Edward fans, I highly recommend playing this after reading Beyond Eden for a happier ending to all characters!
I love Edward Sooooo much!! So did Alex, though I haven't played its first game, I can still feel the charm of each characters
This is the tamer, more wholesome spin-off/sequel of the first Beyond Eden released by Studio PiePlus. Unlike the first game, Dear Edward is actually more of a dating simulator than a visual novel. In this game, Edward has 52 weeks to pay off his debt to Alex while at the same time romancing between Alex and Francis, a guy he knew from boarding school long ago. The tone of Dear Edward is much more lighthearted and comedic compared to Beyond Eden. And the 18+ scenes are also much more wholesome as whether you choose Alex, Francis
or both
, the sex are all fully consensual. The stat management mechanics of this game is pretty forgiving, so it won't hinder your enjoyment of the story. My only issue for Dear Edward is that the game crashes more often whenever I skip the dialogue. But other than that, it's still a good game.
