This is a very smooth puzzle game. It pairs polished presentation with quick, satisfying pacing. The two tiered solutions make it feel like progression is a constant reward and the struggle for perfection is your own choice to make.
Cute, fun, and genuinely challenging in a good way
Betty & Earl is a clever little puzzle game with a great atmosphere. The game's main gimmick leads to some fun out-of-the-box thinking, which I found really satisfying. Having to keep all of the objects on the board, even the hostile ones, in mind as if they were "you" makes for a really unique experience that few games can match. And while the game leans a little on the shorter side, there's plenty of variety in the puzzles to keep things interesting the whole way through. Highly recommended to anybody with even a passing interest in puzzle games.
Last puzzles that doesn't show the actual area entirely or around half - not that fun, and it is just frustrating. It was fun before this stage, and now I lost all the fun I had with this game. Randomly pushing arrow keys is not a puzzle.
Wonderful. A tad short, but perfect length if you like small bits of gameplay and long breaks to think about where you might be stuck. Some puzzles can be overcome with arbitrary movements, but further understanding of the mechanics, and the sub-objectives of solving the meta-mystery of hints throughout the levels, motivate lots of replays and appreciation of the unique structure and presentation. I can't think of a game with this type of novel interaction and puzzle design since Braid, which is very different than this, but offered a nice, casual, accessible, novel experience in a similarly enjoyable way.
In just a few moments, Betty and Earl perfectly captured what it feels like to be in a relationship, and furthermore, a family. You and your significant other scurry around from here to there, sometimes together and other times apart -- always looking for an opportunity to share a quick embrace and remind each other: I love you. As that relationship grows and matures, others will conspire to steal your attention; perhaps even demand it. Advice on what to do may even seem like a completely foreign language to you when you're in the thick of it. Most familiar to us all though; would be the ever-present monocular red triangle. Plotting. Scheming. Multiplying. ...or perhaps just an undeveloped metaphor because I need to play more. Buy this game, and it will change your life. (Even if that change is as straightforward as being able to play this game whenever you'd like.) Thank you, Giant Light Studios. Thank you.
yum yum
Great game. The puzzles are really well-crafted and occasionally confounding, which is exactly what I want from a puzzle game. It's really clever how the levels are reused with different mechanics since it kind of lets you feel like you're dealing with something familiar while trying to absorb a new element of the game. I love the minimalistic visual design with the paper cutout look for the backgrounds. The audio is similarly minimalistic and really satisfying. Really enjoying this one!
Fantastic sokoban game. Really clever and inventive. Would recommend for all sokoban appreciators.
Cute, relaxing, enjoyable.
