Disclaimer: I recieved this product for free to give it an honest review as I am friends with the developer. Beta Runner, like it's previous game Alpha Runner, is a casual game where you have to collect the little dot thingy's (I don't know what they are called). The game is made by Lightsoutgames. From playing 30 minutes of the game, (which is all you really need to find out what this game is all about) I've gathered a few pro's and con's about the game, just my opinion though. - Pro's: Like the first game, it can be a little addicting to play (To the point where you would play it again, but you've got that AAA title that you have yet to play so you go play that instead). The game is the sort of game you'd smuggle onto a memory stick into a school or college and upload it onto the public drive so everyone can play it when they are bored in class. But in all seriousness, this game is fun, but in short bursts. I doubt many would sit and play this for hours at a time (except maybe the developer), it's one of those games you'd play while you try to figure out what your going to have for lunch. Or your waiting for a phone call from a potential employer or your granny. I do recommend this game as it can be quite a time filler if your out of options or just bored. (Though isn't that the reason a lot of people play games anyway?) The achievements are rather easy to get, so if your an achievement gremlin, you might like this game for your collection. - Con's: I keep getting double tapped by the same enemy/object in this game and lose loads of health. The life loss cooldown should be increased, because it's REALLY annoying. The dev told me I was just bad, but I'll rally troops against his game and have this increased, I'll see to it. I doubt I'll ever get a higher score than 5 points until that is sorted. (My current score is actually 72). Overall, the game is good for short term fun, I doubt many people buy these kinds of games to expect the same amount of hours you'd get in a game like Garry's Mod, or GTA V etc. I'd give this game a 7/10 for it's old school feel, like Paper's, Please.

_____________8__88_____8 ____________88_8__8_____8 ___________888_____88___88888 __________8888______88_8____88 _________8888_______88______8_8 _________8888_______88______8_8 _________8888_______8_______8 _________8888_____8_______8 __________88888____8______8 ___________8888888______8 __888_________88888_8 8888888________88_____ _8888888_______8_____ __888888_______88_____ ___88_____8_____8_____ ____8______8____8_____8_88 _______8888_8__88_8_88888 _____888888_8_88__8888888 ____8888888__88______88888 ____88888_____8_________888 ____88_________8__________8 _____8_________8_____ _______________8_____ ____________8_8_____ _____________88_8_____ ______________88_____ ______________8_____
Beta Runner is a free 2D retro pixel "platformer" where you run along a corridor and flip gravity while avoiding obstacles. The game is designed to scale with your skill level. It was slapped together with the godawful GameMaker Studio 2, which produces a lot of garbage games because it's a garbage game construction kit. They chose to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution and controls are locked. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. The developer seems to have made the game completely free, and while this is a noble demonstration of the developers belief in their game and a service to the gaming industry, the quality here is still too low that I would recommend to other gamers, even for free.

Good game, even though replay value not really much nor addicting, but it's short fun.
