1.0 good... :)
On the simple side, but reasonably satisfying for it. Combat largely rewards mastery of fundamentals: spacing, timing, and identifying windows of opportunity to go on the attack vs. when it is necessary to be defending and repositioning instead. Items and abilities are impactful and swingy, but continued success still comes down to fundamentals. Reasonably generous amounts of hitstun and the ability to negate projectiles with melee attacks means that there are multiple valid tactics to deal with most situations, and the aggressive choice is accordingly higher risk and higher reward. My only criticism is that it'd be nicer to expose a few more numbers; it's somewhat unsatisfying to select a third or fourth stack of an item without any insight as to how much it's actually going to improve the ability it offers, given an unknown amount of diminishing returns per item stack. That's a small nitpick; on the whole, the game certainly exceeded my expectations relative to its appearance. Good job.

A ton of fun to just put on by itself or while waiting for something. While I prefer some characters, all of them have their merits and are worth trying out. The build paths are all fun and engaging, and the randomness of items forces you to be on your toes and flexible for the challenges that come at you. Highly recommend, if the game had a visual overhaul it would be in my top picks for rougelikes
If you like Berserk you'll like Berserker's Descent, I'm normally not into these slasher roguelikes but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game is fun.
stylish, incredibly difficult and extremely satisfying gameplay. with online co-op! Thoroughly enjoying this one. Just a tip for multiplayer. If you start the game after getting the "new player incoming" message but BEFORE the "new player connected" message there will be issues. Otherwise it works flawlessly.
Do not be deceived by its appearance; the combat is very impactful, and the developer nailed the game feel.
BERSERK
This game has absolutely great combat, probably the best 2D combat of any game I've played. There seems to be a lot of depth I haven't yet become proficient in, like perfect cancels, special cancels, juggling, and assorted tricks to maintain high style. I haven't even tried the other classes since I've been enjoying the starter one so much. I will definitely be playing more of this soon, so this review might get updated with some new comments once I've played some more hours. The game technically has roguelike elements, with occasional shops letting you buy from a couple items. There doesn't seem to be a huge array of items (edit: there seems to be more than I originally thought. I think buying the "unidentified items" in the shop unlocks new ones, so there's actually a decent selection), but every one has different meaningful effects. Very few are simply stat upgrades, most give interesting little perks like "launch opponents when blocking their attacks" or "shoot a magic blade on special move use", so they feel unique and varied even if there aren't hundreds like other roguelites. I'd say it feels more like a really good arcade game than a roguelite, since your combat ability is far more important than your items and the item build you end go for simply augments your moveset or adds new options on top. Overall it's an extremely tight combat system wrapped in just enough framing to keep it consistently interesting. I notice a lot of other reviewers don't like the art, but I think the motion reads very well and it's got a lot of charm. Absolutely recommended if you like 2D melee combat. It's a shame its not better known.
