The gameplay here is a ton of fun and the variety of skills seems pretty good for a game just released to early access. There weren't any major bugs and even multiplayer worked smoothly. That being said, there are two pretty major issues with the game right now: 1) There's only one dungeon and one arena available to play through per day. As a first time player it took about 4 hours to complete both of these in a 3 player co-op game, but I'd guess that if we knew what we were doing we'd be done in less than half that. After that the only options are to replay something I'd just done or wait 24 hours for something new. I'd understand if leaderboards and completing daily challenges is only available in daily missions, sure, but why limit us from enjoying more of the game at all? 2) The way new skills are unlocked for character building is by purchasing dice sets. These can be bought with in game currency or with microtransactions. Ignoring my opinions on microtransactions, especially in an early access game, let's look at buying with in game currency. The game starts you off with one common set of dice, enough currency to buy one more common set, and three vouchers to redeem for pick-one-of-three pulls. The store page says there are over 130 sets, and from the start we have 5. How long would it take to unlock the rest? Well, the only way to gain currency is by completing daily and weekly challenges. Completing *every* one of those challenges within a week gives enough currency to unlock 9 common sets. If every set were common it would take 14 weeks of completing all the challenges every day. Based on what I've seen of the store, each of the four rarities of sets has double the cost of the previous. I don't know the rarity distribution of sets, but I'm pretty sure it would take a long, long, time to come close to to having a complete set. On the whole, I don't think I can recommend this game in its current state. There's a lot of potential there but it really needs work. I might play more of the game as is, but it's not one I'll keep coming back to unless they fix the big problems and improve player experience
The game definitely is what it looks like in the video preview. It's got good bones, and if the devs keep going there is a good experience too be had. Don't go in expecting Hades, or Bauldur's Gate 3. The game has a weird difficulty curve. Things seem easy, and then you're dead, and back in the pub. It all seems a bit abrupt. I've played both Dungeon and the Arena mode, and both are unique and squarely good. For under $10 bucks, it is definitely worth the cost of entry if this sort of game appeals to you. It's a simple leveled turn based loot game with dice sets that function as classes. The UI is immediately familiar. I'm not sure what's on the road-map, but it seems pretty well fleshed out for an early access title. The game has a 'dice store' where you can buy dice sets for real dollars, if that turns you off, but it's easy to avoid, so I don't mark it down much for that. It looks like you can unlock sets with achievements, but I'd recommend (if the devs are reading this) adding one or two lower level achievements to get the players immediately familiar with the dynamic. It feels, almost 4 hours in, like there's not much meta progression, but I don't know if it's just slow, or is non-existent. My character seems to level, but there's not much feedback about what that means exactly. I'll keep playing for a few more sessions and see if it sticks. I do love the narrator voice. I'm not sure if they are voice recording or generating the audio with AI, but the narrators voice spoke today's date in Arena mode. If this is AI generated, I cannot tell by listening to it. If it generates unique arbitrary banter for every run, that would be a pretty cool use of AI content generation. I'll be curious to try over the next couple of days and see how it changes. I'm going to give it a tentative thumbs up because I feel I already got my $7.00 worth of entertainment out of it, and I can tell there was a lot of work put into the game. 100% bug free experience on launch day is commendable. Nice work devs!
Came back after the recent update and the game is in a much better state. Solid improvements all around
Feels great to unpack the dice, and the art’s really nice. The update added a lot more content, big improvement.
I was really looking forward to this game based on the info here on the storepage but really dismayed when I saw the dice store inside the game. I could not find any information about what is in the store vs what you can unlock by playing the game but it reallys tuns me off that you can just pay more money to get more stuff. I would much rather pay a higher intial price and then have access to all of the game. I tried it for one hour or so until the cursor disappeared on level 4 of a dungeon and when i restarted the game all progress was lost. There was definitely some bugs along the way and the balance felt off at times. There is some potential in the game so I will keep following to see what happens but for now I will refund and wait.
Been on my radar since the first release, was a bit turned off by the in app purchase side of things, but devs seems to have balanced this out with loads of ways to get golden shards from completing quests and challenges. To be fair, it was only when a friend talked about the latest update that I considered it again. Surprised to see how much of the feedback the Devs have listened to. Really feels like the they care about a future for the game and we players think. Nice! Single player – Loved it. Felt really relaxed at first, but do not be fooled, make the wrong choices in character builder, and you will not make it out of the dungeon. If you like fast turn-based stuff, seriously give it a go. For the early access and the amount of fun it's been, it’s a bargain, and if the devs continue to listen, then I can only see this getting better. Not played Multiplayer yet, but based on what I’ve seen for a casual bit of fun stomping goblins with your mates, it's worth giving it a go. Only thing I'd say at this point - Devs if you are listening??? - a bit more variety to the music would go a long way.
UPDATED as of 24/10/25 - Hopped in after the recent update and was really impressed with what the devs have done since i last played. can earn dice way faster now with quests which is cool plus im a big fan of the gauntlet one as i prefer quicker sessions for grinding challenges out. accolades were a bit hard to find but once i knew where to go was happy to see them ticking up for playing the game - nice ! OLD - I've played about 2 hours so far and there are some good moments for sure, looking forward to seeing what the devs do with it going forward... would like more ways to earn dice tho, even if it means grinding a bit
Beneath the six is a dungeon crawler roguelike with co-op mechanics that resets an Arena and a Dungeon daily. You choose from a series of rolled character classes and progress through either the arena or the dungeon on the day. There are daily challenges to get their "in game currency" that are easily doable and then circumvents the need to spend money in their in-game economy. They also start you with multiple characters to choose from. Overall this game will be highly familiar to fans of roguelites, dungeon crawlers, and top down hex grid game players. For the price point (even with a few occasional bugs) it's definitely worth the money for a fun several hour co-op experience. There's a robust roadmap of content to come and excited to see what the devs do to evolve this game!
i usually play console games but a saw an ad for this and thought it looked pretty nice. loving the feel of the dungeons and can imagine putting some time into exploring the different rooms - clearly a lot of thought has gone into this so far. looking forward to future updates ! is there some info on what those updates might be? will keep an eye out tho
