Diggy diggy hole. Quick, devs back, post nude dwarfs 1.5Gb patch just hit, adding some things that felt missing or otherwise were unpolished. With promises for expanded game modes yet to come. Great little dwarf-colony-dungeon crawler.
Great game, I love the idea. Build and expand your dwarven kingdom by digging and clearing caves of mobs, while defending the entrance from enemies. This game is so good it makes me go every map until the end, even though by the late game the frame rate goes down to -10 fps, which by the way, together with some balancing stuff (personally I found the game kind of easy, even in higher difficulties) are the only downsides imo
A fun Dwarven Sim builder/strategy. The game is about a dwarven king settling a mountain range, having to explore, exterminate and build up a kingdom, all the while orcs are launching waves of bloodthirsty warriors with the intent to wipe out every dwarf in sight. It's made by a solo dev, which is quite impressive. So far the game only really needs optimization, as the later parts of the game can get a bit laggy. The game has dwarven units, dwarven buildings, dwarven runic magic, dwarven armor upgrades, dwarven tech upgrades and is generally full of dwarf - which is very good, if you like dwarfs. I do, so this game is right up my alley :)
I want to like this game. I really do. But it puts the EARLY into recently out of early access? 2.5 hours in and can't even figure out how to save my game / there is no option or proper button. Makes me very sad.
As I understand it, this is a one person studio. The UI and pathing are a problem. Give it a chance. If this was making enough money to keep the lights on for the dev with the same problems, sure sure have at them. If this is their second job? Take it easy. Advice to dev: Fix these 2 issues. Halt whatever else is going on in the game dev process and focus on this. You will do your game a world of good and make the haters look for other things to complain about.
At this time, dont recommend. I love dwarven theme and this game would be so much more fun if it was polished. I dont really like games where basic mechanics work form time to time. Like Army groups, I want to select Tunnel Rats not get carpel tunnel. I respect level or roleplay here, dwarves dont like hights. But it is really hard to defend when your guys choose if this day is not the right one to climbs walls and shoot from above. When game even on medium and ultra looks similar but tries to burn your graphics card to ashes even though frames stay the same. Not a fan Fix some basic bugs and it will be super awesome game to chill and fight orc Also one big mistake, you cant place dirt blocks or stone to block paths, if it is digged you cant put it back. You can place wall and slow or redirect enemies but not really make trap fun park for orcs to die, which is what you need if u want to survive big waves. There is also alot of good things this game does, like having your troops carry certain items which makes then into little heroes. Overall great concept and new fresh take on dwarfs/dungeon keeper style game but it needs more love.
A fun little game that doesn't have a lot of bugs, sort of has big pacing issues though. I find you tend to have a very strong healthy kingdom that has basically everything before you really even start exploring much. So the exploring ends up feeling more like a chore and a time sink/grind rather than something interesting. I think the tech tree just moves way way too fast.
The passion and detail that went into this unique RTS from a single developer is mind boggling. The artwork, lore, unit variety is staggering. Every run is different and presents a fun opportunity to strategize, design a functional base defense, and hold off hordes of enemies, while racing to attain the heart of the mountain. I enjoy watching others play this game almost as much as playing it myself. There are some bugs, frame rate issues and other problems that will hopefully be resolved in time. It would be a shame to miss out on this experience if one was not willing to put the time in to learn how to play it. Once you get past the learning curve this game cooks and provides an intense experience not for the faint of heart. Blizzard wishes this was their game to polish and support.
