About
From the creator of Chicken Feet comes Below Nowhere, a first-person survival horror game about life, memories, second chances, and the Meat Man.
Trapped deep underground during humanity’s final war, you are pulled into a shifting reality built from memories that aren’t yours. Each place is different, yet they all share a tragic similarity: dried bloodshed.
You aren't alone. The Meat Man feasts on evil and death.
A trickster, the animalistic Meat Man likes to play with his food.
The Meat Man enjoys causing you pain and suffering more than anything.
The Meat Man will try to rip you apart piece by piece. Individual body parts can be injured, altering your abilities.
When heavily damaged, be wise! Medicine bottles are scarce. Be smart about the body parts you heal first.
When your body is entirely exhausted, any extra injury will be fatal.
Descend into the darkness and voyage through strange memories that aren't yours.
The vicious Meat Man will be hunting you. Use the environment to your advantage and hide in the darkness where he can't see you.
Mysterious white glowing doorways mark your escape. Reach them to be spared by the Meat Man.
You have no way of defending yourself. Your only choices are to run, hide, or die.
Features an original dark ambient soundtrack composed by The Nomad Communion.
Built with Unreal Engine 5.
Below Nowhere

Positives:
+ Unsettling and tense atmosphere + Very good sounds and music + Some variation in levels + Small puzzles + Ok voiceover + Divided into chapters + Achievements + Its short (over in 2 hours)
Negatives:
- Very low fov and no way to change it - Camera movements that cant be disabled (some might get nausea) - The low resolution pixelated graphics are not my cup of tea - The story was not as deep as I hoped - Slaughter mode is just doing the same game all over (except a few changes) and no saves - The meat man goes from a bit scary in the beginning to a bit annoying - A few bugs - Not as fun to play as I expected
Conclusion:
Below Nowhere is an okay short survival horror game with an atmospheric soundscape. It's got some resemblance to a few of David Szymanski's titles, which is usually a good sign. But unfortunately its nowhere near as good in storytelling or pure entertainment, like you get in Dylans other titles. So unless this game has something you like specifically, you'll get much more out of Chicken Feet or Blood Rifleman. I think this game could have been better if the pixelated graphics were dropped and the game was changed into a creepy walking simulator instead (without the survival elements).
Total Score: 5.5/10
Unfortunately the game is bugged within the first 10 min. Can't pick up the flashlight or key to progress the game.
