[h1] Below Nowhere [/h1] [h3] Positives: [/h3] + Unsettling and tense atmosphere + Very good sounds and music + Some variation in levels + Small puzzles + Ok voiceover + Divided into chapters + Achievements + Its short (over in 2 hours) [h3] Negatives: [/h3] - Very low fov and no way to change it - Camera movements that cant be disabled (some might get nausea) - The low resolution pixelated graphics are not my cup of tea - The story was not as deep as I hoped - Slaughter mode is just doing the same game all over (except a few changes) and no saves - The meat man goes from a bit scary in the beginning to a bit annoying - A few bugs - Not as fun to play as I expected [h3] Conclusion: [/h3] Below Nowhere is an okay short survival horror game with an atmospheric soundscape. It's got some resemblance to a few of David Szymanski's titles, which is usually a good sign. But unfortunately its nowhere near as good in storytelling or pure entertainment, like you get in Dylans other titles. So unless this game has something you like specifically, you'll get much more out of Chicken Feet or Blood Rifleman. I think this game could have been better if the pixelated graphics were dropped and the game was changed into a creepy walking simulator instead (without the survival elements). I'm writing this review pretty much a year later just to say that I'm really looking forward to play Blood Permafrost. Below Nowhere was such an amazing game. I've completed the game and I was really satisfied with the ending and the experience I had in my first playthrough. When Slaughter Mode came out, I won't lie it was frustrating, but I really thought it was worth getting the new ending. The ideas, the direction of where the story takes you, so much of what is in the game felt naturally perfect and blended so well. I'd do anything to be able to play Below Nowhere all over again. I had a great time playing it and enjoyed every second of it. To Dylan and to everyone involved in this project, you guys are very talented and have a lot more to prove. And with Blood Permafrost around the corner, I'm really excited in what the game has to offer.
