overall a good casual game. can recommend it.
Ever wonder how does it feel to have a dementia? This short but deeply meaningful game nailed it. Being empathetic with someone living with dementia means shifting your focus from factual accuracy to their emotional reality. Because dementia damages the parts of the brain responsible for logic and memory, a person may experience a world very different from yours. Empathy involves "entering their reality" to build trust and reduce their anxiety. If they say something factually incorrect, do not argue or correct them. Instead, acknowledge the underlying emotion. Look beyond confusing words to identify the intent or mood. If they ask to "go home" while already there, they may actually be expressing a need for security, comfort, or a sense of belonging. As verbal skills decline, body language becomes the primary way they understand you. Use a warm smile, maintain gentle eye contact, and offer a reassuring touch (like holding their hand) to convey safety and affection. Avoid overwhelming them with complex choices or multi-step instructions. Use short, simple sentences and ask "yes/no" questions (e.g., "Would you like tea?") rather than open-ended ones (e.g., "What do you want to drink?"). Agreeing with their emotion is more important than being "right", do not argue of the contradictions, just play along. Avoid "Don’t you remember?" as it can cause embarrassment or frustration. Pay attention to what triggers their distress or joy to adapt your approach. >Environmental & Behavioral Support Create a Calm Space: 1. Minimize background noise from TVs or radios, which can be overstimulating and cause confusion. 2. Include Them: Speak directly to them, even if they have trouble responding, to preserve their dignity and keep them feel valuable as a person. 3. Use Distraction and Redirection: If they become agitated, gently shift their focus to a soothing activity like listening to familiar music, looking at old photos, going for a walk. 4. Teach them to play simple video games of puzzles. There are plenty of fun puzzle games that will be enjoyable for them, it also keeps their brain cells active longer while sharpening it as well, in a good way. 5. Or, if they don't like video games at all, just let them take part in playing board games, card games or any other simple games to play for two players or even more. Just remember not to force it, check on the mood first before asking. Make them feel as they always belong in the family, no matter how big or small. 5. Lastly; whenever you got overwhelm or unable to do all of the above, then it's time you should seek professional / expert help to get involve and guide you all the way. But speak it with the whole family first before making this as a final decision to take.
"Before I Forget" is a story-rich, first-person exploration game from 3-Fold Game, it is moving, and atmospheric, it examines the emotional impact of dementia. You play as Sunita - a woman living with early onset dementia. As you wander from room to room, you discover mysterious objects, each holding a fleeting, fragmented memory. You examine faded postcards, scribbled notes, photographs, and more to uncover Sunita’s past, piece together her life-story, and understand her present. The Artstyle was amazing and i liked the music and sounds. The Voice was nice aswell. You also can get achievements for specific actions or passing story pints. It took me around 1.8 hours to finish the game. I paid 1,64€ for the game on Sale. It was fun so try it out!
song for sunita :')
This is a powerful piece for empathising for those with dementia.
História curta e emocionante
I would not recommend this game. Spoilers ahead, but my main gripe is with the ending, which strangely seems to romanticize suicide. I also find it a little sad that the story seems to frame the fact that the main narrator didn't want children in a weirdly negative light.
