The review is about the campaign only. Battlefield 4 offers a 7 mission campaign averaging around 1 hour per mission (dependings on wether you die a lot or not). The good

Gunplay is smooth
Level design for the mission is great with variety of sceneries and weapons/vehicles used
Performance is great and did not lag or stutter, with my specs I was able to play at 120 FPS and on ultra settings
The bad

AI teammate are useless and will not kill enemies
Enemy AI will lock on to you no matter what and will not focus on AI teammates
Many bugs and glitches, such as being unable to swap weapons from the ground, AI does not progress forward, character does not swim in water level having to alt tab in and out of the game to fix.
NPCs will push you out of the way when they bump into you, meaning AI teammates have a chance to push you out of cover if they happen to move in and out of cover next to you.
The story is pretty rushed and leaves out a lot of explanations about the point of the main villain and guy you are protecting.
Silent proteganist which feels very immersion breaking when it feels like all the characters are ignoring you unless they need you to open a door.
Campaign would have benefited greatly from adding more missions to better flesh out the story, characters and overall length of the campaign
The game overall is a 7/10 with the gunplay being the best thing. Try buying it when it is on sale.
Well, hard to believe this old geezer has so many full servers.
its a battle 4 fields
Campaign is peak
Yeah i know ppl play battlefield for the multi, but hey heres my honest campaign review.. Spoiler Alert !! Battlefield 4 is actually still a pretty good game in 2026. The graphics still hold up, and the story is decent. the characters are more memorable than Battlefield 3, They actually have personalities this time. The ending choice was also pretty cool. But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, some parts of this game are annoying. First, the bugs. There’s an underwater mission where I literally couldn’t swim. I thought I was doing something wrong, watched a YouTube tutorial, and nope, it was just a bug that somehow still exists. It completely ruined the experience for a while. Second, the enemy spawn is soo fckin baad. Sometimes you already cleared an area, moved forward, then suddenly enemies spawn behind you or at a weird angle and kill you instantly. It feels cheap. And the checkpoints? Also badd. Some of them are way too far apart, so dying means replaying a huge section again. Overall, good story, good graphics, decent campaign. Still worth playing, especially on sale, but some gameplay problems are really frustrating.
