Developer/Publisher: TheFitzyGames Released: March 6, 2019 THE BASICS OF THE GAME Bassline Sinker is a Shooter / Bullet Hell game that responds to your choice of music. You're a Stingray (I believe) and you do battle with various under sea creatures out to do you harm. It's a rhythm game, but you need not worry if you're not good at them. Choose the right music track, weapons and armor and that's it. If you're good at and enjoy good shooters, you'll have no problem with the play mechanics of this game. The response of your weapons to the music is quite good. No complaints. CONTROLS Keyboard. W, S, A, D, or use the arrow keys. I use the arrow keys. MUSIC 13 tracks are included, however you can add your own .mp3 or .wav music files. It's a breeze to add your own tracks. For copyright reasons I added a couple of music files from the YouTube Music Library. I simply downloaded them into MyMusic folder, copied and then pasted them into the "Basseline_Sinker_Music" folder and they were then a part of the game. Easy peasy. Click on Select Song and you will be given the option of using one of two music inventories. My Music and PreInstalled Music. Simply click on a track to hear what it sounds like. If you are happy with your selection click on Done, and you will be taken to the Main Menu. You needn't concern yourself with a track's length. It will play in a continuous loop. HIGH SCORES Each music track displays the highest score that you've achieved on it. ACHIEVEMENTS Level 10! Level 25! Level 50! Lord of the Depths (kill the 'Lord of the Depths' boss) Undeniable King (kill the 'Undeniable King' boss) Infinite Tangle (kill the 'Infinite Tangle' boss) Thank You! RESOLUTION 8 Settings Lowest setting is 1024 x 576. Highest is 3840 x 2160 QUALITY - 3 Settings Low, Medium, High. You can also set the display for either Fullscreen or Windowed. MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS OS: Windows 7 SP1+ Processor: SSE2 instruction set support Memory: 4 GB RAM Graphics: Graphics card with DX10 (shader model 4.0) capabilities DirectX: Version 10 Storage: 400 MB available space Additional Notes: These are Unity3D's minimum system requirements for built applications. RECOMMENDED Specs for the development PC OS: Windows 10 x64 Processor: i7 6700k Memory: 16 GB RAM Graphics: GTX 1070 DirectX: Version 11 Storage: 400 MB available space FINAL THOUGHT Normally I would consider the lack of controller support to be a negative, and while that would be nice I can play it just fine as is - and like it. Added to my Favorites.
Bassline Sinker is a hybrid "music" rhythm game and 2D side scrolling arcade shoot 'em up/bullet hell game. You choose a song from a selection included with the game (it's noteworthy the developer has properly credited the artists behind the songs and sound effects used) or choose one from your own library and then you get to play an arcade shmup, with the twist being that you don't control when you shoot, this is done to the rhythm of the song. Gameplay relies on positioning yourself so the right weapons from the right tones fire and hit the enemies at the right time. Whew, that's a lot of work for not much payoff. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features somewhat simplistic 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes this is a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones. The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the game only ever reached a peak player count of only 3 players. That's right, only 3. This is a pitiful enough number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is remarkable, but also to be expected. This complete and utter rejection of the game from gamers should be a keen information point for anyone considering buying shovelware like this. Gamers just didn't take this seriously, and for good reason. Bassline Sinker is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. Because this is the kind of game you can just play for free on mobile phones, and there's a better experience from better games like Beat Hazard, it's impossible to recommend this one.
It's a cute little game, I loved it! The graphics are nice and simple, and I really liked the engine used to detect the low-mid-high frequencies on the songs, it's pretty accurate. I'm not good at playing it, but it's a lot of fun and it's worth the money.
I can really feel the rhythm while playing this game. I keep getting killed by left-side eels.
Fun bullet hell style game with a twist! Love the fact that you can add your own mp3 files. Would recommend :)
I am bad at both rhythm games and bullet hell games, and yet I enjoy this. The developer's inclusion of being able to include your own music is a lot of fun, and its novelty is definitely worth the price.
I really enjoyed this one. No other procedural generated music game gives you the weapon accuracy of fire rate depending on the beat.
Just like Audiosurf, it's an incredibly addictive game due to being able to import your own music. The game is really challenging and has huge replayability even with when playing the same track due to the procedural generation of enemies. The bosses are really fun to fight against and the enemies all have their own unique abilities! Really fun and looking forward to playing more of this game!
