Publishers raising the price on an old game, huh? Shame.
I bought this game on Steam back in 2022 for $30 dollars. Checked it out later and now it's suddenly $40 dollars? What kind of shady ♥♥♥♥ is that? Amazing game that I played on the original Xbox with my dad back in the early 2000s. Made a ton of great memories playing this with him. But I can't recommend it if the devs are doing this though.
This is only a port of the game. It hasn't received any graphics upgrades or anything. The current price is not reflective of the value you get with the game.
The only downside of this game is the price. Other than that it is excellent. 40 is a bit much, 20 seems more fair but, whatever. Still a great game.
Dark Alliance II is quite good, actually, but it's absolutely scumbag-y that Interplay quietly rose the price of this and the original DA $10 USD before a sale, then kept the raised price. On an already finished game that's nothing more than a port of the original. That has also never gone on sale for less than $20 except on EGS over 2 years ago. Don't support scumbag practices like this. Interplay, do better.
1st, can't play it due to gamebreaking bugs making it so I can't access inventories 2nd, Scumbag publisher (Or whomever has this and the first game on steam) jacking up the price for the steam sale and leaving the price rised. Something that is ILLEGAL and is called Deceptive Pricing! Something that is ILLEGAL and violates antitrust statues in the US. REPORT this game and the Publisher.
I'm going to open this by saying that the current price is insane and you shouldn't get this game unless it goes on a good sale down to ~$20. Current price is obscene. This game is a blast. If you're a D&D fan who either grew up with or currently plays 3.5e, you get extra joy out of seeing staple monsters from that edition being turned into hack n slash enemies and their Monster Manual illustrations being referenced. Even if you're not, this game is a very fun computer hack n slash with a few rough edges sadly. Building a character up is a lot of fun, and there's lots of gear customization to boot. The game is a bit more open-ended, though I think the story suffers a bit since most of the middle 60% of the game is going to x place to get y thing without much story or character interaction. I'll also say that you can have a build that absolutely blows through all the enemies and bosses until the very end. The last three bosses are much more tanky with unfair fights that will make you hit a wall, ESPECIALLY the last one. I'll also add that attacks seem to just whiff these guys most of the time. Unless there's a game mechanic I just am unaware, it seems bugged. The game also isn't terribly suited for keyboard and mouse. Aiming is really janky at times, ranged weapons won't always go where you're aiming (sometimes the opposite direction) and movement is sometimes odd. I really don't prefer using a controller in any game, however with this one you probably should. Overall it's a great experience and I strongly recommend it on sale and especially for D&D players who were are familiar with 3.5e.
I still wonder why modern gaming with all the tech advantages hasn't touched on genres like this of online co-op simple rpgs you can play for a bit without the commitment of a MMO. This and Dark alliance I were some of my favorite games growing up well before the internet made everything for rpgs about metas and max/mining. A wonderful bygotten age where you picked what sounded cool.
Crashes constantly on my laptop.
nach 30h auch immer noch spaß am spiel aber naja nur halb so gut wie CHAMPIONS OF NORRATH egal welcher teil... PSX2 Emu beste leben♥
