It's an endless runner first. The ''Metroidvania Castles'' don't have true ability gating and consist of flipping switches in a large map.
Curator Review
Bad Run - Turbo Edition is an Endless Runner with some open castles to explore and test your skills. It won't change your mind if you're not into its Runner genre, but it does offer a unique Metroidvania twist if you are.
向日葵游戏评分【7分】
这是一款自动卷轴的平台跳跃游戏,并非商店介绍所说的Metroidvania(银河恶魔城)游戏。

I really like the speed of the gameplay. It is a cool runner game that has also metroidvania elements. I love Procedurally generated levels. This ensures levels that are never boring. The music: Amazing electric guitar tracks ! Graphics: Cool pixel art... the sprites look fresh and detailed ! Gameplay: Fast paced Price : The price is top..and you can get it as bundle with Bad Pad (that I enjoyed too). final comment: Nice casual game !
You want to play a randomly generated runner game? This one is the perfect fit. You gain abilities, based on how many levels you've beaten and how many coins you've collected, to be able to purchase better versions of your abilities. Like for example more hover time, a doublejump recharging more quickly, a jetpack or being able to shoot more bullets in the shooting sections. Progress feels great! And the 3 castles are HUGE. Was very fun to explore and play through those, but be sure to have all the necessary upgrades for it, otherwise you won't be able to complete them. You unlock abilities before you hit a dead end, usually these abilities allow you to clear the castles. Sometimes I'd say it is better to upgrade these abilities a bit first, as that will make the castles much easier. So play until you hit the gate, before you do the castles. That worked very well for me. The randomly generated levels, will have a lot of repeats after you played quite some time, but getting further and further in the game, unlocks more and more different sections that at some point can only be beaten by obtaining the mentioned upgrades. A jetpack for example. Without upgrades the jetpack is almost not there, but after a few points in it, it's your best friend in this game. It's definitely enough content to play for a long while and trying to 3 star everything, especially for the little pricetag that this game has. I had many suggestions and the developer put almost everything in the game, making it better and better. At first it felt kinda random at some points and you died because you couldn't see the next platforms etc. but now everything is only bound by your own skill. It's not always easy. It can be pretty difficult at times. Especially the castles, but thats a good thing! The game has bossfights in every castle and 4 of them in the automated running levels. They aren't much different from each other, but that isn't a problem for such a small game. They feel fair, you have enough time to react and generally are probably as good as you can make bosses in a runner game. 👍 Definitely a well deserved thumbs up for this game and the hardworking developer, who puts a lot of love into his games and trying to please his community :)
Just another great jump n run
very cool game, lots of fun
Bad Run - Turbo Edition is a colorful and highly energetic action-platformer developed by Headbang Games and Oray Studios and published by Headbang Games. Expanding upon the quirky universe established in Bad Pad, the game shifts its focus toward speed, reflexes, and exploration while maintaining the vibrant personality and humor that define the franchise. What initially appears to be a simple endless runner quickly evolves into a surprisingly layered experience that blends procedural level generation, platforming challenges, character progression, and metroidvania-inspired elements into a fast-paced adventure that constantly rewards persistence and skill. The game's premise embraces a playful and unconventional style that immediately establishes its identity. Players enter a bizarre and colorful world filled with strange environments, unusual characters, and unexpected dangers. Rather than relying on a traditional narrative structure, the game focuses on creating an entertaining journey driven by momentum and discovery. Every run feels like a new opportunity to explore, improve, and push further into the game's ever-changing environments. At its core, Bad Run - Turbo Edition revolves around movement. Running, jumping, dodging hazards, and maintaining momentum are essential to survival. The controls are responsive and designed to support fast decision-making, which is crucial because obstacles frequently appear with little warning. Success depends on mastering the flow of movement and reacting quickly to environmental challenges. The game rewards players who learn to maintain speed while adapting to constantly changing situations. One of the game's most appealing qualities is its procedural generation system. Rather than presenting identical layouts every time, levels are assembled in a way that creates fresh challenges during each run. This approach significantly increases replayability because players cannot simply memorize obstacle placement or enemy patterns. Every attempt introduces new opportunities and dangers, encouraging adaptability and keeping the experience engaging over extended periods. The platforming mechanics provide a satisfying balance between accessibility and challenge. Early sections introduce players to the core movement systems, while later areas demand greater precision and timing. Jumps become more demanding, hazards more threatening, and environmental puzzles more complex. This gradual difficulty curve helps players improve naturally while ensuring that later stages continue to feel rewarding. Unlike many endless runners that focus exclusively on survival, Bad Run - Turbo Edition incorporates exploration and progression systems that add depth to the experience. Hidden areas, unlockable content, and character improvements provide meaningful objectives beyond simply achieving a high score. These features create a stronger sense of long-term progression and encourage players to continue returning even after mastering the basics. The metroidvania-inspired elements contribute significantly to the game's identity. As players unlock new abilities and enhancements, previously inaccessible areas become reachable. This creates an enjoyable cycle of exploration and discovery where progression is tied not only to player skill but also to character development. Revisiting familiar locations with new abilities often reveals additional secrets and opportunities, making exploration feel worthwhile. Combat, while not the primary focus, adds variety to the gameplay. Enemies appear throughout the adventure and require players to balance offensive actions with movement and survival. Encounters are generally integrated into the platforming rather than treated as separate gameplay segments, helping maintain the game's fast pace and ensuring that momentum remains a central element of the experience. Boss battles represent some of the most memorable moments in the game. These encounters test everything players have learned, combining movement, timing, and pattern recognition into challenging set pieces. Bosses are designed to stand apart from regular obstacles, introducing unique mechanics that force players to adapt their strategies. Defeating them provides a strong sense of accomplishment and marks important milestones within the overall adventure. Visually, Bad Run - Turbo Edition excels at creating a distinctive atmosphere. The colorful art style, exaggerated character designs, and imaginative environments give the game a personality that immediately stands out. Every area feels lively and energetic, reflecting the fast-paced nature of the gameplay. The visual presentation successfully balances clarity with creativity, ensuring that players can easily identify threats without sacrificing artistic charm. The soundtrack is another major highlight. Music plays an important role in maintaining the game's momentum, delivering energetic tracks that complement the rapid pace of the action. The audio design enhances both the excitement of successful runs and the tension of difficult sections, helping create an immersive and memorable experience. Combined with the vibrant visuals, the soundtrack contributes significantly to the game's unique identity. One of the greatest strengths of Bad Run - Turbo Edition is its replay value. The combination of procedural generation, unlockable content, hidden secrets, and progression systems ensures that there is always something new to pursue. Even after completing major objectives, players can continue refining their skills, discovering additional content, and attempting to improve their performance. The game is not without challenges. Its emphasis on speed and quick reactions may occasionally frustrate players who prefer slower, more methodical platformers. Some sections demand precise execution and repeated attempts before success is achieved. However, these moments generally feel fair because failure is usually the result of player error rather than unpredictable design. Ultimately, Bad Run - Turbo Edition succeeds because it combines multiple genres into a cohesive and entertaining package. It takes the accessibility of endless runners, the challenge of precision platformers, and the progression systems of exploration-based adventures and merges them into an experience that remains consistently engaging. The result is a game that offers both immediate excitement and long-term depth. For players who enjoy fast-paced platforming, colorful worlds, rewarding progression systems, and high replayability, Bad Run - Turbo Edition delivers an enjoyable and energetic adventure. Its unique blend of speed, exploration, procedural design, and personality helps it stand out within a crowded genre and makes it a worthwhile experience for fans of action-platformers. Rating: 6/10
