About
Immerse yourself in Backspace Backspace Backspace, a narrative-driven game that explores the inner turmoil of a struggling writer in an age where AI has made the written word wholly automated.
Game Features:
Narrative-focused visual novella putting the player in the shoes of a tortured creative soul.
Homemade pixel art direction reminiscent of the GBA era.
Full soundtrack of chiptune-style music.
Meaningful choices.
Dialogue available in nine languages (so far!): English, Arabic, Turkish, French, Chinese (traditional & simplified), Korean, Russian, Vietnamese, and Japanese! Get in touch if you can help localize the game in other languages.
Two endings. Try to get both!
We made this game in one week. Debugging and further touch-ups took two months. We never created pixel art or original music before, but we used this project as an opportunity to push ourselves outside our comfort zone and grow more independent as a team of two. Above all else, Backspace Backspace Backspace is our love letter to every creative soul out there. Keep making!
Because we appreciate transparency, and to help you save your money, here's what this game is not:
A "long" game. We made this game with compactness in mind. Expect no more than 20 minutes of gameplay.
A flawless game. Backspace Backspace Backspace is a small project made in a limited time frame, with limited experience, and virtually no resources, with the intent of learning how to make a game from scratch. Naturally, it will have technical issues. We are still working on them, but we don't want this game to hold us back from focusing on our next project. If you encounter a bug, please let us know.
We have many more games lined up in the near future. If you already purchased Backspace Backspace Backspace and would like to support us further, we would be immensely grateful to you. Leave us a review, tell your friends about this game, or purchase the Backspace Backspace Backspace soundtrack (which is also available on YouTube for free).

A digital choose your own adventure, retro esque aesthetics, millennial anxiety Gothic short story. It is like reading goosebumps as a kid.
Quick, clever game about the struggles of being creative in the era of AI. I recorded myself playing it and sharing my thoughts for the devs because it can be really nice to see someone connect with your work! Link here if you're interested: https://youtu.be/UcyoHlXSMrg?si=ylY69gXeAdUBYPkD
Highly recommended. Short, but has a lot of impact. Just some thoughts, but spoilers involved:
While it's about a writer struggling, it resonated with me around my own struggles with my queer identity. I guess it's because of the constant second guessing yourself and isolation in both situations. Wonderful game and impressive that it was made in one week, well done! Incidentally, and I hope the dev doesn't mind recommending other indie games - I think anyone that liked this would also enjoy Milk Inside a Bag of Milk Inside a Bag of Milk and You Will (Not) Remain
A very short, at times very dark, but ultimately (if you look hard enough) surprisingly hopeful take at the woes of creation. I entered it thinking I already knew from the start how it would end - and unsurprisingly, it unfolded that exact way. But then I insisted, replayed it, made different choices and found myself thinking about my own creative process in ways I never did before. This is very precious! Thanks for making this game! Although it obviously "is not for everyone", it wil be very much for the people that will find something in what it says. Yes, that last sentence was very convoluted. Writing just isn't for everyone I guess.
put faith in your creativity
一款小游戏,很简单,很好理解,不无聊,因为半小时不到就能通关,就几块钱,能有什么问题呢
if you’re a creator you should play this. if you’re a creator that’s ever struggled you should play this. you should play this.
Relating a little too much to ____ right now... Ahaha! It's a bit strange (but also cathartic) seeing these familiar trains of thought finally expressed in text. Reading along, following these self-destructive/self-defeating/self-fatiguing thoughts to their different ends, helped me as well in a vicarious way. At the least, I've got a bit more hope I can move on from this consumptive funk and actually make something too. So, thank you!
jogo curtinho mas bem bom sobre o quão desgastante pode ser tentar fazer algo próprio na era onde querem fazer tudo em IA, gostei das músicas também, vale a pena jogar
A very short VN about the existential dread writers feel in the current age of AI slop. I can relate, despite not being a "true" writer myself. Worth a buck to experience, and I'm interested to see what Blue Tango Street comes out with next!
