"Auro: A Monster-Bumping Adventure" is a poorly made mobile app that was dumped on Steam, presumably because Google and Apple took out restraining orders or something. The mobile app stores have quality control where Valve doesn't, of course, which explains how all this mobile garbage ends up here. What do you do in the game? Well it's a crappy minimum viable product turn based hex map strategy-lite, with no content because the developer thinks procgen algoriths are an acceptable substitute. They are not. The graphics aren't great... that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and lazily tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless levels, because that's a lot less work. As a result of this poor decision, the game gets tired and repetitive almost immediately. Developers must learn that procgen is a terrible substitute for creating real content. It should not be used as "ez-mode" for content creation, as the developer tried to do here. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $9 USD for this... talk about delusions of grandeur. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 9 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.

such a nice suprise! looks simple and kinda shallow, looking at screens. also, no full screen (dev should rewrite it from scratch) still, found an enjoyable strategic puzzle kindly asking to be played. done that. i'll do it again. clever devs made me wishlist their new one on the fly!
This game was always a fantastic tactics game. But the recent updates have a whole host of improvements that make it even more fun to play. Time to climb the ranks!
I really wanted to like this game. Apparently this game inspired the development of some of my favourite turn-based tactics games from BrainGoodGames. So how could I not like it? Unfortunately, I don't enjoy it. played it for about an hour years ago and didn't like it. Recently I saw it was updated, which impressed me. So I decided to give Auro another try. It took me all of five minutes to remember why I dislike this game. The interface is user hostile, making it unpleasant to play. There is not tutorial and the help screen is useless. In order to find out anything in the game, you have to click on a help icon to go into help mode, then click on what you want information on. Tooltips - nope. When I loose at Auro, it is just as likely because I forgot what an enemy of a certain colour does or does not do. So much potential for this game, with a better interface it would probably be quite fun.
Auro is a really great little strategy game. It's missing a lot of niceties we've come to expect from PC games, but please don't let that turn you off. Auro aims to be a timeless strategy game classic like chess by focusing on a strong core mechanic. The result is a game that is fairly easy to learn the basics of, but which presents emergent complexity through combinations of simple behaviors. I really recommend that if you try it, try to reach rank 4 or so before making up your mind. It'll burrow into the back of your mind and roost there. :-)

With the recent upgrade to Unity and a small re-balance I can now recommend this tricksy quick puzzler without reservations. Besides your direct abilities you have to use special terrain and monsters' own attacks/properties to build point combos -- not much of a description but it's all the game needs to be fun in short bursts (or even "one more tries").
Auro, canavarları suya çarpmaya yönelik benzersiz bir sıra tabanlı taktiksel zindan gezinme oyunudur. Rakip Krallıklara karşı yarışırken ve sıralamalarda yükselirken rastgele oluşturulmuş haritaları geçin ve devasa büyü kombinasyonları oluşturun.
It used to be an excellent game held back by technical problems. With the recent unity port, now it's just an excellent singleplayer tactics game! Highlights include: - The excellent single player ELO/ladder system, meaning that as you improve the game will get more challenging and stay interesting! This is an great example of a strategy game meant to be evergreen! - Simple rules and goals, but emergent complexity: you will keep learning new interactions between spells and enemy behaviours, lots of room for being smart and creative! - Short and lean gameplay sessions, no grind, no superfluous gameplay element. In the short amount of time you need to complete a single session, you are posed interesting tactical challenges and to solve them the game demands your full focus (especially when the game finds your ELO, no worries though: you don't need to play through the initial levels if they are easy, you can always take a "placement test" to find the right ELO for you!). Once the session is done, you leave the game with the satisfaction of a meaningful and complete strategic experience, unlike many games that require hours upon hours of time investment for rare returns.
