I quit this game for about 4 months but i just updated this negative to a positive, I still fully remember the game though. I disliked it because of how annoying I found the catgirl so annoying I quit the game, I gave it another shot though because I remembered the game was amazing but I hated the catgirl and I found a clown guy who gave me gilroy :D GILROY GILROY GILROY I love gilroy which I also remembered over 4 months
One of the worst games i ve ever played. If you are bored and want to kill time eat a poisinous mushroom, you ll have more fun.
It's hard to overstate how much this borrows from Undertale, seemingly without always knowing what made those things work in the first place. But it does also add some of its own ideas and personality, and the art and music are very good. Probably too OTT for some, but I had a decent time with it.
A bit on the fence. Some will and have compare this to Undertale and, granted, I have only played a couple hours, but I can't imagine that's quite accurate - someone said Undertale on Adderall, I'd maybe say Undertale on Ambien, plus some very, uh, low brow humor. If you want constant fart and burp noises then this may be the game for you. I'm not sure that it'll really stick for me but some bits have been amusing enough and there's no telling where it could go - it's probably worth checking out the demo because the humor feels pretty similar. It gives me a bit of a "SO RANDOM" humor vibe, but there's enough variety and stuff going on that I'll at least play a good ways further and see what happens. I don't know if it's really "for me" but I think if the dialogue and humor strike the right tone it could really be up someone's alley. I think what bugs me most is the combat.. it's unquestionably Undertale but doesn't seem to know *why* it chose that. The actions hardly make any sense, the characters don't really react or change actions based on them besides occasionally some quirky mini-games or "quizzes" that are just as random and nonsensical, and many enemies seem to really only have one rather basic attack which doesn't in any way play off their character theme/tropes/dialogue/anything. Really waffling on whether I want to slog through it but I can't say I've gotten more than a chuckle or two out of it in a few hours of play (my playtime is inflated already because of some wacky optional thing where you 'download' a thing in your options menu and get an achievement but it takes literally 3-4 hours during which you can't play and just leave the game running and apparently can fail and such, which is just.. yeah. I dunno, I guess that's funny somehow?) I can work with surreal or absurd humor but this really is a bit too laden with fart jokes to come across as even surreal and not just kinda.. random for random's sake. But I'm also a huge not-fan of Tim & Eric type humor, so maybe it just isn't for me.
Athenian Rhapsody is the kind of role-playing game that seems determined to ignore expectations from the moment it begins. Rather than presenting a traditional fantasy journey built around serious heroes and predictable adventures, it throws players into a world filled with strange personalities, bizarre situations, and a constant stream of humor that often feels delightfully unpredictable. The game does not appear interested in behaving like a conventional RPG. Instead, it embraces chaos, oddity, and individuality so completely that the experience gradually develops a personality entirely its own. One of the game's most interesting ideas is its focus on creating a personal story rather than simply leading players through a fixed adventure. Instead of treating a playthrough as something that begins and ends with a standard conclusion, the game introduces the concept of a "Rhapsody," which acts as a record of choices, friendships, and experiences gathered throughout the journey. This gives progression a more personal feeling because players are not simply moving toward an ending; they are building a version of the adventure shaped by their own decisions. It creates the impression that every playthrough becomes a unique collection of memories rather than another completed save file. The world itself is one of the strongest reasons to continue exploring. There is a constant feeling that absolutely anything could happen next. One moment may involve a relatively normal interaction, while the next could suddenly become something absurd and completely unexpected. Strange characters appear regularly, unusual conversations take place without warning, and many situations seem designed specifically to surprise players. The game maintains an energetic pace where curiosity becomes a major source of motivation because players are rarely certain what waits around the next corner. This unpredictability also extends into the game's encounters and combat systems. Battles combine turn-based elements with real-time mechanics, preventing fights from becoming repetitive menu-driven exchanges. Encounters frequently introduce unusual interactions and small gameplay variations that keep things feeling active. Rather than repeatedly selecting attacks and watching animations play out, players are encouraged to remain engaged throughout battles. This creates a stronger sense of involvement and gives encounters more personality. Another enjoyable aspect of the game is the ability to approach enemies differently. Not every encounter needs to end through violence. Players can interact with opponents in unusual ways and potentially build friendships instead of simply defeating them. This system adds another layer to the experience because characters stop feeling like ordinary enemies existing solely to provide rewards. Relationships and interactions become meaningful parts of progression, supporting the game's larger emphasis on personality and connection. Companions also play an important role throughout the journey. The cast appears filled with unusual individuals who contribute heavily to the game's identity. Instead of functioning only as additional combat support, party members seem designed to become memorable parts of the experience. Their personalities and interactions help strengthen the feeling that the game is less about saving the world and more about sharing an unpredictable adventure with strange and entertaining characters. Visually, Athenian Rhapsody adopts a colorful pixel-art style that feels heavily inspired by classic handheld RPGs. The presentation carries a nostalgic quality while still allowing room for expressive animations and unusual designs. The visuals complement the overall tone effectively because they support both the humor and absurdity found throughout the game. Combined with energetic music and lively environments, the presentation helps create a world that constantly feels active and full of personality. Of course, the game's unusual style may not appeal equally to everyone. Much of its humor moves quickly and often leans into randomness and exaggerated situations. Players who enjoy surreal comedy and unpredictable storytelling will likely appreciate this approach, while others may occasionally find the pacing overwhelming. The same creativity that gives the game its identity can sometimes make it feel as though multiple ideas are competing for attention at once. Even with that possibility, Athenian Rhapsody succeeds because it possesses something many games struggle to achieve: individuality. It feels unapologetically committed to its own strange ideas and never seems interested in becoming more conventional simply for comfort. Every part of the experience appears designed around personality, creativity, and unpredictability. For players who enjoy unusual RPG adventures filled with humor, strange characters, and experiences that constantly surprise them, Athenian Rhapsody delivers a journey that feels genuinely memorable. It may not follow familiar rules, but its willingness to embrace its own identity is exactly what makes it stand out. Rating: 8/10
I LOVE Y0U
