About
Athena Crisis is a modern retro turn-based strategy game that presents multiple gripping single-player campaigns alongside sync and async online multiplayer, as well as a full map and campaign editor, leaderboards, player skills and unit powers. Fans of Advance Wars or Fire Emblem will feel right at home in Athena Crisis!
Victory in Athena Crisis can be obtained in multiple ways: defeat all enemy units to clear a map, take over your opponent’s structures and bases, escort units to an escape zone, or simply survive for a period of time against overwhelming odds. Outwit, outbuild, and outfight your opponents to become the best Athena Crisis player.
Command 40+ infantry, ground, naval, air and special units in turn-based battles. Seamlessly convert single-player games into multiplayer by activating Power Crystals that allow friends to join for coop. But beware: Activating crystals might mean other players will invade and battle you!
Beware the fog! Proceeding too far behind enemy lines may leave your units exposed to attacks from unexpected directions, or even at risk of…dinosaur munches? Strategic thinking will be required to take advantage of terrain and lines of sight.
Customize your gameplay experience with unique unlockable skills and powers: Unlock new units, apply status effects or completely change how some unit mechanics work. And when you need to gain the upper hand, activate powers to unleash devastating counter attacks.
A lighthearted, humorous story full of memorable characters will keep you playing long past when you planned to put your Steam Deck down. Just…one…more…map… And when you run out of official content, there are hours of community created campaigns and maps to play through!
A full map and campaign editor is included, allowing you to customize your own campaigns with your own dialogue or make challenging encounters for your friends to overcome. You can make single maps to play with friends and other community members, or create complete campaigns with entirely new dialogue and stories.
Athena Crisis takes the phrase “multi-platform” to a whole new level: you can start a game on PC or Mac and seamlessly continue it on iPhone, Android, or Steam Deck, whether you’re playing the lengthy single-player campaign or an online skirmish with your friends.

solid game, if you like advance wars style game play.
Finally a good Wars Game :D
gut
Spent 45 minutes trying to figure out how to get it past an initial logon "email and password" screen on my SteamDeck. Eventually tried putting the deck into online mode and finally got the actual main menu to show up. Not a good introduction experience.
why shoud i buy this game another time after the last update???
Very fun advance wars inspired game with addicting gameplay, but I have a few issues with it. First off the soundtrack in game (except the main menu theme which i feel is very boring and uninspired) is great but there's only a few songs per biome, the main menu really sucks there's like 10 trillion buttons and i think they should have just had a few more sub menus to not make the main one so cluttered. I don't really like how the factions don't really have much personality unlike advance wars where each faction was very distinct. This is mostly because this game also doesn't have any unique commanders like advance wars does, instead each unit has a unique leader with their own personality but you only ever see that personality in dialog that plays before and after campaign missions. Idk man the leaders are kinda cool but I definitely prefer commanders, but at least they tried something new. also the zombie unit in fog of war makes me want to die that ♥♥♥♥ is genuinely the most annoying unit in the game especially on maps that have no air, or no naval units. anyway the core gameplay is really good its just the things that surround it are kind of flawed.
Fun little Advance Wars clone.
I enjoyed this game

I like the complex and sometimes brutal roguelike feel of the phantom crystal enemy invader (or otherwise losing) side of the multiplayer invasion system. Sometimes you get a doomed run from the start of your invasion that lets you experiment with your army or try to hold on till more invaders act as reinforcements/truce allies.
