The game is not bad, it has pros and cons. The story is not bad, there are some texts that are rushed, but very rarely. The gameplay isn't bad, but it needs a little balance and the heroine needs to be faster. The upgrade system isn't bad, but it could have at least had a map to find hidden girls or something to search for. The animations are pretty good. CG on the other hand, are becoming increasingly poor quality and quite simple and uninteresting, a lot of wasted potential and there could have been a lot more. The game could have had a cloud save. The biggest minus is the mouse. Battles and menus are controlled by keyboard only, the mouse is only for the scenes. But to get to them, you still need a keyboard. Mouse control is terribly limited. Best with a discount, the game still needs some repair. It's a shame the creator's first game isn't there.

Atelier Tia is a surprisingly good beat em up with rpg-lite elements. Tia can collect ingredients to make helpful potions,items to use in battle,and gear that can be equipped. You should keep that in mind because periodically visiting her safe haven is where you can do all this and upgrade her stats. If the game suddenly gets "Too hard" it just means you've neglected the "rpg" part of that equation. Learn,upgrade,craft,rinse,and repeat! There's a surprisingly good combo system complimented by an assortment of graceful reactions allowing Tia to block devastating blows,gracefully evade mobs with well timed acrobatics,jump to more advantageous high-ground,and "magic blast" her opponents into submission. Enemies are perpetually slowed down Prince-Of-Persia-Style as they fall to the ground so aerial juggles become increasingly easy to pull off. We also finally have another beat em up where the stages are not just flat and linear. Platforming and verticality will periodically remind you classics akin to Double-Dragon had a lot of care put into their level design which is repeated here. Nothing is more satisfying than strategically knocking enemies off ledges to their doom! As much as I enjoyed Streets Of Rage 2 and Final Fight 1-3 they did skimp out on creating more elaborate interactive locals. You scaled from left to right with only the occasional elevator breaking up that monotony. To have more freedom of movement again in a 2D brawler is very refreshing! Okay,you know and I know why we are here and yes,Atelier Tia delivers. The erotic sprite-work is gorgeous and there are even "punishment sequences" for when you defeat bosses. The way you collect additional essence from lower ranking female goons is quite interesting to say the least! As you would expect if Tia does not get up quick enough she will be shown her place as well! Whilst you gallivant around the world map completing missions these animations and cut-scenes will be added to a gallery to be enjoyed at your leisure. There's not much to complain about beyond some outdated retro design decisions,frame-rate flickering and hit-boxes that can occasionally be just a tad off kilter. Overall you get a tongue in cheek self aware eroge rpg brawler set within a lusty fantasy world where everyone is always horny! Assuming that's what you are here for you will not be left thirsty! Pros +Gorgeous sprite-work. +Plenty of illicit kinky shenanigans! +Funny meme-worthy dialogue! +Pretty robust bestiary/rogue's gallery (Lotsa monster-girls. Oh yeah!) +Boss fights are challenging but doable if you simply pay attention and utilize Tia's versatile skill-set. +Use alchemy to make potions,craft a variety of deadly concoctions,and forge better equip-able gear. + Funny coomer-critter Pikachu looking sidekick! +Environments are not strictly linear. +Some awesome riffs! Certain boss themes sound as if they came straight outta Guilty-Gear or Ys! +You can load up each mission on any difficulty you choose. +Liked the relationship dynamic between Tia and Mimi. Not even big into yuri and yet I appreciated the sweet wholesomeness in that particular romance! Neutral +/- +/- Compared to other beat em ups Atelier Tia feels more "floaty". This is a boon in some situations and a hindrance in others. +/- The game is rich in diversity when it comes to sexual fetishes but as a result of that you may run into certain ones that will not tickle your pickle. For example,there are a few futa and yuri scenes which don't do much for me personally. However,the "domination" "bondage" "oral stimulation" and "male monster on female booteh blastin" made up for that. Obviously if your kinks are more broad in scope than mine are you'll end up pleasantly satisfied! Cons -Frame-rate flicker and the occasional inaccurate enemy hit-boxes -Game glitched when I returned to a previous area and the giant slime boss absorbed me. It didn't trigger the normal stuggle event so I had to back out and return to home-base. At least the whole game did not lock up on me though. -Level caps periodically slow your progress. It's nice the caps rise over time but c'mon,let me grind and be as powerful as I want to be! -Is it just me or do a lot of the bosses seem more interesting and appealing than the main character? -Certain areas are just big enough a mini map would have helped. Oh well,back to drawing out the lay of the land just like when I played Battle Of Olympus as well as Wizards & Warriors! -Not sure how I feel about the grapple/submission system. QTEs requiring me to rapidly hit back and forth or mash the attack button into a smoldering melted piece of plastic do not illicit quite the same nostalgic warm fuzzies in current year! Overall As erotic H-games go this one certainly has its' flaws but it is still a work of dedication and passion. The sheer amount of monster-girls and unlockable smut is worth it if you are an aspiring artist whom needs inspiration for when you draw some naughty rule 34. On top of that the game-play is peak with only a minuscule amount of hiccups along the way. Likewise be merry in the knowledge you put some money towards a lovingly crafted middle finger aimed at the current despotic,greedy,over-priced,ugly,and anti-fun AAA gaming establishment! im actually bored with the game, I mean it is what it is a porn game with action. the only problem is one of the selling points is the punishment part you really can't do. Also there is the glitch with the Volcano boss that can cause the boss to ragdoll off the screen and you have to restart the fight again. while the artwork is good, there really isn't much to write home about. Catch it on sale if you want to play it and remember to get the patch to see the majority of scenes. Anyway, that is my two cents
