My first foray into Atelier series and it really is super mixed results even though this has been said to be very noob friendly entry. This games pacing was all over the place, the start is very slow introduction and slice of life stuff and it literally feels that nothing is happening mostly and near the end the game picks up rapidly and in post game turns into real hard JRPG game where you actually need to think about everything you do with some almost impossible feeling battles. I actually grew to somewhat like the alchemy minigame even if it felt like it was too tiresome and played too big of a part in the game with quality looping and such in the end. Most of the characters in the game were interesting but the games tone was little bit too juvenile sometimes but maybe that is the charm of Atelier games? Overall I don't regret playing this but I just wished the experience was more balanced. 5/10. I think the DX version of the game brings some QoL updates so I would recommend playing that over this. (they do be grilling Oskar in this game) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2955522032 Follow my Steam Curator for more: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/43514354/

The game is fun, enjoyable with some lovable casts. although looking back the publisher greed has gotten much worse compare to when this was availble to be bought
A fun, interesting take on the Atelier series. Atelier Sophie takes all the stress of deadlines and the pressure of world saving (at least until the very end) and throws it out the window for just vibes, and it works wonderfully. Synthesis is a refreshing, puzzle like change of pace, in which you are challenged with fitting the pieces of your item into the caudlron without letting them overlap each other. Combat is fine enough, and the idea of preparing out an entire turn in advance instead of one time segment at a time is refreshing and fun, and offensive and defensive styles work well with the games pace as well. The story isn't the main focus, the characters are. And the characters are all very well written, with interesting, unique motivations, and complex problems for them to solve. My personal favorites are Harol and Sophie. Overall, a game in which the remastered edition is worth picking up, as you can't buy the base version digitally anymore.
As someone who has played all the previous Atelier games, this is a new fresh take in my opinion! The synthesis system is more of a simple puzzle. The segment turn based combat is fun. The characters are really fleshed out with well written personalities and it fixes my gripe with the earlier games as it feels more relaxed as there isn't as much time pressure for deadlines. Definitely get the DX version!
i buttoned through all the dialogue because it was boring as heck but putting things in the pot to make better things was fun
