First impression: CUTE and i will play more soon! Another first impression is, yes, i am a inverted player (boo me if you want haha). Having no way to change the controls to an inverted camera bugs me more than it should and makes for a not so smooth experience. I will try for now to deal with it and play the game more, it will probably take me a while to get used to it, but i will try ;) If you are planning to bring out a new update soon, please consider bringing a possibility to change the controls into the options :) (and perhaps a possible option for V-sync :D ) really curious how the finished product will look and play!
Recommended to me by someone i know, i enjoyed the 1 hour experience of the Beta, will play the full game when it releases! Just one thing, i hope there will be more resolution options? For me this will be 1920x1080p. This isn't really a problem, but something i hope will be brought into the full release of the game.
Ascent: Crash Landing is a beautiful slice of 90s nostalgia. From the vibrant level designs to challenging but rewarding gameplay, this game is great value for money. If you want to bring back those wonderful memories of playing old school platformer games, this is for you!
Максимально неинтуитивное управление как в самой игре, так и меню.
I really enjoyed playing this game. The levels were beautiful, especially the newest addition Lunar Islands. I found each level was different, which kept me interested throughout. I especially enjoyed the side challenges, which extended the gameplay. I think it's a fun and accessible game for all ages, and a great throwback to old 3D platformers. Considering this was built by a solo developer, I was really impressed with the size of the game and the amount of work that has gone into it. 8/10, would definitely recommend. Great value for money!
A quick, chill experience. If you're looking for a lengthy and challenging platformer, this isn't for you, but this game does offer a few hours worth of fun exploration, smooth music, and pleasing visuals. This is something you can really sit down and relax with. It's almost like asmr for 3D platformers. I'm always seeing this game on sale, and recommend picking it up. I ended up enjoying this whole experience way more than I thought I would. I think you will too.
This game is short. Super short. I've gotten 100% and all achievements in less than 2 hours, and I wasn't even trying to speed run. That said, for the price, it's a decently fun game! Hopefully the team can take this and go further with it.
Pros: Vibrant level design & Rewarding combat Cons: Vibrant level design & Rewarding combat I felt nothing!
EDIT - After much thought, I have decided to return My Review to a Positive Review. I apologise to the Developer as I do realise He Is a Solo Developer and making a Game Is hard. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A solid attempt at recreating the style of the 3D Platformers from the 90s to very early 2000s. Nearly at 100% of the Achievements. Edit - As of 1st of October 2019, I have 100% of the Achievements. Visuals - 4/5 ---------- A very colourful Game with vibrance and an Interesting art direction. Some levels look great such as the Hub and Island level but some can be a bit too dreary such as the Snowy level. Overall, I am looking forward to seeing how the other levels will look. Some Objects such as switches don't really stand out that much and could leave Someone a bit confused on What to do next. I also hope the Enemies will get more variaty too as, So far, There are only 2 Models for Them. Controls - 3/5 ----------- The Character, Bluu, controls decently. Jumping can feel a bit stiff and moving while In the air Is a bit floaty. I hope this gets fine tuned as movement and control Is VERY Important In a 3D Platformer, Requiring precision and accuracy when making leaps. There have been a few Instances where I attempted to jump over a gap, Only to fall down to a lower level or even My death. I have had a few moments Where Bluu refuses to jump while I am running too. Combat Is a bit clunky too. Tailswiping can be a big hit or miss and all the Player really has to do Is employ a hit and run technique to defeat Enemies. Looking forward to seeing a more varied Movement Set In the future. Glider controls are slightly stiff but passable. It only occurs In a Mini-Game, So far, so It might be a bit too early to judge. I also hope Swimming gets tuned up a bit too as It Is rather drastically slow compared to the rest of the Game, To the point Where It becomes a chore. If the Game ends up having a Water level later on where Swimming Is a must then This could really use a bit of speeding up. Co-Op controls don't see to work? I've tried all buttons but nothing seems to move the Second Character. Sound - 4/5 --------- Enemies do tend to make the same sound a lot and the death sound does kind of remind Me of the Elites from Halo, Ha ha. The Soundtrack Is easy going. I really enjoyed the Hub World and Desert Island Tracks. Very laid back! The Desert Island Track gives Me a very big "Halo" vibe once the Drums kick In and I am loving It! Really suits the exotic nature of the Island. The very adventurous Battle Music can be a bit jarring after Instantly playing after the more laid back Ambient Music. They are good Musical pieces, Though. They do capture the mood and setting, I just think they could use a bit more blending In... But that could just be Me nitpicking. Overall, A fantastic job with This. I am looking forward to hearing more Music In This Game. Gameplay - 4/5 ------------- So far, There Is only one way to combat Enemies and the Level selection Is small. Of course, This will be expanded upon as the Game progresses In development. Collecting the Orbs Is easy enough and There are a few well hidden Secret Areas. There Isn't much Platforming In some of the Levels other than getting over some pits or going up a level and even when There are, The only danger Is missing a Platform due to the Issue with the Controls as I stated above. Co-Op - 3/5 --------- So far, I couldn't find a way to move the Second Character. Perhaps adding the Controls to the Control Screen would help. I do appreciate There being Co-Op In the first place... I just wish I knew how to actually get It working. Edit - After I was able to Play through Co-Op with a Second Controller, The overall System did Work really well. However, Being Limited to a Single Map and not being able to Do much with It does leave much to be Desired. Perhaps Adding Challenge Maps or far more Complex Puzzles? That could go a really long Way! Overall - 18/25 ---------- This Is a very fine attempt at making a 3D Platformer. It has artistic charm and definitely has potential to be Something good. Especially, As far as I am aware, It Is being developed by One Person. That Is an achievement In Itself. I would definitely recommend This Game to 3D Platforming Fans, Such as Myself, But for the more Hardcore or Relaxed Gamers, They may want to wait until more Content Is added. It IS worth the current Price, Though. Whether This Price will rise or not remains to be seen. While I do question Why the Game wasn't put Into Early Access due to low amount of Content and as It Is still being developed, I can understand the Developer's Intentions. Whether Anyone else will, However, Is another question. And I really hope There will be a way to know the Controls for the Second Character In Co-Op. Overall, I have been enjoying This Game and I really do wish the Developer the best of luck with This. Seeing more 3D Platformers appear Is a great Thing for a Gamer like Me. :) I do hope to Include Bluu In a Picture I am planning on drawing featuring All 3D Platforming Mascots from Crash to Lucky to Sonic etc.
Это небольшая игра-головоломка с приятной музыкой и графикой. Вам предстоит отправиться на различные острова, собирая синий сферы для прогресса. Эта игра поистине успокаивает, но проходится чуть больше чем за час) К покупке советую, 10/10.
