AA is game where you use gadgets, press some buttons and move around in interesting ways to solve between 180 and 200 puzzles. The style and graphics are functional but very clear to make you understand what’s expected of you. The music doesn’t get in the way, it’s fine. There are no collectibles to find, it’s all about solving puzzles in rooms of various sizes. The gameplay is the star of the show. Some of the puzzles are just fantastic, there is always something new to keep the gameplay interesting. Sometimes it’s new gadgets or puzzles that force you to use your gadgets differently. The challenge is close to perfection, I’m engaged most of the time. It feels challenging but fair. I often want to invest the time to clear the puzzles before giving up. I’ve had to look up about 5-10 puzzles and even with them they were mostly fair. The achievements are just the way they should be, almost all of them involve completing all the puzzles. And that’s more than enough considering there are around 200 of them. There is one miscellaneous achievement that can easily be gotten with a handy guide on Steam. I do sometimes dislike having to retry certain puzzle sections after dying and that’s even with checkpoints. Some puzzles need more checkpoints basically. Other than that, the game doesn’t have other real flaws. It might take some time to get used to the controls. The game is also the kind that’s not really exciting to get into. By that, I mean how it’s a game I stop playing for a period of time and then remember to continue again after looking through my list. It doesn’t have a plot, cute style or anything to hook you into playing it consistently. The gameplay is very strong however, it never disappoints when it comes to that. So I always returned to it and I DID eventually get hooked. AA is a very solid game. It delivers on where it matters and you get a lot of content for even the normal price of €5. It took me over 30 hours to 100% the game. This is THE game to get if you’re looking for the next puzzle game with a decent but fair challenge. The game is worth getting regardless of whether it’s on sale or not.
