About
Arachnoid is an intense survival horror game where moving into an abandoned home turns into a nightmare. Clean the house by picking up trash, move boxes inside to unpack, and drive your car to complete various tasks. At first, it's just an old house with a few creaks and shadows. But as the days pass, you realize you're not alone - something is watching, crawling, waiting. The house is infested with giant, intelligent spiders, and they are not in a hurry to reveal themselves. Run from the giant spiders, until you find a way to fight them. Finding a shotgun, you are able to find and carry ammo to fight against these monsters.
Uncover the dark mystery behind the infestation while solving puzzles and completing quests to survive. But as the horror escalates, so does the fight. After finding a shotgun with limited ammo, you'll have to decide when to run, when to hide, and when to face the nightmare head-on. The spiders aren't just lurking in the corners - they scale wall crawl across ceilings, and hunt in groups.
With a slow-burning atmosphere that builds into heart-pounding terror, Arachnoid will test your nerves. Will you make it through, or will the spiders claim their next victim?

AVOID THIS! I got sucked in with the spiders on the screenshots.. trust me this is BAD! From clunky controls, to the car being slower than my grandma, the entire game is literally go from one building to another in this liminal space, but imagine the buildings are 500 miles away from each other and you have to do it multiple times.. and you have to use the car from point to point. It was like a really bad house flipping game with some of the tasks you had to do.. The game got bugged 2 hours in as well, I couldnt find these keys my character kept going on about, I assumed it broke as I could now walk through the car and my tasks (tab button) wasnt working anymore.
Arachnoid, developed and published by Horrid Vision LLC, is a first-person survival horror experience that builds its premise around a simple but effective fear: being trapped in a confined space with something crawling just out of sight. It begins with a grounded, almost mundane setup, placing you in a quiet home environment where your initial tasks involve ordinary activities like tidying up and exploring the surroundings. This deliberate normalcy serves as the foundation for the game’s tension, allowing it to slowly introduce unease before revealing the true threat lurking beneath the surface. The early portion of the game is its strongest, relying on subtle environmental storytelling and audio cues to create a sense that something is not quite right. Small details—unexplained noises, fleeting movements, and changes in the environment—gradually erode the feeling of safety. This slow escalation encourages players to remain attentive, as the horror is not immediately visible but constantly implied. It’s during these moments that the game captures a genuinely unsettling atmosphere, using restraint to build anticipation rather than relying on immediate scares. As the experience progresses, the threat becomes more direct, with large spiders emerging as the primary antagonists. This marks a shift in gameplay from passive exploration to active survival. Players must navigate the environment more cautiously, choosing when to avoid confrontation and when to engage. The introduction of limited weaponry adds a layer of resource management, requiring players to think carefully about how they approach each encounter. This transition is intended to create a dynamic progression from vulnerability to partial control, though it can feel abrupt, as the systems supporting combat are not as refined as those used to build tension. The gameplay structure combines exploration, objective-based progression, and light puzzle-solving. Players move between different areas, interacting with objects and completing tasks to advance. While this provides a sense of direction, it is not always clearly communicated, which can lead to moments of confusion. Instead of a smooth narrative flow, progression sometimes feels fragmented, with players searching for triggers or missing steps rather than naturally uncovering the story. The underlying mystery adds some motivation, but it is not developed deeply enough to fully anchor the experience. Visually, Arachnoid adopts a stylized presentation with a retro-inspired filter that gives the game a slightly distorted, VHS-like quality. This aesthetic works well in darker environments, enhancing the sense of unease and making the setting feel more oppressive. The house itself is designed to feel enclosed and claustrophobic, reinforcing the idea that there is no safe escape from the threat. However, the visual quality is inconsistent, with some areas feeling atmospheric while others lack detail, reducing the overall impact of the environment. Sound design plays a significant role in maintaining tension, particularly in the earlier stages of the game. Ambient noises and subtle audio cues help build anticipation, often making silence feel just as threatening as any direct encounter. As the game shifts toward more active horror, this subtlety is sometimes lost, with encounters becoming more predictable and less psychologically engaging. The balance between atmosphere and action is uneven, which affects how consistently the game maintains its sense of dread. Despite its promising concept, the game struggles with consistency and depth. Enemy behavior can feel erratic, sometimes reducing the intended tension by making encounters easier to manage than expected. The limited variety in both enemies and scenarios also contributes to a sense of repetition, particularly as the game progresses. Without significant changes in gameplay or new mechanics, the experience begins to rely heavily on its initial premise, which can lose its impact over time. Technical and design limitations further highlight the gap between the game’s ambition and its execution. Interactions can feel unpolished, and certain mechanics lack the refinement needed to fully support the experience. These issues, combined with the relatively short length and limited content, make the game feel more like an early concept than a fully developed horror title. Ultimately, Arachnoid succeeds in creating moments of genuine tension, particularly in its early stages, where its slow-building atmosphere and grounded setting work together effectively. However, its inability to maintain that tension through consistent design and evolving gameplay prevents it from reaching its full potential. It stands as an interesting attempt at blending everyday realism with horror, offering glimpses of what could have been a more compelling experience with further development. Rating: 5/10
Yeah, the game is cool, but it crashes frequently and there's no safe system in the game. So I'm gonna have to give it a thumbs down for that. You can't get through it.
Arachnoid is a clunky and padded game. I should drive here in my car that appears to be limited to 10 mph and find nothing. I should go here and find nothing. I should vacuum my house and individually take eight bin bags to the dumpster outside using frustratingly clunky controls. I should go to the motel, even though my house is 200 yards down the road. I should check into this motel, go to my room and discover that my dog has got itself stuck in the reception doorway. I should go back to reception and retrieve my dog. The game is full of these pointless and deliberately padded tasks aimed at making a 30-minute game last two hours. The dog itself makes the game last longer by virtue of it blocking doorways all of the time. It never stops panting, either. I had to turn the sound off because the panting was making me question my sanity. By the time the main mechanic arrived, the spiders – I had lost the will to play this game. I could have shot them with my double-barreled shotgun from the start instead of wasting an hour driving backwards and forwards to a motel and putting eight bin bags into a dumpster. The concept of Arachnoid is not bad, but the extreme padding, annoying dog, and the clunky controls make this indie horror title a chore to play, and by the time the main mechanic arrives, you've already grown tired of the game. Even if it is a one-man dev team, it is no excuse when you're charging people money. The Mortuary Assistant was made by a one-man dev team, and that game was a masterpiece in comparison.
Wasted something like 2 hours for game that has no save progress system
SO MANY BUGS, NOT IN A GOOD WAY LOL. - constantly getting stuck in car, no matter if stopped or moving. - dog gets stuck in house and can't walk down some stairs. - no indication of where I'm headed. - long, nothing to do in the car but drive... - I was really open to the idea of being scared by this game but i guess it would have taken more time to get to the scary or even the spider parts. + there was that one spider in the back of the broken down school bus...that was the best part of the game. I hope there's more work put into this game it looks like it could be good after working out bugs/glitches but it wasn't something I could enjoy - lack of patience perhaps but in any case, maybe someone else might find its relaxing for them. Good luck moving forward.
So, Arachnoid. I'm going to go out on a limb and recommend because I completed and enjoyed it. There is a But....... I dont think this game will be for everyone. But keep in mind, this game is made by 1 Dev. Game World First off, I loved this setting. I found it really unnerving even before the spiders showed up. While driving around between points of interest I really got Tremors vibes. Story/Gameplay The game is a bit of a slow burn, having you go from the mundane tasks of fixing up your new house, moving your furniture in and keeping Doggo fed or just having a drive around and checking out the Points of Interest all the way to when the Spiders emerge and all hell breaks loose. I liked it! The shooting works well and has nice reload animations. The vehicle handling could do with some work. On the whole the vehicle feels sluggish ( steering and acceleration ) The Doggo While having a driving buddy and companion to follow you round, old Doggo has a fatal floor..collision. Quite a few times the dog would block me in rooms or in small areas. Easily fixed by allowing the dog to clip through the Player. The ability to rotate items ( specifically the couch for upstairs ) would be helpful.....getting the couch through the front door was like a boss fight xD This game sorely needs a save system mind you. Graphics Graphically the game looks decent enough. I didn't mind the VHS graphics style, but it did make it hard to see things in the environment at times and kinda hurt the presentation a little. It could do with having an option to turn off or down this effect. Similarly it could have down with a brightness slider as at night ( and a section near the end of the game) its hard as hell to see even with a torch. Sound Other than the static/VHS sound effects its all rather good. Again It could do with an option to remedy this. Bugs ( not the spiders ) I did come across a few issues, nothing game breaking. Missing ground textures - fixed on restarting the game Spiders getting stuck in the ground and walls or just not attacking. The physics for the rubbish bags is a bit wonky, they often flew off at the slightest touch. The spiders can physics block. It only happened to me twice but it was to the point where I couldn't move or jump to get free. I had to just keep shooting and pray I wasn't killed ( thankfully I wasn't ). Summary On the whole I enjoyed Arachnoid....bugs and all........after all I did finish it and really enjoyed the ending! Horrid Vision is onto something with this game formula and I truly mean that. I'm looking forward to see what Horrid Vision does next!
