Starts off good but gets old really fast. Just really bland level and enemy design makes this get boring pretty quickly.
👍
I really like the concept of this game, and the story and the environment and world. The main thing that I really can't stand is the controls that just feel super janky, item collision feels really poor and everything is just difficult to do. The combat feels one-dimensional and tacked on but the enemies are kinda cool. Definitely worth the 4.50 I paid in a bundle, I recommend getting it if it's on sale.

A bit bugged and janky, you get stuck in terrain, enemies dissapear etc. Story is ok, gameplay feels repetitive and boring, just shooting the same types of enemies with a bow. Not a fan of stylized graphics but it looks fine. Overall I'd say not worth it at this point.
"Where are other peeps anyway?" Finished it within few hours (Steam not logged offline hours ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) Has really good realistic stylized gfx, nice exploration fun and bow combat. Recommend; 8/10
This game had a lot of potential, but last time I tried to play, I couldn't get the Index to work. It does work with the Rift S, but could never really get into it.
Despite my rating, I do like this game. And there's a lot to like - the artstyle is beautiful and oozzing with Sweden, the gameplay is fun, the story is intriguing... I certainly wanted to complete it. But at this point, I think I'll have to give up. Because what else are you supposed to do when you've lost your savegame like 5 times? So - apparently, this game stores all your progress in the Windows registry, which is honestly a baffling choice for a game. This of course means that the save won't carry between Windows reinstalls unless you go out of your way to export the registry entries, which is a lot more annoying than copying files... or just using Steam Cloud. The first time I lost my save was after a reinstall, so I wasn't surprised - I only had to replay the early parts anyway. But when I returned some time later - the save was gone again. I checked - there was data in the registry, why wasn't it loading? Maybe a Windows update had changed something and the game was no longer recognizing this as the same computer? (e.g. Hyperlight Drifter does tie the savegame to this for some reason.) Well, I tried again and even got way further in the same session. But it happened again. Recently, I decided that I'd like to try finally completing the game, focusing on it over the coming days. So, I completed the same early parts yet again, hoping I'll finally be able to see more of this game. The next day, I got my VR setup ready, launched the game... there was no "continue" option, only "New game". Nothing changed, I only rebooted the computer and the game. I tried again, only replaying the first mission up until the game saved. I exited to the main menu - the continue is there. I relaunched the game - the continue is gone. Maybe this is some sort of incompatibility with Windows 11, as when I first tried the game I was on 10 and I think the game could read the save after relaunching. Or there was some bad update? But that doesn't change that the game is currently just broken, unless you plan to complete it in one session. And... I really don't think there's going to be an update to fix it, especially since the developer doesn't even sell the game anymore. My only hope is to perhaps try running the game with Proton in Windows 10 compatibility mode... but I don't have a Linux-compatible VR headset yet. There's also one mission that I don't think was really thought out in terms of game design - "The device". So - there are enemies that run up to you and "explode" after a few seconds. You have to notice and deal with them quickly - which is fun when fighting them on the ground. Whereas in "The device", you have to defend yourself from a high ground you are stuck on, eventually watching 3 pathways. This is also an interesting idea and a fun challenge when fighting the usual ranged enemies. However, those 2 parts of the game really don't mesh well together. Firstly, these enemies run up so close to the device that they're annoying to hit (and they do also run fast). But the worst part is that later in the encounter - you're just not going to notice that they are coming, only eventually hearing that the device has been damaged from Fathr. You can't watch all 3 paths at the same time, so they can easily slip past your sight... and they only start to make sound when they are charging up their explosion. If you only notice them then - you won't have time to defeat them in time. The dumbest thing is though that after 2 failed attempts... the game just gives up and gives you the win for free, acting like you just completed all the waves. So, unless this is a glitch, the developers knew this mission was problematic. Really, I think the only thing that would be needed, is just to give some kind of warning that these enemies are about to come, e.g. giving them a running noise. But as it stands, this is another sour spot in what would otherwise be a hidden gem.
Good graphics, fun gameplay and the archery works brilliantly.
bow go brrrrr
(playing on vale index) as of this review i can not recommend this game because it simply doesn't work, launch the game and you are set on a cliff side staring out like something is supposed to be there, 5 minutes later a menu finally appears. I change some settings and hit play, screen goes black i can still see my knuckles and hear some mechanical sounds from i guess what my hands are supposed to be doing when i press buttons. Restarting my computer and checked for a driver update resulted in nothing different happening. i did contact support first to see if something is happening if they don't get back or have no clue, i will get a refund.
