Reviews
It's all very well adding a new chapter and character, but you can't get there due to an earlier glitch that still hasn't been resolved despite posting in discussions. I cannot recommend in its current state.
Feels a bit like a demo game with an entire gacha system for a single character with all other gacha rolls being cheap consumables and tons of shops only selling hard bread. Not much guidance as to where to go or what to do. Very cheap consumables (3-9 gold each while mobs drop hundreds of gold) and can become overpowered very quickly by farming bosses for XP and equipment. Then enemies deal 0 damage and the AOE skill one-shots mobs, which helps given the constant battles when navigating maps. The high mob spawn rate feels like compensation for the emptiness of the maps. Might have accidentally skipped the first 5 chapters (hard to tell given lack of instructions). Also, redeeming the 40 gacha tickets just reset ticket count to zero without actually adding the new party member. Overall, somewhat enjoyed the game's simplicity, cheap consumables, and sense of discovery trying to figure out where to go next. Definitely not for everyone, but on sale can be worth the experience if overlooking bugs and lack of content. 4/10
Another World Adventures is a fantasy role-playing game developed and published by S Xavier Uy that embraces many of the classic elements associated with traditional isekai adventures. Combining exploration, character progression, equipment collection, quests, boss battles, and a lighthearted narrative, the game follows a group of ordinary students who suddenly find themselves transported into an unfamiliar fantasy realm. Built with a retro-inspired RPG structure, it focuses on straightforward progression and accessible mechanics while presenting a story filled with humor, adventure, and personal growth. The narrative begins with three high school students whose lives are abruptly changed when they are transported to another world. Each character brings a different personality to the adventure. Shuichiro is an eccentric individual known for his unusual fascination with mascot costumes, Takeshi is a talented athlete admired by his classmates, and Tosaka serves as the more practical and level-headed member of the group. Their journey becomes even more unusual when unexpected transformations and strange circumstances begin to complicate their attempts to understand the world they now inhabit. This setup immediately establishes a tone that balances fantasy adventure with comedic situations. Unlike many modern fantasy stories that quickly transform their protagonists into unstoppable heroes, Another World Adventures takes a more gradual approach to character development. The heroes begin as ordinary individuals with limited knowledge of their surroundings and must learn how to survive through exploration, combat, and persistence. Their growth feels connected to their experiences, giving players a clear sense of progression as the adventure unfolds. Exploration serves as one of the primary pillars of gameplay. Players travel through various regions, interact with towns and settlements, accept quests, and venture into increasingly dangerous territory. The world is structured to reward curiosity, encouraging players to investigate new locations in search of equipment, resources, and story progression. While the overall design remains relatively traditional, the constant introduction of new objectives and environments helps maintain a steady sense of momentum. Quest progression plays a significant role in guiding the adventure. Missions provide both narrative context and gameplay rewards, helping players steadily advance through the story while strengthening their characters. Completing objectives often unlocks additional areas, introduces new challenges, and reveals more information about the fantasy world. This structure ensures that progression feels purposeful and gives players clear goals to pursue throughout their journey. Combat follows a familiar role-playing game formula centered around character growth and equipment management. Battles provide experience points, resources, and opportunities to test newly acquired abilities. As players become stronger, they gain access to more challenging encounters that require greater preparation and strategic thinking. While the combat system does not radically reinvent genre conventions, it effectively supports the overall progression loop and provides a satisfying sense of advancement. Equipment acquisition is another important aspect of the experience. Throughout the adventure, players collect weapons, armor, and various upgrades that improve combat performance. Stronger equipment not only increases survivability but also provides motivation to explore difficult areas and defeat powerful enemies. The constant pursuit of better gear creates a rewarding progression system that helps maintain player engagement. Boss battles serve as major highlights during the adventure. These encounters represent significant challenges that require preparation and character development to overcome. Defeating powerful opponents often grants valuable rewards and unlocks new opportunities for exploration. The gradual escalation of difficulty helps create memorable milestones and gives players a tangible sense of accomplishment as they progress. One of the more distinctive systems featured in the game is its gacha-style character and reward mechanics. Through these systems, players can obtain additional characters and special items that contribute to progression. This adds an element of unpredictability and collection-based motivation to the gameplay. While some players may appreciate the excitement of unlocking rare rewards, others may prefer more traditional progression methods. Regardless, the mechanic introduces another layer of variety to the overall experience. The game's visual presentation embraces the classic RPGMaker style that many fans of independent role-playing games will immediately recognize. Character sprites, environments, and menus prioritize functionality and readability over technical complexity. Although the visuals are relatively simple compared to modern high-budget RPGs, they successfully create a colorful fantasy atmosphere that suits the game's lighthearted tone. The soundtrack complements the adventure with music that supports exploration, combat, and story sequences. Town themes, battle tracks, and environmental music help establish mood while maintaining the retro-inspired identity of the game. The audio design remains straightforward but effective, enhancing the overall experience without becoming intrusive. One of the game's greatest strengths is its accessibility. The mechanics are easy to understand, progression is clearly structured, and the overall adventure avoids unnecessary complexity. Players familiar with classic RPGs can quickly adapt to the systems and begin exploring the world without needing extensive tutorials. This simplicity makes the game approachable for both newcomers and longtime fans of traditional role-playing games. However, the game also exhibits some limitations common to smaller independent RPG projects. The visual presentation, while functional, lacks the polish and sophistication found in larger productions. Certain gameplay systems feel familiar rather than innovative, and players seeking cutting-edge mechanics may find the experience somewhat conventional. In addition, some community feedback has highlighted issues with localization and dialogue quality, occasionally affecting the overall presentation of the story. Despite these shortcomings, Another World Adventures succeeds in delivering a charming fantasy journey built around exploration, progression, and character development. Its blend of classic RPG mechanics, humorous storytelling, equipment progression, and accessible gameplay creates an experience that feels comfortable and familiar. The game understands its audience and focuses on providing an enjoyable adventure rather than attempting to compete with larger and more ambitious RPG releases. For players who appreciate traditional fantasy role-playing games and enjoy the appeal of isekai-inspired adventures, Another World Adventures offers a pleasant and entertaining experience. It may not redefine the genre, but its combination of exploration, quests, character growth, and lighthearted storytelling provides enough substance to keep fans engaged throughout the journey.
