Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.29/day in the week to Aug 10 → 8.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game is absolutely phenomenal. I can't believe how much game is in this game for such a little game.
Very clever items and puzzles. Beautiful visuals and sound design. This is one of those little gems where the joy of figuring things out is so great I wish I had one of those men-in-black mindwipe gizmos. Also... this game is made by ONE (1) MAN. Billy Basso is some sort of mad genius that Dunkey keeps locked up in a cave, like Iron Man. When Billy Basso emerges from his groundhog hole in 100 years with a new video game, as the prophecy foretells, it'll be game of the year 2124. Billy Basso ate me and pooped me back out. Billy Basso could beat my dad in a fight.

I love the sound design, graphics, and tools/puzzles. It's just a shame that the game does not respect your time. It felt like almost every section that had any degree of difficulty or felt particularly time-consuming had a ridiculous runback, much worse than I've seen in Silksong or Elden Ring. The first few hours of the game I was fully immersed in the atmosphere and felt committed to finding every secret and 100%ing the game. By the last hour or so I was praying for it to be over so I never had to touch it again. I still think it's a beautiful game and I enjoyed my first couple hours of exploring the world and its gorgeous visuals. I just cannot recommend it because it is an utterly frustrating and tedious game to complete.
Animal Well is as much a puzzle game as a set of ten keys is a puzzle to one lock. As long as you have the correct key, you’ll know exactly how to open that lock. The complete base game of Animal Well is just that. Very few puzzles attempt to cross a line of connecting visual elements or item behaviour to a unique solution. Instead, the game relies on the player noticing a hole in the wall or a picture in the background. There was never a feeling of cleverness and this added a level of tedium compounded by the metroidvania aspects of the game. The game may be the worst metroidvania unlock design I have seen. Only two items provide a movement ability benefit and the order you get them in can not only negate the already simple puzzles, but also halt any platforming challenge. One of the benefits of metroidvanias is that they can make re-treading a previous path feel new when movement abilities are unlocked as they change the pace of exploration. Animal Well unlocks fail to do this, making exploration monotonous. This issue is made worse by how certain items are required to see puzzle answers, requiring the player to re-tread rooms with each items activated to get the true ending. Some of the items are also majorly underused, with only two to five rooms to use it total, and lack multi-purpose functionality that metroidvania upgrades tend to have. Explorations is unrewarding with any capacity apart from sight seeing. The game is beautiful, that’s undeniable, but the journey to get there is boring. There is no narrative and almost no lore, not helped by the creator saying there was no confirmed lore to begin with. I have very little positive to say about this one and I’m surprised by the overwhelming reviews. The price is way too high for an 8 hour main experience and 4 hour true ending content. A regrettable purchase with no key bind options, 3/10
i like this game but its 2026 and this game doesnt have key rebinding if you have any hand accessibility problems dont buy it
I'm gonna be completely honest, this game is absolutely gorgeous and the atmosphere is incredible - the art and sound design wrap around you like a blanket. I really wish I could've enjoyed this game but I could not figure anything out for the life of me. I'm the type of person to search for easter-eggs and secrets in every other game I play. We all do a 180 when we enter a new level to see if there's a juicy coin or two. I check attics + basements + drawers + cupboards + floorboards in other investigative and puzzle games but I couldn't even find a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ powerup in this one. I love everything about it, except for the gameplay
