RPG where instead of slaughtering animals you save them. Sadly, the game is scuffed and boring af. It's hard to keep track of anything, whether that be the quests or herbs you need to craft for particular medicine. The quests themselves are god knowns where, there are so many different islands, it takes ages to find the one where the quest is. There is no waypoint either which further complicates things. When I finally reached the destination, I got instantly killed by a level 99999999 enemy and respawned on the opposite side of the island, fun. Don't even know how I would beat the boss since the combat is janky and leveling up the character isn't exactly fast. Looking at the achievements the quests are optional I assume. Besides exploring dull islands, constantly collecting herbs or treasure, occasionally running into a braindead bandit, crafting medicine and healing animals, the game has nothing else to offer.
I do love me some janky games occasionally... but this was too much even for me. I love rough gems, but this wasn't just rough... it was jagged. combat and movement were clunky. So many basic systems that never expand into anything of note. It's not a "terrible" game, but i wouldn't pay $15 for it.

Man dis some janky ass bo-bo ass game, this the game you play when you high as ♥♥♥♥ on galaxy gas. Dis game the Ohio skibidi toilet no cap.
Not the greatest. This game is a grind and requires an acquired taste for it. Even with an efficient play style it can take 20 hours to beat simply because of the sheer amount of manual traveling you have to do to search for resources and animals. You quest is to heal all of the red-condition animals. There are yellow-condition ones too, though they do not contribute towards reaching the end. The ideal performance-oriented way to play this game is to go to the arena, buy a lot of Walnut Bread to survive the fights and do a few Adizrozel fights until you are set. Then you just buy the plants you need to cure one red-condition case for each animal until you have them all as you systematically cover and visit every place on every map. You want to play ideally as in: have money to buy the herbs you need to progress in the game. The game is extremely stingy with money outside the Arena and the few side quests that give money take quite a long time to complete. The methods other than Arena for making money are a way too slow. The slowness will start to wear on you because the game has very little meat to it besides the overall Animal Rescuer goal. The annoying part in the quests and why they are not fun to do is that each step requires traveling to another place, meaning a long loading screen that can add hours to the playthrough. The fighting system is quite stiff. The light one is for aggressive hacking at the enemy until it successfully hits you or dies and the heavy attack is something you use on multiple opponents and getting cheap hits into a boss. The system is extremely stiff and you are practically rooted in place while you attack. The combat is not difficult if you cheese it. If everything fails, you can do a simple back-step-forward-step routine to make the enemy roll into your wide slash 50 % of the time as it did not expect you to stop going backward. Later when you have health you can just hack at single enemies with light attack until they hit you. The issue with heavy attacks is that the attack they do depends on you movement direction while attacking AND the position of the enemy, meaning the enemy moving can change the move you do. That is why Adizrozel breaks the game as it has only two attacks and both of them are widly useful and not risky. After beating the game, you will have hard time remembering anything you did in the game because it is all the same generic, janky Unreal Engine indie game experience. You just do what the game says you have not yet done and the game ends. It is important to curb your expectations with this one. After the intro scene, there will not be any plot until the ending scene that tells nothing new. The music is above average and the models seem like bought assets. Everything fits together. I got this game as a Fanatical mystery game. EDIT: Revised after beating the game. (The ending is as basic as possible.)
Did not enjoy. Looks OK. No dialogue just weird almost ominous narrator voice that doesn't even tell a story. It is almost like the narrator is listing bullet points. Very simplistic gameplay. Not engaging at all.
Animal Rescuer is a game that is so thin that it's hard to enjoy it as soon as you start playing. There is no quality to be found here. Voice acting - just a random dude saying lines into a microphone in a robotic manner. Combat is wooden, stiff, imprecise, clunky and floaty, Enemy AI is as dumb as a rock. Some weapon swings cancel abruptly. Sometimes when you want to attack, the character does absolutely nothing, like he has a permanent fog in his brain. Maybe he is trying to mimic Joe Biden, I don't know. Max resolution is fixed to 1080p. No way to increase it beyond that. The music is annoying to say the least, had to turn it off completely after 10 minutes. Exploration - cumbersome, slow, limited. Lots of invisible walls. Lots of areas have no indicators on your map. You can easily miss a door to a different location or boss arena. Bosses are absolutely dumb. They have 50 times more hp than regular enemies, they rapidly regenerate their hp, while at the same time they can 2 tap you easily. You have to grind a lot of xp and levels to be able to deal with them with constant item consumption between several hits. Animal rescuing/healing is dumb. You have to find an animal first, then you learn the potion recipe to heal them, then you need to find or buy the correct herb and the correct amount of them, then you need to get to the alchemy table and craft the potion, then you need to find that animal once again to help them. And animals are not indicated on a map either. So good luck running around for 100th time in the same areas to finally complete some stuff. Plants and enemies respawn quite quickly. So rinse and repeat is on a max level. Every quest is the same: give me X to receive Y. Quests have no indicators on main map. The indicators are only visible if you visit the quest meniu and click quests one by one. Such a mess. Getting desired information is a tedious work. When you want to buy items the game doesn't show how much (if any) you already have in your inventory. Various bugs too. Sometimes quest text dialogue stays plastered on screen and can easily soft lock the game when triggering other NPC's quest dialogue. You have to alt+f4 to get out of the game or be stuck forever in this absolutely unpolished, tedious, boring game.
spent most of my time gathering plants. questing is simple. exploring is good enough for jazz. the combat is not my jam. overall, the game is not terrible, but it is sadly not my cup of tea.
Edit from 8 hrs to 14 hrs playtime I can't get enough of this game. I bought it for less than 2$ but can safely say its worth the full price of 15 dollars. THE MORE I PLAY this game, the more I like it. There is so much more to this game than the title lets on. You can get lost for hours on this map and there are already dozens of bosses, and tournaments. Full of quests, resource management, resource collection, heroic rescues, strategy, buffs, upgrading and of course animals. Orig review at 8 hours. I bought this cheap game called Animal Rescue because I like to rescue animals. What I got was a pleasant surprise. This is no simple point and click. Great transportation system includes gondolas between islands, couriers to transport sick animals and boats you can use to explore for yourself. Pretty large map with a good economy system in place. Find and collect different herbs and plants around the various islands so you can make the medicines you will need to cure all the animals. Many side quests and dungeons are here too with very satisfying sword fighting. I look forward to many more hours of gameplay here.. More than worth the $1.50 I paid. So many animals so little time !!!!
My mom said: "♥♥♥♥ you, because your game is bad and that is sad, which is bad. Don't make any more games."
Janky but fun. I don't see myself completing it, but it is a nice game to wind down with. Worth a couple bucks when it's on sale!
